I'm not 100% sure the way people think, but I've had trouble even giving them away to friends at times. It was almost as if they were too proud for the "hand out"......

I had overlooked that aspect as well, but really the whole "first of it's kind" thing is often overblown so I tend to ignore those kinds of declarations these days. It could be a ferris wheel with some sort of minor gimmick and it'd still be "first of it's kind".

So true  It could be a BIg A** Wheel,  and if they have Hillbilly's running it, that would be a first..! ;D

When I read this I couldn't help but think of man powered Ferris Wheel:

If they remove the swinging bridge, I hope that they put a covered one or somethng there to replace it. We use that bridge multiple times for cutting across the park, not as an attraction but more like a short cut from TNT to Wildfire, AP, etc.

I was skimming another forum and a person there who claims to be in the "know" (works at the park in marketing?) said the three kiddie rides (Wings of Wonder, Happy Frogs, and Lady Bugs) will be relocated to Half Dollar Hollar this off season and a construction fence will go up in that location for the 2017 ride.

I'm not sure if they have any credibility, but I wouldn't mind this happening along with an update of the Grand Exposition. Plus it goes right along with things Swoosh as mentioned before too.....

American Plunge can attract a huge line during hot summer days........Early August the queue line was wrapped throughout the building and back down the hill.

I don't think it's going anywhere.

Last time I rode the attraction a few weeks ago, my gun didn't work. I ended up just floating looking at the scenery.....which was just as fun. I must be getting old....

Just based off of Dollywood attractions. Do you think SDC will be getting a wing coaster like Wild Eagle? Not that it's my first choice for a coaster, but it's something different for this part of the country.....and I think would be very popular.

2016.  If I had to guess, I would imagine we'll see more changes going on in Midtown and I am going to go out on a limb and predict that we see some changes in Grand Expo.  I have nothing to back either up, just gut hunches (and selfish reasons).

Getting something (anything) in Grand Expo would be a good thing I think. The last few trips we've made to SDC we never went back to that part of the park because there just isn't anything "new" or that "we have to ride" that draws us back there.

Other Parks / Big Splash (Tulsa) being purchased
« on: August 12, 2015, 09:52:48 AM »
Big Splash in Tulsa is being purchased by "Safari Joe" Matthew Estes. Finally the Murphy's are out, so maybe something good can happen to this park. I haven't been here in years and never had any desire to go because nothing much had changed since it opened in 1984. Now maybe things will start to improve!

Good luck Mr. Estes!

Branson Talk / Crazy Cajun
« on: August 10, 2015, 03:56:56 PM »
I always like trying new places and this last trip to Branson, I thought I would try Crazy Cajun Citchen on Indian Point. The reviews on Google Maps were good, so I thought what the heck, let's go.

Crazy Cajun Citchen is not a glamorous dining establishment. It consists of mainly outdoor dining on a deck and a small dining room with about 6 tables. The food isn't served on fine china, and the crystal is kept hidden somewhere.....but the food I had was outstanding, and I'll go again, and again, and again, to the Crazy Cajun.

So you're not surprised when you go, drinks are served by the bottle, including water (no ice, no cups). They have beer in cans, with the exception of one type that you can get in a bottle (sorry I can't remember what brand). The food is served in "to-go" type containers with the exception of a couple of entrees. Nothing is fancy here, but again the food is great.

I had the Crawfish Acadian and it was excellent. My son had the chicken gumbo and it too was very good. The okra was good and their corn muffins were excellent as well.

Here is a map to the place:   https://www.google.com/maps/place/Crazy+Cajun+Citchen/@36.6330259,-93.3468601,17z/data=!4m5!1m2!2m1!1srestaurants!3m1!1s0x0000000000000000:0xddc832a234d6ba01

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2015 Trip Reviews
« on: August 10, 2015, 08:50:10 AM »
Went to the park on Saturday 8/8/15 and had a great day. I was hoping that the threat of high temperatures and some rain would lend to a small crowd, but I was wrong. We rode Outlaw Run, Wildfire, Powder Keg, River Blast, Fire in the Hole, Flooded Mine, Barn Swing, and did the Lantern Tour of the cave. Shopped a little while and had lunch while the rides were closed because of rain and lightning.

Immediately after the rain, the rides opened back up to some of the biggest lines I have ever seen at the park. It seemed like everything (except FM and TNT) extended outside of their queue lines into the park. The SDC iPhone app showed line waits for Firefall, Wildfire, etc. to be over 90 minutes. I didn't even look at the wait times for American Plunge and Lost River...both of those lines were beyond excessive. Even River Blast's line extended just outside of the switchbacks.

We never made it back to the Grand Exhibition so I can't give a review of crowds back there, but Fireman's Landing was very busy. I would assume Grand Exhibition was too.....but to get me back to the GE, they are going to need to add an "E-ticket" attraction back there.

If you haven't done the lantern tour of the cave yet, I would sign up the next time you go. It was a nice tour with a lot of history of the park and cave discussed. I didn't know there was a log cabin built down there....

I am impressed with the ride, and kudos to Dollywood! I'll have to get there one day!

A nice video of the Bell's story.

Still hoping that one day we'll hear something about Bell's being reborn.

There was a time, not too long ago, when Branson would shutter up for the winter in November. There was no Old Time Christmas, no Christmas shows in Branson, etc. Branson was essentially closed almost 5 months of the year. As it is now, only January and February are closed and the Christmas season is one of the most busy times of the year. They gave us a reason to come during those months and the people responded.

So, give us something to do in January and February and we'll come. Indoor waterparks, world class aquariums, family fun parks, etc.

Here is a Facebook picture of about 1/2 the crowd on Saturday. I had told my daughter that when the concert started the ride lines would die down.....well, I lied, they were just as long even with this kind of crowd in the concert area.
