General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Touring Plan for Little Kids
« on: May 11, 2019, 09:38:50 AM »
So, sdc is definitely NOT Disney. You’ll find flexibility will go a long way in making your day great. It’s a good idea to know what you’d like to ride but don’t plan an order. You will find that everything is close together so it’s easy to hop all over the park to find a ride that doesn’t have a long line. You will find a much more relaxed environment.

I’d recommend the week of the 10th over the week of the 24th. Earlier in the week is better.. say Tuesday and Wednesday.

I’d be super surprised if your 9 year old is shorter than 48 inches. Your 7 year old may be over 48 inches as well. To get their official sdc heights go to the measuring station in the grand expo first. They will measure your kids and give them wrist bands that will expedite you getting in the rides.

Skip the trailblazer. It costs a lot and there is no good reason to have it for the rides you are looking at. The only one you might considering rushing too first is powder keg. We’ve seen the line well over an hour long this season but not often.

Most of these you will be able to do in a day. However, 2 days is a great idea too. Again, a slower pace here   Don’t compulsive plan it. Go with the flow and you will have a great time!

Wish I could slice my 21 yr old in half:  I didn't realize the guest passes are blacked out tomorrow, and that is the only day we can go  :-[ :'(

We have passes that are good tomorrow. Did you buy yours later than the end of January?

Hope to have a new report in a week:  we have a visit planned for BG&BBQ for this Saturday.

You are braver than most of us!  It’s mercy day Saturday.

A little over 12,000 people today...  Would have been a beautiful day to be there today..

We were there. In general lines were quite long. But we were able to see the shows we wanted to see by giving up rides. The temp was good but the wind was quite chilly.

Photos from today. Feel free to use them if you need them for something. The first photo is new concrete poured. This was close to the old entrance for lost river.

It would have been a great weekend to go. Why didn’t we go?  Ycw. We made that mistake one time. They didn’t care that my kids were 5. They cut in front of them anyway to ride the kiddie coaster. Now we avoid this weekend because I don’t want to deal with that.

Tony and I would be considered “millennials”, albeit old ones. Lol. We have 3 kids, 11, 11 and 7. We live on a tight budget, mainly due to our kids’ traveling sports.

We buy passes to sdc each year. We go at least once a month if not more often. When do we go in to the city of Branson?  When white water is open. I can add ww season passes to our sdc passes for minimal cost. Both are a great value for us. We live an hour and a half away from Branson so it’s an easy day trip.

For me to take my family to go karts, it’s $50 for 10ish minutes of fun. Mini golf, depending on the course, is $8-12. So, another $50 on average. A day at Fritz’s adventure will cost us $140.00 without food or drink. If we stay the night, we have 2 options: a suite or a rollaways. Most places no longer have roll always or they are taken. So we are at around $100 a night for a hotel.

Branson has little to do for free. Unless you want to hike, you pay for every little thing you do. If you want to attract millennials and their families in to town, affordable options is what the town needs. Don’t build an aquarium that’s going to cost me $30-$50 to walk in the door. Because, to be completely honest, we can drive to Galveston, spend more days there and spend less money.

It was an absolute madhouse. And people stayed all day.

Have we discussed the dirt moving behind red gold and fireman’s landing?  Because I cannot remember why they are doing this. Lots of activity back there today.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Fill the seats
« on: March 22, 2019, 12:24:33 PM »
Why don’t they fill every seat on rides?  When I was a kid, they’d ask for people to fill seats and run them completely full. But today, on a day where there will be over 15,000 people (possibly closer to 20,000 if it’s like yesterday), I’m seeing a total of 12 people on one round of the balloons. I’m seeing empty seats on every ride and it’s frustrating!

General Silver Dollar City Talk / New survey
« on: March 19, 2019, 04:57:51 PM »
Covered things such as: satisfaction with food, wait times, general experience. Asked multiple times if we plan on visiting in 2020-2022.  No questions about future rides or suggestions for the futures.

Leaving now. We waited in lines all day. The tram guys didn’t know attendance.

Looks like Opening Day is going to be a complete washout

Yes. With inches of rain falling. We had planned on going but now we’ll try to go Sunday instead.

Facebook status says exciting news at 9 am CST. Based on their replies it appears to be a ticket or season pass offer.
