Anyway, back onto the topic at hand, there's a nice place to sit and eat near ThuNderaTion, behind the food skillet stands. It's very wooded and has a nice view over the valley where the ampitheatre is, although there are usually plenty of people around.

I ate in that area last year. Yeah, it was really nice and peaceful in that area.

WOW, Eagle Rider. You've got an impressive array of theme park experience.

Oh, yeah, I've been to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk (though I've never had a chance to ride any of the rides).... Took an evening and came down from our chuch campground in Happy Valley and spent several hours walking around enjoying the sights and hanging out on the beach. Visiting Santa Cruz/Happy Valley is definitely one of the very few things I miss about living in California.

And goodness gracious, I forgot about Busch Gardens! I've been to BG Tampa, too. I'd like to go back, as I was a kid when I went, so didn't get to ride all the thrill rides.

I have no idea why it closed, but from the last time I was on it (I think it was '02 or '03), it did seem like it'd become a bit rundown. I imagine it was probably a structural issue, as SDC doesn't typically take down things unless it's a safety problem or something.

Hmmm... lessee... I'll go in order of first visit:

Disneyland
Silver Dollar City
Worlds of Fun
Walt Disney World -- Magic Kingdom
Walt Disney World -- MGM Studios
Knott's Berry Farm
Six Flags St. Louis

I think that's all so far...

I really can't decide on a single place in SDC that I can relax at because SDC as a whole is a place I go to to relax and get away from real life.

I enjoy the view and quietness in the Wilderness Church. I like the loud splashing of the waterfall behind the Lumberjack Camp. I love the endearing sounds of children squealing as they play at Geyser Gulch.

With the murmur of the crowds, the screams of coaster riders, and the general buzz of the atmospheric noises, it all adds up into a nice lulling sound that makes me feel peaceful no matter where I sit in the park to relax.

Ozark Marketplace / SDC-centric Youtube
« on: August 30, 2007, 09:31:33 PM »
My Youtube account is planned to feature all of the SDC-centric videos that I make, so I thought I'd post a link to it here:

http://youtube.com/profile?user=rjoyhelvie

And I'll use this thread to alert ya'll of any updates, the first of which shall be in this very post.

I just made and posted a quick parody commercial last night, wherein I spoof the Mastercard Priceless commercials using SDC as the topic.

Please excuse the quality of the clip. The original AVI file is actually quite high-quality, but Youtube compresses the heck out of videos.

It looks like a really promising show. It looks on par with "Listen to the River", which was/is my absolute favorite production of all the ones they've done in the Opera House (that I've actually seen, LOL).

I don't really get out much; I'm a strong introverted personality type, and I also don't have a license or car.... So I tend to stay at home most of the time.

So, what's everyone's plans for Labor Day weekend?

I'm hoping to go to the KC Irish Fest at least one day; I've never missed a single year of Irish Fest, so I just can't stay away. But they don't have as many groups performing of the people I've come to enjoy. So, I'm thinking of just going Saturday night for the Elders concert, during which they're gonna have fireworks.

I'm thinking of going to Santa-Cali-Gon on Monday, 'cause Liverpool's having a free concert there that day. I'm not really much into going to SCG, 'cause it's all the same stuff year after year, but I'd really like to see Liverpool perform.

I do wonder if perhaps that painting was indeed for Dollywood and was mis-labeled as being for Silver Dollar City; I've seen that happen before.

Most of the concept art pics came from one website of an artist who I guess did concept art for theme parks.... I have his website on bookmark, but it seems the website no longer exists. I'm pretty sure the Enchanted Forest painting was one of the ones on there.

My friends and I are aiming for the Sat December 15th weekend; my experience has always been pretty good weather-wise around the 16/17th of December down there.

Plus, Bring A Friend tickets don't work 'til December 13th for Christmas, so I have to wait 'til then to go; my friends both have season passes, but I don't, and the only way I'm gonna afford to go is if I use BAFs.

I'm really, really excited about the synchronization of the lights on the buildings.... That's gonna make this the coolest lighting show so far at SDC. I'll have to film the whole thing for posterity; I'm glad to have gotten last year's tree stuff on video, too... Since I thought they were going to be getting a completely new, 7-story tree at that time, I felt like I wanted to capture the final year for what they had.

Ah, yes, that song... Hmmm... I guess I shouldn't worry about my actual music video having copyrighted songs, seeing as how the slideshow does, too. LOL

That song is "Fire in the Hole" by the Elders. They're an Irish group from here in Kansas City, and they're HUGE here. My first time seeing them was at the KC Irish Fest, and when I heard that song, I knew *immediately* that I had to use it in an SDC video.

Sadly, it's difficult to get good video of the ride, so I wasn't able to do the on-ride video with the song. But I think I worked the pics in well with the lyrics; I had fun synchronizing it all.

I'll see about getting my actual video posted on my Youtube. The problem is keeping the quality high while trying to meet Youtube's 100mb maximum. It's a 7min vid, so it's difficult to make a copy that would be of good quality after all the compression vids go through when uploading to Youtube.

Well, unfortunately, I probably won't be making 'til December anyway, so both ya'll will probably beat me to it. :)

I have no problem taking the time to take pictures. If my stepdad is back from his job for a Christmas break by the time I go, I'm gonna see about borrowing his digital camera. I've always wanted to take more pictures of SDC, but I'm always limited with my technology.

I DO have plenty of video, though, and now that I've gotten the filming-SDC bug, I don't think I'll ever have another trip to SDC without my camcorder in my hand.

I have a picture slideshow of SDC on my Youtube, and I've been wanting to make more music videos (I have one, but I have to figure out what to do because it uses a copyrighted song)... My problem is that I have very little space left on my hard drive, so I've been unable to capture all my SDC video to my computer.

But one of these days soon I'll be getting a new, HUGE hard drive, and I'll have all sorts of SDC videos to put up.

I just saw your question on the blog and Conductor Sam's answer.

YAY! I was right that the decorations are layered over the tree. And YAY! They're not replacing the songs but adding to the playlist!

I would have asked the questions myself, but for some reason, it seems like my comments never make it through; I comment on almost every single blog entry, but they never show up....

Oh, there's absolutely no problem with you using the concept art; I mean, it doesn't belong to me... I only got lucky enough to find it on the 'net and save it. Feel free to use them.

Whenever I manage to get back down to the park, I will take a checklist with me and will take pics of everything I can possibly think of.
