Random Talk / Man cannot live on Doctor Pepper alone
« on: August 16, 2011, 04:36:06 PM »
I am a big dummy.

I ended up in Baptist Emergency Room yesterday because of what I did this past weekend.

I went to the 1st annual Blanchard OK bluegrass festival for about 2 hours to get my fix and then played basketball for a few hours on Saturday. Then my band practiced for 5 hours or so on Sunday.

I almost passed out doing 70 down the highway yesterday morning and then almost passed out again at the Access Medical Clinic. They carted me away in an ambulance.

Turns out that heat + humidity + obscene amounts of Doctor Pepper will land you in the hospital if you're not careful.

My heart rate kept dropping from normal to around 50 and I felt really really weak.

So drink water.... or Gatorade.... and eat bananas for the potassium.

Don't be a big dummy like me  ;D

Branson Talk / Treasure Lake
« on: May 12, 2011, 10:32:55 AM »
Have any of you all ever been to the Treasure lake Resort in Branson?  My grandparents had a membership from 1984 until they passed away. It seems strange not to be able to just walk in there like I could when i was a kid.

With apologies to Andy, I was thinking about the top 10 reasons that SDC is the best park ever.

10. No Alcohol
 9. Something for everybody from the little kids to the grandparents
 8. The food (apple butter, BBQ, Roasted Corn, The mill, the mine, etc)
 7. Bluegrass music all day everyday
 6. Saloon Girls  (Just good clean fun)
 5. The rides (FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!!!!!!!!)
 4. Funnel Cakes, the candy store, and the apple butter shop
 3. The old buildings, blacksmith shop, lathe, etc.
 2. Marvel Cave
 1. What other theme park has church services?

Random Talk / My band
« on: December 31, 2010, 01:56:27 PM »
Y'all know that bluegrass is my first love...

However, I also play (gasp) electric bass for a local red dirt band here in Oklahoma City.

I'm playing tonight in Mustang, OK at the Silver Stallion with my band, Southern Ride in case any of y'all are looking for a place to party.

http://www.facebook.com/Southernride

Don't want to be too commercial, just thought I'd let y'all know

Everybody be safe, and I'll see you next year once SDC opens (unless you decide to show up for the party)

No worries though, I will still faithfully check the site.

Gotta get my fix, ya know?

My fiance and I are considering getting married at the Wilderness church at Silver Dollar City.
Have any of y'all got married there? If so, would you recommend it? Is it very expensive.
Any info is appreciated.

Thanks,

Kurt

Hey guys (and gals).

I thought I'd let you see my band's page. We have only been together for about a month, so we're still working the bugs out. I am the fiddle player / bass player.

Very basic website (so far) but it links to our facebook page.

SDC Memories/ Park History / Cliff Wagner
« on: September 22, 2010, 04:38:30 PM »
Cliff performed as SDC back in the 90's. I remember him from the Starlite Theater back When Chisai Childs was running it. I knew that he had been killed in an auto accident in 2004. My grandparents knew him pretty well. Does anyone remember Cliff and the show that he was in in the gaslight theater back before listen to the river moved in back in 93?
