Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC's 2019 Project(s) and Park Developments

Now that she’s made her debut I can talk about her and show pictures
Engine 14 is now officially in service on the Frisco Silver Dollar Line.  And she’s beautiful

VERY NICE! Thanks for sharing.
Looks like 2 different sets of pics though (?), showing her pulling older car in 1 and newer version in the others.

So The Wilderness has been renamed for this season.

That's generic.

Looks like they are bringing back the angels to the tree, just in a different incarnation (remember the original tree with the cutouts for the angels?). I'm assuming that is the same star on top. I really hope they keep Carol of the Bells by David Foster; they have played that song since the original tree was debuted. I wouldn't mind some added songs for the new tree, that I'm sure is a given, but they should at least keep that rendition of Carol of the Bells because it is so many peoples favorite and it has become synonymous with Christmas at SDC.

Just keep it mainly a dark ride with some coaster sections, not just another indoor roller coaster in the dark.

I agree Cowboy.
FITH is NOT an indoor roller coaster...it is a DARK RIDE with coaster elements. I truly hope that when it gets rebuilt it will not be an indoor roller coaster.

To the PTB: PLEASE DO FITH JUSTICE AND DO NOT RIP IT OF ITS SOUL!

We will be in Branson 20-23 (Thurs-Sun). We only plan to go to SDC on Friday the 21st.

We visited the park back in November for 3-solid days...so we got our fix, but taking our 9-year wedding anniversary trip before Christmas because we love it so much. Should be great weather the entire time we're there!

Swoosh had mentioned that the Entrance would be where the Rib House currently sits and not by Fireman's Landing.

I, too, am also very anxious so see if they keep the name "Lost River of the Ozarks."

I believe Pintrader is correct on the location; even the little drawing of the building on the map looks the same.

I also noticed that "Fireman's Cemetery" is drawn out and listed on the old map. Now its completed hidden in the shadows and blocked off the majority of the time.

I never saw the boulders (1st visit to SDC was in 1987), but i've heard many other people reference that original part of the ride. I do, however, remember the "Candy Mine" overlay in the early-to-mid 1990's. They only did the over-lay 1 or 2 seasons at the most, but in my minds eye it was amazing. To this date, i have only been able to find 1 photo of the "Candy Mine" and its somewhere in the archives of this site.

Just picked up a 1993 ornament.  I honestly did not know this one existed.

My parents have that one! You can feel the thread at the very top that makes the ornament, its cool.

Construction/Rumors / Re: Retire the Old Tree ! I said it, discuss....

I've noticed that the park is almost completely 100% LED, including the cabins and church. The ONLY spot I noticed clear incandescent being used was on the old log fences by the homestead and leather shoppe.

Even just a few years ago, when things started going LED, the square (excluding the tree) was still incandescent. So it is already brighter than it used to be.

I like Christmas in Midtown, but I agree with Gilligan that it looks gaudy....especially from the square.

Thanks for the pics Swoosh!

When we were there Nov 15-18, we spoke with one of the shopkeepers at White River Mercantile. According to her, she claims the shop will be removed completely, and they are moving into where Cowboy Jeps currently resides (midtown). She seemed sad the shop will be in a much smaller blueprint and was also commenting on the hardwood floors; she said she always loved the old wooded floors and hated to see them ripped up and thrown away.

We have all of them except 1994 and 1998.

Just got them all out last night, and put them on two small trees on either side of the fireplace hearth.

Look at that large sign on the left advertising the "Lucky Silver Mine" aka Flooded Mine.
Wish FM would still see that sort of recognition/advertisement/signage, its almost completely hidden now.
