Random Talk / Re: Ride the Ducks Disaster in Philadelphia!

I had the pleasure of fishing next to one of the duck boat mechanics this past fall. He talked about how they tested the seaworthiness of the boats after repairs were made.  They launch them at a boat dock by the dam.  He was astonished when he was told to drive it in the lake, and then found out that it's 250 feet deep at the dam!  LOL!  Hope to meet up with him again - he was an interesting fellow (and didn't catch anymore fish than I did.)   :)

Tiff, you never know!  She might find a SDC relic for you at a yard sale.

I was there once in late January to check out the condo that I later bought.  It was fun!  Nearly froze to death at the hotel we stayed at bc. the heat in our room was turned on before we got there, and the rooms on each side had no heat!  Brrrrrrr!  Took until the next morning to get warm.  But, it really was a good time.  Saw the ice sculptures at the Titanic, took photos of historic buildings w/o crowds in the pics, walked the landing a few times (and always got a window seat!), hit up the bookstore, and a movie.  Oh, and saw a few local bands in some pubs, and recognized some faces in the bands that were in the big shows during the normal tourist season.  Would be happy to do it again if I could find a three day weekend.

Nice weather in January and elementary kids aren't a good match learning.  After about 150 "Is it recess time? yets, and after-school reading, I knew my Times would be waiting for me -  :D

 NOT!   :(

Seriously??? Two goat heads?  I would send him out to locate the rest of the goat and lock the door behind him.  I have a friend who wants to go antiquing every time she's in town.  When she's ready to make a deal, we (incl. my dh and hers)  all head to the car - it's embarrassing to be around her.

I didn't get my times either! :(  Those bubble things were popular at PTO school functions a few years ago.  Kids love them.  That would be kind of cool at SDC as I'm sure they could do it up right!  Much better idea than...bubbles to the left ~ bubbles to the right.

Good idea, Ozarks Gal.  Don't forget to iron that paper first to remove those wrinkles.

Yes, both locations in Branson are now closed.  I agree - I enjoyed eating there.  It was a nice place to walk to after fishing the public docks on Taneycomo.  We would sit outside, and oftentimes, they had live music.

Yep, that's the same Shorty Smalls at the end of the landing by the boat dock.

Mutton Hollow used to have a pie shop called Aunt Parthene's.  I loved that place!!  I bought a hand woven rug from a big craft shop there years ago.  That rug looked as good as the day I bought it after hundred of washings.  In fact, it was GREAT! until the contractor picked it up during cleanup and it was never to be seen again. :(  I don't think I have any photos of Mutton Hollow.
