Well, with having Splash Harbor adjacent to Geyser Gulch, you could re-theme GG to a Mississippi steamboat, which feature heavily in both Tom and Huck's stories. Could make it that it's docked at the dock of Tom Sawyer's hometown along the Mississippi.

Well, for me, I think the best type of tour for SDC would not be anything more than, say, $5 (if not free), and would be more of a history tour than an exclusivisity type thing. The description of the Boardwalk Tour was basically a history lesson, similar to paying a bit extra to do the Lantern Light tour at Marvel Cave. Of course, back then, the tour was only $1 a person.

Yeah, the colors on Geyser Gulch have always been a sore spot with me. I like the stuff there, but the colors are just SOOO out of whack with the rest of the SDC theme... A forest green/brown/burnt orange color scheme would work better, I think, but above all, I prefer fading/weathering so that it doesn't look so pristine. It's part of an 1880s mining town; it shouldn't be pristine.

I'd kinda like to work at the turnstiles, 'cause I'd love to be able to be the one to welcome people to the park and tell them that they've "got a great past ahead of [them]".

That, or at the umbrella stalls. Being the artist that I am, the idea of sitting at a booth and painting things on umbrellas really appeals to me. Although I guess they've got an airbrush tattoo stand in the Expo now? I wouldn't mind doing that.

Are there any parks besides Disney that do VIP tours?

Re-theming Geyser Gulch to Tom Sawyer is a BRILLIANT idea. I LOVE it. Anything that preserves Mark Twain-related theming at SDC is a good idea in my book.

You know, wouldn't it be cool if SDC took their public surveys to the next level and actually had some sort of an open meeting at the park where visitors can pitch ideas? There are so many wonderful ideas that people have come up with for SDC that I'd love to see incorporated, and I'd love it for SDC to know of all these great ideas.

PS: Hey, Steve, is there any way to change or get rid of whatever thing is turning "L O L" into "I use silly acronyms"?

Well, Mountain Country sounds a lot like Tom Sawyer Island, which is awesome. The Extreme Country sounds like it'd have stuff like rock climbing, which Worlds of Fun even has. And perhaps Kids Country would be a good replacement should they get rid of all the Huck Finn rope stuff in Tom Sawyer's Landing.

And of course what I like the most is the idea of the day and night campovers... If that includes night excursions into the rest of the park, I'm all for it. hehehe

Unless, of course, the Base Camp is actually an idea for a second SDC-owned campground.

Thanks, Coaster. It's been my dream for a few years now to work fulltime as a Citizen of SDC.

Something else that used to go on at SDC is they used to have a "Boardwalk Tour", where they'd have a Citizen take people around and tour the park. Of course, that was back before they'd expanded extremely far, but I've still always thought it'd be awesome to have a VIP tour like I've heard some other parks have. Tell cool trivia that people may not know, and maybe as part of being on the VIP tour get an exclusive VIP pin.

I don't remember the old track part of FitH, but I do remember when the bridge used to collapse...

Hmmm... Random trivia... Well, if you go on the Marvel Cave tour either before Memorial Day or on a day when the waterfall room is flooded, you'll be taken along the upper trail, and that's where you can see the reproduction of the Lynches' cabin that was used by Harold Bell Wright when he was writing Shepherd of the Hills (which, BTW, is 100 years old this year; I myself have got a first edition copy that my dad got me last year for my b-day).

Ummmm... Well, the petting zoo used to be over in Tom Sawyer's Landing near Becky's Carousel.

SDC used to give out silver dollars as change as a way of promoting the park when they first named it "Silver Dollar City".

The Main Street Square where the Gazebo Stage is now used to be the parking lot for the park.

A piece of info from Conductor Sam is that when Citizens reach a certain anniversary of working at the park (I think it's 25 years), it is commemorated by making a sign that uses their name that is then put up somewhere in the park. Terry Sanders has his hanging up next to the little waterfall at Mary's Springhouse; it says "Elect Terry Wayne Sanders for Stone County Judge"... it also says "Birdie Tweedle, Campaign Manager". Birdie Tweedle is the name of the Deputy character that Terry plays at SDC.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head at the moment.

Well, I've been talked into joining... I don't watch football and I know very little about various teams, so this'll be a guessing game on my part. I've done this once before with March Madness a couple years ago; my high school Algebra 2 teacher had us fill out the papers and whenever you got one right, you'd get extra credit points. I actually didn't do too bad with randomly guessing. So...... here goes:

Denver Broncos @ Buffalo Bills
Tennessee Titans @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Miami Dolphins @ Washington Redskins
Carolina Panthers @ St. Louis Rams
New England Patriots @ New York Jets
Atlanta Falcons @ Minnesota Vikings
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cleveland Browns
Philadelphia Eagles @ Green Bay Packers
Kansas City Chiefs @ Houston Texans
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Seattle Seahawks
Chicago Bears @ San Diego Chargers
Detroit Lions @ Oakland Raiders
New York Giants @ Dallas Cowboys
Baltimore Ravens @ Cincinatti Bengals
Arizona Cardinals @ San Fransisco 49er's

Now, let's see how well I do with random guessing, eh? L O L

Yeah, they turn the waterfall off for the Christmas season and string lights down it to look like a waterfall of Christmas lights.

I've seen it turned off other times, too, usually due to cold temperatures. I do believe it was off when I was there in April; that weekend was EXTREMELY cold.

But I was there last summer, and it was definitely on.

It's a tiny little thing called Adventure Oasis in Independence. It's one of those residential-type places that has a small swimming pool, a couple slides, a kiddie area, and a not-very-long lazy river. It's only $6 for residents, so it's a nice deal for those who can't afford to go to Oceans of Fun.

It just opened a couple years ago, and this was my first time there. It was nice. Thankfully it wasn't quite as hot as it had been here, and they let me wear my t-shirt over my swimsuit so I didn't get sunburned. With my extremely pale skin, I get burned REALLY easily. Luckily, I came away from the park with zero burn! YAY! :)

Congrats! Sounds like your team's really doin' good. That's awesome.

Not much to report on my end. Just had a whole week home alone, which was kinda nice. It was quiet and peaceful.

On Monday, I went with my dad and a couple others to the little waterpark that's down the street from my house. It's the only the second time I've ever been to a waterpark, and it was the first time I've ever been brave enough to go down one of the big water slides. Of course, I only did the one where you ride a tube down, so I guess I took a step up from the Waterboggan (which I've not ridden in YEARS).... Next year, I'll hopefully be thinner and therefore feel more confident in going down one of the slides where it's just you and nothing else.

The waterfall is still there. You can't walk behind it anymore, but the waterfall is definitely still there.

Speaking of the American Plunge splash zone, I swear I remember there being an observation bridge over the splashdown that was close enough for people to get wet from the splash.... But the bridge that is there isn't remotely close enough to get wet from...

Did they change the bridge or something?

I've never really thought about relaxing by the splash zone, but then again, we don't usually spend much time in that area.

I do like to stand alongside Lost River and watch people go by. For me, one of the more relaxing eating experiences is sitting at the Riverside Ribhouse and watching people go by on the ride.
