Random Talk / Movie & Book Discussion

I know most of you guys on here have kids but even if you don't, GO SEE Toy Story 3!! I grew up with the movies and I'm not ashamed to say it made me cry. There actually wasn't a dry eye in the theater after the movie. It is a great movie, and I highly recommend it.

I also saw A-Team a couple weeks ago and I enjoyed it as well.

What does everyone think of this museum? We went through it on Friday and loved it. It has a really great design and you'll learn a lot. Worth the money.

Other Parks / Seaworld Accident
« on: February 26, 2010, 11:27:27 PM »
What do you guys think should happen to the whale that attacked and killed a female trainer recently? Reportedly, the same whale killed another human in 1991. According to the article, the whale is important for the breeding program and cannot survive in the wild. So I believe that if the whale has to stay in Seaworld, that it should not be in anymore shows and should have as little human interaction as possible.

Happy one year SDCFans!  ;D

I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank Steve for all that he has done for the site and everything that is continuing to happen. We've grown to 66 members, two of them adminstrators, and three moderators. Also we're on the sixth version of the main site.

I can't speak for all of you, but, I've learned so much about SDC here on these forums, and in my trips to the park since I've joined the site, the trips have been exciting looking at all the history and theming that I didn't really look at before SDCFans. Much of this is contribute to the fact that there are so many SDC employees here on the forums. It seems like each day there is something new on the site that catches my eye or something new that I learn about SDC. Here is the thread where we can talk about what we've learned here or thank Steve for all he's done.

Celebrate good times, come on!

Announcements / New Editorial by Coaster
« on: June 27, 2008, 04:36:35 PM »
Check out my new editorial on the home page. It is the most extensive and in depth one I've written to date. This is the third editorial I've written for the site. The first one has somehow been lost in some of the site updates. Once you read it please tell me what you think about it here since you can't comment on the home page right now.

Thanks!

Other Parks / Hersheypark

Does anyone know much about Hersheypark? I might get the chance to go there this summer and I've heard great things but I don't know much of what is there. Their website doesn't say much really. I do know one thing--I'll love the food!

Have any of you heard about this yet? I saw it on the news and I think it is devestating. That's a lot of good movie history gone. Back to the Future was my favorite movie for a really long time and it is still one of my favorites. But this morning on tv I heard that it wasn't true that it was destroyed. Who knows though...

Random Talk / -The 2008 SDC Ride Credit Game-
« on: May 27, 2008, 03:36:05 PM »
Okay so I had this idea. We can do this every year if everything goes successful. Here's how it works:

Each time you go to SDC keep track of how many times you rode each ride. I'm thinking we will do these rides listed:

  • Wildfire
  • Powderkeg
  • ThuNderaTion
  • Fire in the Hole
  • American Plunge
  • Lost River of the Ozarks
  • Frisco Silver Dollar Line
  • The GIANT Swing
(If you guys want any other rides listed just say so, but I consider these the main rides)

Anyways once you get back from your trip post how many times you rode each ride in this format:

Your Username: Trip Date
Wildfire: However many times you rode
Powderkeg: However many times you rode
ThuNderaTion: However many times you rode
Fire in the Hole: However many times you rode
American Plunge: However many times you rode
Lost River of the Ozarks: However many times you rode
Frisco Silver Dollar Line: However many times you rode
The GIANT Swing: However many times you rode

Now to keep things fair; since some people like me, Joy, Steve, etc. can't make it to the park all the time like some people that live in Branson or Springfield, you can't post your numbers more than once a month. If you go to SDC seven times in one month, you may only post one of your trip credit numbers. Don't add them all together either please. This is just to keep things fair.

Each ride will have an individual winner. If you win you will get a sig banner to put in your signature. You then can sport that across the forums for all of 2009. If you win more than one ride title then all your rides can be placed on one signature. If someone else could make the signatures that would be great. I can't make anything like that.

The game will end on December 30, 2008 (the last day of operation for SDC). Just post your trip numbers in this topic once a month only for the trip you want. If there are any questions or if I left something out just tell me. This should be fun. Here are my numbers. Once you guys post your numbers I will edit those into this post.

You can currently post for March, April, and May (if you want to use a trip you have already went on in May).

Have fun!

General Silver Dollar City Talk / SDC's 50th Anniversary - 2010
« on: April 03, 2008, 08:45:07 PM »
(Admin note: this topic was taken from a different discussion that got off course)

The park should celebrate it definitely. Maybe they used Buzz Saw Falls as a anniversary thing. Didn't it come out in 2000? But it was also just a prototype so who knows.

Maybe for the 50th anniversary they could introduce a whole new festival with a new ride or something. Maybe the splash battle? Of course that will be right after the whole new expansion in 2009 so I doubt that.

Random Talk / The ABC's of SDC--a SDCFans Forum Game!
« on: April 02, 2008, 06:48:01 PM »
I figure we need a game for this forum. Seeing as sometimes we have a dry spell on here we might need something to do sometimes. So here's a game I figured might be kind of fun. SDC Memories/ Park History / What keeps you coming back to SDC?
« on: March 18, 2008, 11:23:33 PM »
Well I think its about time for another User Submitted Article!! Yay. Well, for this article I am going to need a little forum participation. My article is going to be about why people keep going to SDC! Over the years it has hardly changed at all, so why do you keep going back if you experience the same thing?! Well tell me.

In one post if you could just tell me why you keep going back to SDC your post may be used in my article. Thanks for your help.
