Glad to see you Swoosh.

2023 will definitely be interesting to see all the 2024 work everywhere and to also get "Hill Street" back. I wish they would do a HGTV parody of a makeover show with a before and after reviling. I think it would make for a pretty awesome construction blog.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2022 Crowds / Trip Reports
« on: November 25, 2022, 10:56:14 AM »
We went the day before Thanksgiving again and it was a very large crowd. We arrived at just before noon worried about the craziness we experienced last year - but this year we were through the gates and into the square by 12:10 then had to kill some time. We shopped the few places that were open but that didn't take too long, was surprised Sullivan's Mill wasn't open.

Used my gold pass to ride Time Traveler, Powder Keg, and Outlaw Run in the first hour...this perk is nice considering how quick those lines fill up. I couldn't find the Trailblazer line for Fire in the Hole, and it was very crowded, so I didn't push my way to the front to find it.

The food we had was good, I really liked the Bang Bang Shrimp (could use a little more bang) and Acorn Squash Mac and Cheese. The other food was good as always.

It will be nice to get the furniture store and funnel cakes back - that area of the park seems so depressing with the "black hole" effect of those buildings missing.

We did experience a big bottle neck at the Hospitality House when leaving, so we exited by the bathrooms and saved a little bit of time.

All in all, was a great day.

We went the day before Thanksgiving last year and it was a mad house. We go quite often, so if ride lines are long we just skip the rides and eat food, shop the stores, and catch a show or two. Last year was incredibly busy with food lines just as long as the ride lines - we ended up leaving to come back another time.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Train Crash?
« on: October 27, 2022, 05:23:48 PM »
They will find the cause and they will address the issue. SDC cannot afford another "freak" accident to occur and turn out worse than this accident.

They will not reopen the ride until a cause is determined, and a "fix" is made. We'll need to have patience and just let the process work itself though.

This is usually where Swoosh jumps in and tells us we are all wrong  :)

Speaking of Swoosh, I'm surprised he hasn't commented yet, but I know it's a busy time for his profession. Another member I thought we would have heard from today is Shave.

During An Old Time Christmas:

Crowds are the lightest on the first week. Crowds get bigger every week. I hear that the crowds get light again after Christmas. Remember, the crowds are also the lightest Sunday thru Thursday, followed by Friday, and Saturdays are always the busiest days of the week. This last crowd rule applies all year round.

If you want more info on crowd levels, crowd predictions, and other stuff, I recommend using www.queue-times.com.

We used to always go the last few days of the year (after Christmas) because of low crowds and major merchandise discounts....however, these last few years, that doesn't apply anymore.

The huge discounts are gone (no more 90% off items) and the crowds have become big as well. If the weather is great, it will be close to capacity during that week.

I read a trip report on another site that said they thought that FITH was running well and everything was operating appropriately (unlike the FM which seemed to be in poor condition). They also said they were able to look inside the big new building and the inside was empty??

It really does seem quiet regarding a big new attraction. I too would think that SDC would have promoted this a bit more by now, but then again - unlike Lost River - FITH is open everyday the park is open. So they could be waiting to give it a send off once the 2023 Season passes go on sale.

Thank you Swoosh. It will be interesting to see what all they do with the area. Will they bring back all the "old" shops and food places reimagined or will it all be completely new :)

PK uses compressed air. It's made by S&S and uses the same technology as their space shot towers, etc. - It's like FireFall in Fireman's Landing but instead of going up vertically - you launch horizontally.

That side of the park is going to look so much different in the next couple of years. With this area changing and the Fire In The Hole area also changing - our park is going to be so different.

I wonder if they'll complete the Wildfire loop to the Powder Keg loop any time soon? A nice tall rotating drop ride would be cool out there on the point, something to get you up in the air so you can see the surrounding area.

Any pictures of the facades going up? Can you tell what look they are trying to achieve with what has been installed so far?

I'm really surprised they haven't started teasing this thing yet.

I'm excited to see what they do with the area, hopefully some things stay "hidden" in the woods and it's not just opened wide up, but I'm sure it will be exactly what the park needs.

That area did get pretty congested with the food lines extending into the pathways. So hopefully the redesign takes that into consideration.

Thank you Swoosh for the pictures - it is really hard to have patience with this project, so many questions with so little known to us without any inside information....

Disney does a great job of making the front of the house look amazing, and I thought SDC did a decent job with Red Heritage - but the part facing Grand Exposition is just a mural (granted it's nice looking but I think they could have done better). The current Fire in the Hole building isn't that grand during the winter and early spring months - but by summer the foliage has taken over and it blends well. So will there be foliage to blend the building, will there be murals, will there be a complete facade attached????

This building is really looking like a warehouse, not attractive at all, but I'm sure when it's done it will be acceptable and fit in with the park....but the waiting.....just tease us with a picture showing us what it's going to look like...

I need to learn patience.
