kevlev, call ahead to reserve your ECV early.  They go quickly on busy days.  I've been around the rental area and witnessed grown people cry because the rentals were all accounted for.  I would hate for it to ruin your day bc. there weren't any available for you.

The prices at SDC have reached Movie theater levels. They really need to drive them down a little.

That's a good way to put it!  You are very right!

From Wikipedia-

Season 10 saw Pam leave Bobby after she was involved in a car crash which resulted in her suffering severe burns. She disappeared from the hospital and Bobby never saw her again.

Series finale

In the final episode, Bobby is first on the scene after hearing a gunshot from J.R.'s room uttering the words "Oh my God." The camera never shows what Bobby actually saw and it was thought J.R. committed suicide, although in subsequent films it was explained J.R. shot a mirror.

 New Series (2012)

Bobby returns in the 2012 TNT sequel series. He has remarried again, this time to a woman named Ann, and is the owner of Southfork Ranch according to the terms of Miss Ellie's will. In the new series' pilot, aired June 13, 2012, Bobby has retired from the oil business, believing that alternative energy is "the future," a belief he shares with his now grown son Christopher, and is content to raise cattle on the ranch. He has decided to sell Southfork, due to his contracting stomach cancer and resulting fears that he will not be around to keep the ranch safe, and that Christopher is not yet ready to take over from him. This once again brings him into a conflict with his older brother J.R. and the latter's son, John Ross (who has discovered oil on the ranch), which will play out in the new series.

I can get it at the local grocery store, and sometimes at Walmart.  I don't really like it, but hubs does.  Give me smoky Maul's any day!  :)   Oh...here's a good tip.  A chef friend of the hubs told him that you can make any bbq sauce taste better by adding apple butter to it.  I haven't tried it yet, but I did have some of his homemade sauce and it was the best I ever had!!!

Junior, what do you know of Mulberry Farm?  I discovered online that they have a fall music fest.  Looks interesting, but I've never heard of the place before.

@Larson, how late Wednesday?  The Chateau doesn't seem to start until it's really dark.  You might have time to drive over towards the dam and catch them.  Or, last year on our way home after the fourth, we saw them all along Interstate 44.  It was pretty cool.

I love getting Apple Butter at the Mill for breakfast, but I've never bought the jars of it they sell. Is it the same stuff?

Ozarks, that's a very good question.  I'll ask about it next time I'm there.

Regardless, it's still false advertising!  The apple butter is still very yummy, and don't forget the sarsaparilla!  During the BBQ fest, there was a family selling cajun mixes, like sloppy joe, chili, hot sauce, stew, etc.  It was so good I had to remind the hubs we couldn't purchase ALL of it.  It came in canning jars.  We noticed that SDC is now carrying it at Ozark Marketplace.

Thanks, Zephon! I think we will check out the parking, and if we can get in w/o too much trouble we will go.  I read somewhere that they are offering $30.00 tickets to enter after five.  I think that's great for families that can't afford full price tickets.  All the boats at the Landing and the Spirit of America are sold out for the 4th.

My last experience at the Landing on the 4th wasn't a great one:  three 40-50 somethings sitting in front of us were buying drinks at Waxy's and dumping them in to-go cups.  They were so drunk they could barely stand (one ended up in my lap until my hubs shoved her off at which point she became angry.)  It was so crowded we were pinned in.  I mostly felt sorry for the young family next to us who's little kids had to listen to their mouths and watch them dance knocking into everyone.

I'll be in town that week, but there are so many things going on and choices, that I'm not sure what we'll do yet.  We always went to the Landing, but switched it up last year and went to Big Cedar.  THAT WAS FUN!!  The Landing is great, but the parking is h*ll and nearly impossible.  If SDC is putting on a good show, I'll try that one this year.  Zephon, don't you work for the City?  Can you give us an idea what to expect?

I just read this to the hubs and he remembers buying maple syrup there once a long time ago, and said it was "real" and "good".  That's outright false advertising if it's labelled as maple syrup. I used to buy 5 jars of plum butter at a time from SDC because it tasted like grandma's and couldn't be found anywhere else.  The last time it was purchased was the last time it will be purchased.  The vendor changed the recipe, and it was more like jelly.  Such a bummer!
