Random Talk / Re: The Newbies Thread

How many posts do you have to have before you are no longer considered a newbie? By the way...I love the website and have enjoyed my many hours of reading the threads...I eagerly await the announcement of the new attraction.

oops...I've got hours and hours of time on SDC fans reading past and current threads, however, my profile only shows just over 3 hours. I guess I need to start logging on instead of just visiting the site to read the latest threads. The only time I truly log on is when I want to reply to a thread...Love the website though and enjoy reading everybody's thoughts on the 2011 project and general thoughts on SDC...

Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC's 2011 Project

has anyone given any thought at all to the possibility that HFE is slowly transitioning to a point where Dollywood becomes the main cog in the chain?  It is located near the entrance to the most visited national park in the country.

But Branson is one of the most popular vacationing spots in the US...Surely HFE would never consider letting SDC slip to mediocrity...I am also a fan of refurbishing AP and sprucing up the ride with some alternate paths...

Now that the announcement has been made as to what is being added at Dollywood, when will we hear an announcement about SDC's new ride...Also, in an earlier response, somebody had made a comment about Roaring Falls being brought to SDC from CC...hopefully not to replace American Plunge...Surely there is no way American Plunge would be replaced...It's been there forever....

My family thought the saloon show was awesome this year...We went 3 different times and enjoyed it more each time we went...The saloon was packed and the crowd laughed throughout the show...Adam Western is a great actor...The saloon show is one of our favorite "attractions" that we must see on every annual trip we take to SDC...

Swoosh,
I know you do want to say too much, and I completely understand. However, can you tell us if it is going to be a thrill ride, something that you would enjoy, etc. Will it be a good replacement for the waterboggin and splash harbor? The waterboggin was becoming one of our favorite rides. I hated to see it go. My 4 boys loved splash harbor. Again, we hated to see it go. It will all be worth it however if there is a new thrill ride of some sort like the mystery mine.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Baggage Check

Please no baggage checks...Earlier there was a very popular thread about the "aura" of SDC...Lately, I've seen threads concerning the sell of alcohol at SDC (which would be an atrocity in my opinion) and now baggage checks. Both of these things would do a lot to destroy the "aura" of SDC. Of course, this is just my opinion, but I would hate to see either of these things happen.

While this sounds cool I'd like to see a Mystery Mine type of ride...Some sort of thrill ride...Swoosh, do you think this is a possibility or is Adventure Mountain a sure thing? Thanks :)

I'd love to have a Mystery Mine type ride....There is no question that whatever replaces the waterboggin should be a thrill ride of some sort...Please let it be...Swoosh seems to know a lot about the goings on in the park as far as construction goes...Is there even a possibility of getting a Mystery Mine type of ride?
Ya'll have a great day :)

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Spiritual feelings at SDC

I also appreciate the post....Another time I felt the presence of God was when Ricky Skaggs was the final performer of the Bluegrass Fesitival...Seems like that was 3-4 years ago. He practically preached a message during the show...I love the Bluegrass Festival...

I could actually feel the Spirit of God (the anointing) 2 years ago when I went to see Dailey and Vincent at the Opera House. They sang "By the Mark." At the end of the song they put down their instruments and sang the song worshipfully, acapella. It was beautiful. After the show, there were a couple of older gentlemen in the bathroom by the Opera House and I heard them talking about how that song brought tears to their eyes. Unfortunately I was unable to see Dailey and Vincent this year.

I don't know if this is the right place to post this or not. Sorry as I'm a newbie. Anyway, we just got back home from our annual 3 week trip to Branson and Silver Dollar City. As usual, we had the times of our lives. With 4 boys, season passes to the city are the only way to go. They love the rides and the various shows throughout the park, especially the Saloon Show. I just have to mention one concern however. Even though there are designated smoking areas, I see a number of people smoking outside those areas. I saw one gentleman get very nasty with a park employee when she directed him to a smoking area. My question is, would it be possible to make the whole park a non-smoking area. It seems like the area around the Powder Keg is very bad as far as smelling cigarette smoke. On a couple of different occasions both my family and myself were made sick from the smell of the smoke. Surely it would be possible to do without a cigarette during a visit to the park. Not trying to say anything bad about anybody who smokes, but a non-smoking park I think would even make it more family oriented. I'd be interested in hearing some of your thoughts on this and if you think it is something that could/would ever happen. Also, if you had a contact person from the park that I could contact about this issue I'd appreciate it.
Finally, I have to say thanks to all of you for making this an enjoyable website for me. I have learned much about SDC since discovering it.
