Branson Talk / Re: 1branson board technical problems
« on: June 05, 2014, 10:25:04 PM »
I don't live in B town, but did send them an email yesterday about the problem.......No answer so far. Maybe every computer in the place has died. Funny, on another thread here there is somebody with the usename Hollywood. Hum, ring a bell with 1b members. But not one word from him on this topic. Verrrrrry in-ter-ethinging.

If Branson embraces (C)rap, microbreweries, gambing, etc, then count me out. I can get that garbage here in OKC. I go there to escape.
Let's see, Branson already has  Sports bars like Time Out, a distillery, Copper Run just up the road near Walnut Shade, and plans are in the works for a Buffalo Wild Wings. Guess you're gonna be spending a lot more time in OKC.
Micro brewery, what a great idea! Copper Run has a few beers from micro breweries fairly close, in addition to their great distilled spirits. Fun place to. But a micro brewery....Great, wish I had the funds on hand to open one.

Branson Talk / Re: Branson Debates Diversification

The idea of a casino in the Branson area, no matter how much it would benefit the economy is not even possible. In 2004 the proposal to allow a casino on the White River lakes was voted down. In part, people who would be against any casino, any place. Also because of blind opposition, and greed of those who think something successfully drawing tourists to Rockaway Beach would cost them business in Branson. The truth is quite the opposite. A casino in Rockaway Beach, Kimberling City, or anywhere close to Branson would draw people who never considered going to Branson to the entire area. They would go to Branson for restaurants, shopping, and just to see what it is all about.
Secondly, in 2008, the laws in Missouri were changed limiting casinos to those existing, or under construction.
It may not be impossible to change the law, but its about as likely as Rush Limbaugh being invited to be the keynote speaker at the Democrat National Convention!

It's also very curious that the owner's tourism website no longer mentions, or has a button to click for the forum. Hum, did the Delete Fairy delete himself? Too much information shared on other places to get tickets? Too much comment on some negative aspects of Branson? Not enough on an informative forum generating business for the owner? Or just a complete technical breakdown?
Seems the owner, administrator, moderators, or somebody knows about this forum, and would at least make some mention of what is going on. Or maybe not, if it isn't a technical problem.

Branson Talk / Re: anybody plan first 2014 trip yet
« on: February 07, 2014, 08:41:45 PM »
Already been twice. January 24-26, and January 29-February 2. Next trip February 21-23. All for trout tournaments on Taneycomo. Plans made for my birthday in April, another trip in May. Nothing planned yet for the rest of the Summer, but back again in October, and for Thanksgiving. Also, after skipping this past New Years, we will be planning to return for New Year 2015.
All visits are at Lillys' Landing Resort and Marina. Really great place we have been staying at for over 20 years.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Chain Restaurants at SDC?

They have already gotten rid of Aunt Poly's for an "authentic, 1880's Ozark Mountain Pizza Parlor! Now you want Mickey D's, and Jack-in- the-Box!
NO, NO, A THOUSAND TIMES NO!

22
I did see lye soap available in one of the booths at Apple Tree Craft Mall. Don't know if it is as "home made" as at SDC though.

23
Guess lye soap and pizza parlors don't go well together.......The end is near!!!

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Cajun Connection
« on: September 25, 2013, 05:30:08 PM »

I really hate to say this, but why are they still there.
The first step down the hill was years ago when they were booted out of the Riverfront Playhouse, and stuck in an outside venue. But they still did a great job even if the show was shorter, and the audience could be suffering from heat exhaustion of freezing!
Then Louis left! to paraphrase an Alabama hit "If you're gonna play in Branson, ya gotta have a fiddle in the band!"
Next to leave, I think, was if I get the name right Terral, or something like that. Both a great comedian, and dance partner for Kelly. Beautiful to watch them in a Cajun waltz. With Kelly leaving a while back, now no comedian, or dancers.
At least when I went to SDC last Sunday they have toned down the Rock 'N Roll of the Beach Boy wannabe keyboard player. Not saying he isn't a good singer, and keyboard player. Nor that I don't like Rock N' Roll. I just thought the songs that he did didn't fit in with a "Cajun" show.
I just wish that Cedric, if he has control over the show, or the SDC talent coordinator, if they have such person, would revamp the show, get a fiddle player, comedian, and dancer, and bring back the "good ole days" of the Cajun Connection.
Probably asking waaaay too much to have them back in the riverfront Playhouse for a longer show.

They haven't had the food court in the Red Good Barn for several years. Very disappointing. They fill that area with that slide out, or whatever seating for shows now.
