Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC's 2023 Project(s) and Park Developments
« on: November 07, 2022, 02:55:42 PM »
I expected a new entrance for everyone - not some special season pass perk for the more expensive tiers.

Ugh....

Just noticed: "Priority Gate Entrance"

What is this?

Brad's video mentioned a revamped entry system, and there will be a different gate for those passholders who opt to pay the higher fee.  We've talked about the entry being remodeled for a couple of years, and it sounds like that might come in some form for 2023 - another vintage memory succumbing to progress - but we just can't be sure how intrusive the new system might be on the classic entrance.  It may be no more than a dedicated turnstile.

Ive never understood the complaints about the entrance.
It never takes more than five minutes from off the train to through the turnstyles. It usually moves pretty good.
I dont get it.

There have been times I have seen the line stretch to where people were getting off the trams. There are days when it takes half an hour or more to get through the turnstiles. That is fairly rare I guess, but getting more common as the park grows and holds special events.

I think the bigger issue is that the park has simply outgrown the current setup and it's just not that ideal for all the trams. It would be nice to have covered waiting and better spots for trams to stop so they don't have so much trouble navigating around each other. Plus they just simply need more room in the plaza, more turnstiles, and more of everything else as the park keeps growing.

I agree with Shave. Then you add Christmas when the first parade is over and hundred are exiting the park just as new latecomers are coming in and the narrow path up to hospitality house is at a standstill. Hospitality house seems to be the big bottleneck.

I never really liked Dickens either way. Guess I have seen that story in so many different forms for so many years I just was burned out on it. If my group went to it I usually napped during it :). I really enjoyed the new show last year but will not see it this year since we are not going during OTC. I can handle the train and Grandpa story since it really does not shove religion down your throat. To each his own I guess but we come mainly for the lights and rides and not the shows.

With the rumors of a new larger train station going in where the current FITH sits, it makes me wonder with the recent train incident putting the train out of commission and now no references are being made to it on their website or social media, what if they don't bring the train back into operation until that project is done to give time for the media frenzy to die down and give the public the impression that things have been sorted out with it? Seems nuts they would actually have it out of commission for that long but still... considering how viral this incident went being on national news and whatnot, it wasn't good for SDC's publicity. I know none of the trains will likely be in operation this Christmas.

I seriously doubt they will shut down the train for that long. Everything seems to be a multi year project now. FITH is 2024 and the new stain is beyond that.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Train Crash?
« on: November 07, 2022, 02:35:03 PM »
Not only would I ride the train right now, but I’d bring my kids.
Ot’d be great.
The wreck was a fluke thing.
That train has had a lot of miles on it with no issues.
I have full faith in sdc fixing it, and doing it quick.
If people dont want to ride, then dont.
Whatever happened to personal responsibility?

Not sure you how you equate personal responsability with negligance or improper maintenance or lack of safety standards ? Personal responsibility goes out the window when things are not your fault. Are you saying the people on the train were responsible ?

That being said I will ride it again after the cause is found and corrected. Hopefully soon but whatever it takes to make it safe.

It could not be any easier. Do not know what to tell you except it works !!!  It works in Apple Wallet also. No more paper. That is a big plus.

Chuggington looks amazing!  It really isn't in them for SDC :(

It was mass chaos this weekend.  Basically kiddie bumper cars.  No one was paying attention to the lines on the floor that they wanted you to stay in.  There’s really very little to actually attraction.  Very temporary looking

I watched the Grand opening video and I was like they are basing a huge part of their kids fest marketing on this 😳. Looks more like a market to sell some Chinese junk to me. But, I’m not the demographic for it. Just looks like in this age push around trains would not be appealing.

Yea I think I will pass

Me too, Looks like a lot of Chinese made repop stuff. Nothing much of interest.

How on earth can a drone show be in theme?
How can electric Christmas lights be in theme?

The content that the show displays. Besides, Like above, how can a blaring Christmas tree be in theme or the entire street fest festival, or most everything they have added over the years.

Thought I might bring this up for discussion.
What does everyone think the possibility is of SDC getting a after hours drone show ? They seem to be gaining in popularity. I could see them doing it in theme and not much different from fireworks.

As much as I love the ride I do hope they keep the same story line but update with modern technology. Static dummies should give way to projection screens that really pop out at you. I’m just hoping for a good mix of storytelling and modern effects.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Refillable Mugs
« on: April 05, 2022, 02:11:36 PM »
SDC has made a mess of refillable mugs and cups. They can only blame themselves. Most employees do not even have a clue when I pull out my 50 cent refill glass mugs. We just quit taking them. Also have the dollar refill Christmas from some year but just to much hassle to carry it around all day. We do not drink sugary drinks anymore anyway, so we just put water in my backpack and avoid the confusion.

I believe that you can also stop by guest services and have them print you a physical pass and your bring a friend passes.

They said they chose digital delivery ?

I downloaded mine to my account and linked them in the app. Now, I never have to worry about a paper ticket again. Much more convenient. They are easy to add to Apple Wallet also.

Dollywood Discussion / Re: New skip-the-line pass for Dollywood
« on: February 11, 2022, 01:50:27 PM »
True, but I wasn't sure if it would be for all HFE properties or if it was just a trial run.

It's not even a trial. Its a survey !  They are just gauging the interest. Far from being implemented.

OK, A correction for above. You have to link it to the app and then you can add it to your wallet. Same with the BAF passes. Maybe only 2 years behind now :)
