Branson Talk / Re: Larry The Cable Guy in Branson

Yes. Once the Blue Collar Comedy bus got a flat tire, Larry's bulb began to dim. He's pushing some heartburn pill on commercials now. I tried watching his show on Discovery, but it is just awful.

It might be about time for Larry the Cable Guy to start searching for his own Branson Theater. His 15 minutes have been over for a few years now and he might need a steady income. ;D

We will be there Waiting for the rope drop and OUTLAW MIGHT RUN

Catchy. I like it. Kinda like Buzz Saw Falls apart. They better get the reliability issues resolved soon or they could get the same kind of reputation and it's too good of a coaster to have to take it out within 5 to 10 years.

I hope they do. Like you said to good of a ride, but they sure are having their problems. My sister got stuck on it a couple weeks ago for about 45 minutes.

We will be there Waiting for the rope drop and OUTLAW MIGHT RUN  ;D   Also cannot wait for my fix of Reeds Springs Pizza CO. on Saturday evening. With the heat we might even do Nightwater Saturday. I imagine the daytime crowd will be terrible.

We are coming down for the holiday weekend and forgot it was the gospel music festival. Oh we'll no good shows to see for us. Hopefully the rides will be uncrowned on Sunday since all the gospel music fans will be concentrating on the music. Is that to much to hope for. ???

Other Parks / Re: DID you see this.?

Looks kind of calm and unexciting to me. It might make it as a novelty, but is not something anyone would travel very far to do.

You get that it is free wheeling and there is a chance it could flip over, right?
That says a lot of things, but calm and unexciting are not part of that list.

As far as people traveling to go ride this.  I don't think you get the point of this ride.  They just don't make them like this anymore.  This is a major THROW BACK style coaster.  The closest you can currently get to this is an Intamin bobsled and even those are no where near the quality of a wooden trough flying turns.

But to each his own.  I get that some of you are just SDCfanboys and don't really understand the industry outside of Branson and even then it is very limited.  Which is cool.  Not everyone enjoys the industry and what is going on as a whole - some people live very narrow topics and are happy just following that.

I see you cannot even have a opinion on here without the self proclaimed resident Theme park expert trying to exert his holiness. Sorry next time I will bow to your feet before I put my opinion in a post. And for your information I think you should know someone personally before you call them narrow your holiness.

walked on about 5 minutes after park opening on Memorial Day weekend. Later that day about a 30 minute wait. The info sign said 45 minutes though.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Outlaw Run: Best in Missouri?
« on: August 20, 2013, 10:15:18 PM »
i like outlaw run and it is a great groundbreaking coaster, but a little to short for me. My favorite in Missouri is The Boss at SFSL, a traditional woodie that gives a great thrill.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / What is theming a ride
« on: August 14, 2013, 05:08:15 PM »
So there seems to be a lot of discussion on theming rides lately. I thought I would give my opinion and see how others feel about it in a new discussion.

I really do not think SDC does much with theming anything. Look at outlaw run for example. They put some elements in the line and made a depot, but the ride has zero theming. Same for wildfire. PK has a little more because of the launch. Now you really cannot theme a roller coaster much, but if you look at Disney they themed Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain throughout the rides. To me that is putting a theme in the rides not just some outdoor cosmetics. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC's 2014 Project

Maybe a good solution would be to start moving some of the rides from GE to other parts of the park where they have small pockets of land available. Put 1 or 2 in the treehouse area. A few would fit nicely in the old water boggan area then this would free up the GE area for a new major attraction. I was really disappointed myself with GE since it is basically rides you can do at any traveling carnival in the country. Same thoughts on Ferris Wheels and other similar rides. I guess the parents with small children love it though and probably don't give a rats behind about theming.

I believe Hollywood is absolutely correct. I heard Jack or Pete in a interview last year saying they were going to be sold to a family member.

I think that they all Need a complete makeover. FM was great, but they could improve it so much with today's technology. I have really not liked it since it went to the shoot out concept. A 3d version with water effects land go back to the old storyline. To me it just looks ugly and unmaintained right now. Sorry I know that my opinion will not be popular with some, but when you can ride it over and over again without getting off I would think it is not a very popular attraction.

The entire treehouse area could be completely redone to attract people to a part of the city that seems to be dying. The last few times we have been midtown has been a dead zone. Maybe a dark ride that that is family oriented.

As for FITH. I wold just like to see another refurb and maybe the drop segment added at the bridge. This would also be a good ride to use 3d screen technology on and get rid of all the old animatronics.
As for AP, it just needs to be done new from scratch.

Been riding some of these attractions since about 1970 so I guess you could call me old, but I really think they need to move ahead. Like someone said, even Disney retires and refurbish classics.

Sorry pin trader I think I sent this as a private message by mistake.
