When the tintype shop first opened they did authentic tintypes. There were problems in that it took a long time and were dark. They were quickly replaced with the lighter type. This one is a young me the first year they opened.

The latter of course. The same year Bruce invited us for a park wide shootout using the street show guns. I was taken out in a Buch Casidy hail of bullets on top of the ice cream parlour. Couldn't get away with anything like that now.

The big debate on the monorail was that every business wanted it to stop in front of them. To many stops on a long trip down miles of road. Not enough stops, to far to walk to your business. No one could agree.

Aw Junior. You gee,d when you should a awed boy.last bell, Jace Land dumped a quart of blue lake dye into the water holding tank. When junior went to slap hos hand down over the pipe, the water turned black. Congrats on the arrival.

To my understanding, Dolly wanted to build a park of her own which would have been competition for SDC Tenn. Selling Dolly 49% was a wise investment and  survival move all in one.

this was never public knowledge. SDCs official policy doesn't allow this for obvious reasons. An exception was made in a small ceremony. Don  was the reason I had the position I had. He flew me all over the country doing radio and TV interviews on the city behalf. Even though he once got publicity at my expense, I still owed him a lot. I was at that service.

here is another very little known fact. There is only one person officialy interred at Silver Dollar City and that was the man who gave the park its name. Don Richardson was silver dollars cities PR director from its inception and tell his death in the 1980s. Hid ashes were scattered behind the wilderness church. No other person associated with Silver Dollar City was ever given this honor.

 a little known fact. Silver Dollar City was the second idea of what to put it above Marvel cave by Mary et all....the first was  the Marlin Perkins zoo, a tie in with mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. It only lasted one season, then it made way for Silver Dollar City.

pardon me if I digress, but as I have mentioned in old posts here there are many ties between Silver Dollar City and rawhide Arizona. The stagecoach is from Silver Dollar City, the Entertainment Group that preformed all of the comedy Street shows was started by Silver Dollar City entertainers. yours truly designed and built the old rawhide blacksmith shop, Cemetery, and some of the performance areas in the old Park.we even purchased old costumes from Silver Dollar City's costume shop

the original Mountain folks music festival was started in the mid 70's and took place in June in order to attract more people earlier in the season. It consisted of about 200 amateur and semi professional musicians in 20 or so locations around the park like the chair porch in Midtown, the seating area behind Jack and Mary's on Hill Street, the spring tree by the old float trip, and other locations such as these. I was privileged to have this as my first Silver Dollar City job in the 1978 festival. My location was across from the jail in Shad's Old Forge.additionally there were many wondering musicians such as Dave Hunt with his harmonica, ray rickets with his musical song, and washtub Jerry with his washtub bass. At the end of the day all 200 musicians would come up to Main Street for a giant jam session followed by a square dance on the, well, Square. It was an incredible way to end the day. That a festival was discontinued because it brought little revenue for the city.this would definitely be my favorite place in time.
