I think a haunted mine dark ride in the vein of Disney's Haunted Mansion would be cool and something that all ages could enjoy.

I hope I'm that resilient at 87!

I think it'd be cool if they added another attraction that can have people of any age ride it, like how the Flooded Mine is. Too bad they don't seem interested in bringing back the Diving Bell any time soon...

Ah, okay, thanks! That's why I don't recognize it, 'cause I haven't been in that particular part of the Landing in *ages*.

Here's my chance to show that I *don't* know everything about SDC:

In the "More Lights" picture that has the Gone Fishin painted on a fence..... Where in the world is that building?

And what landmark in the Landing are those tracks near, so I can try to find them myself whenever I go again...?

I don't know anything specific about the parade, but Conductor Sam did say in his comment to me on the blog that he'd be talking about the parade soon.

I got to see Steven Curtis Chapman in concert with Mercy Me a couple years ago around Christmas-time (they promoted Chronicles of Narnia at the concert), and it was wonderful.

If I can make it to SDC for Christmas, I will DEFINITELY be recording video. I might have to buy me another camcorder battery, since the one that came with the camera can't go long anymore without needing a charge. I'll take plenty of tapes with me; I'd like to get all six songs on the tree on video.

To tide everyone over, though, I'm working on making a Christmas video that I hope to have finished soon.

Yeah, Conductor Sam posted about this on the blog; said the addition cost $1 million and includes 1 million lights on the Main Street Square alone.

My thoughts on the music choices (based on samples heard on iTunes):

Carol of the Bells (David Foster): This is the song that's been used for many years with the tree and I've always loved this very upbeat version of the Christmas classic.

Interlude (Steven Curtis Chapman): Listening to the MP3 on the blog, this sounds like a great piece that is fun and fast enough to make for a great lighting sychronization.

Joy to the World (Boston Pops): Being Boston Pops, this is a nice, fast orchestral version of the song that will lend well to the lighting synchronization.

Medley (Michael W. Smith): I don't know WHICH medley this is, as there are three on the album--Conductor Sam didn't specify which one. From the samples on iTunes, the third medley (featuring an upbeat Celtic-sounding version of "I Saw Three Ships") sounds the most upbeat and therefore seems to fit in more with the style of the lighting show.

Suite from Polar Express (Alan Silvestri): I LOVED that movie; I think I saw it two or three times in the theaters. This piece is a great sampling of all the wonderful, fun music in the movie and should be great to see used with the lights.

Sleigh Ride (Boston Pops): Your classic rendition, and being that it's traditionally a pretty upbeat song, this should work well, too.

So, all in all, I think we've got a GREAT selection of music, some wonderful lights, and an all-around AWESOME show to look forward to! I'm so excited!!!

Construction/Rumors / Re: CC's 2008 Project
« on: September 27, 2007, 11:16:23 PM »
I've never been to CC and I hope I get to go someday soon.

It's too bad HFE can't do something like build a monorail-type system that would take people from SDC to CC; something that would connect the parks so that people would be more motivated to visit both.

I think the biggest thing is I really think CC should have a later closing time. It closes at, what, 10pm? For a park whose concept is to be a night-time complement to SDC's day-time hours, it doesn't give people who go to SDC for a full day much time to go over and enjoy CC to its full potential.

I mean, SDC closes at something like 6pm except for the show. Why? Because they know that a lot of people are going to be going to shows in Branson.

So, what of those people who go to SDC then a show and want some late-night entertainment for a good price? By the time their 8pm shows are out, CC's closed.

For those who like to go play mini-golf or drive go-karts at midnight, I think it'd be nice if CC stayed open 'til 12am or 1am.

It made sense to me, Copper; the Branson Blog had an article about the expansion back in February and included a photoshopped satellite image to illustrate what the new parking is supposed to look like. You can see it here (and you can click on the image to make it larger):

The only way they'd get my money is if OOF is included in the price of WoF, without upping WoF's charge.

I went to Adventure Oasis, a tiny little place, here in Independence on Labor Day weekend and it was $6 and I have a perfect time. If I had the choice between AO and OOF, I'd take AO, small as it is, because for $6, I got a pretty darn good deal.

Schlitterbahn, on the other hand... The way it looks like it's going to be, I wouldn't mind spending the same as going to a theme park to go there. Shoot, I'd plan a whole weekend and stay in the Treehaus.

Basically, on an individual level, OOF has already lost me without me ever having even been there.

Oh, it is SOOO going to hurt OOF. I mean, a 300-acre water *resort*? One that when finished can offer year-round attractions? A lazy river system that gets rid of 99% of standing in line? Transportation from your cool treehouse room straight to the attractions via waterway?

Oh, yeah, OOF is in SO much trouble. :)

Truthfully, I don't remember much from Shanty Town. From what I recall, it was like your typical wooden kids play area with ropes, slides, and places to climb over and through.

I think that 30,000 was probably lost early in the year due to the weather. I think the weather affected a lot of places in the region.

I fully expect them to completely regain their footing over the fall and Christmas season. With the new stuff for both festivals, they should do well in bringing the people in.
