I'm interested to see whether the new home for Heartland Furnishings will be permanent. Since they completely gutted the building of anything to do with the Culinary demonstrations, is the plan to just have a furniture showroom instead of  visitors being able to watch furniture building demonstrations? It will be interesting to see.

I hope that's not the case.

I was glad to see the news regarding some upgrades around AP. I also hope some of the theming returns. The general public asking for it on social media will help, but I also won't hold my breath...

Really sad about this and what a loss for the old charm of the City. I hope they rebuild as close to the original as they can, but I'm expecting some large changes in order to help with crowding and traffic flow.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / SDC Launches New Online Store

SDC just launched a new online shop. It appears to be a limited selection of some handmade crafts and 60th anniversary merchandise. I'm sure that the offerings will increase if the shop is successful, or depending on how the COVID situation progresses.

I hope the shark infestations don't scare anyone away from returning to SDC.

Anyone else following this on the park's social media? It's been a lot of fun to watch.

I remember going to the Cosmosphere with scouts growing up. I learned a lot and it was a great experience! Great review.

I don't understand what people expected. Regardless of mine or anyone's personal opinions, this is what SDC has to do. They have to follow the current CDC guidelines, otherwise risk multiple lawsuits and a reputation of not caring for guest safety. I don't understand the outrage or the backlash when a large corporation where thousands of guests will be milling about together, had no other choice.

Fire in the Hole is still listed on the website. If I remember correctly, LROTO was quietly removed from the website without an announcement of its closing prior to the season. I find it hard to believe that HFE would close THIS attraction without any sendoff whatsoever. It's one of the originals. No matter its current poor condition, I agree with Shave that the park does recognize the importance of the attraction and it will have a proper sendoff.

We'll just have to wait and see what the future holds for so many of these projects. I'd imagine that the pandemic has delayed several projects by years at this point. The promotion of MRF on social media coming to a screeching halt tells me that the PTB just don't have enough information to tell the public anything at this point. Time will tell.

Other Parks / Re: Disney parks

Obviously Disney is a much larger international destination than SDC. However, I do think that every park and entertainment company in the country look to Disney for some sort of direction. Their decision in when and how to reopen their parks will have a trickle down effect in the industry. I guarantee Herschend is watching closely.

I can't wait to get my hands on this! Congratulations on all your hard work, Junior.

I hope SDC allows the book to be sold in stores. Seems like a great piece of history to be sold with the launch of Mystic River Falls on the site of the former Diving Bell.

My early tentative plan is for the first visit of the year to be in May for the 60th anniversary celebration. Too busy to get away earlier than that unfortunately.
