Random Talk / Re: SDC Fans Teachers--Who's Ready to Go Back to School?!!
« on: August 29, 2009, 04:52:03 PM »
Wow, we have some award weiners here on this here board... I was Teacher of the Year in my district last year.  ;D (won multiple media awards from MSTA as well, but that's another story).

Maybe I'm too "old school" but I feel when a kid misbehaves, he needs to have his butt swatted by the principal if he is a repeat offender.  It worked when we were in school why are their precious egos so much more fragile now then when we were in school?

If the Cardinals win both games this weekend the magic number will be basically "0" as 10 games back (the Cubs) going into September is basically a "death wish" for a club this late in the season.

Well I'm definitely not helping the "movement" at all at our district because anytime PBS is mentioned I always make the accronymn mean something different, by saying oh you mean (Peanut Butter Sandwich, Public Broadcasting Service, Pure Bull S#!T, etc.)

This is our "planning" year and I guess we're going to "implement" next year.  Whatever.  We did the Character Ed a couple of years ago and it feel flat within a month.  This too will pass I'm sure without much fanfare.  It just won't work in Band, you can't try to implement "warm fuzzies" on something as military-esque as band.

Sort of changing topics, but is it true they did away with the STARR program?  We haven't had one of those "teachers" visit our school in a couple years now because the last one to visit our school got laughed at because her "ideas" was so lucrative.

IDK about you guys but when I get home I collapse on the sofa in exhaustion.  I am completely zapped and it has never been this way before.  We switched to 8 hour days this year and it is taking its toll on me.  I'm also sick of fighting with Lumen, our online grading system.  It has more bugs then it is worth.  Oh and on top of everything else that I have to do as Director of Bands, this is our year for MSIP review -- that will be loads of fun.  Our administration is already getting worked up on that -- not sure why, we've met AYP the last three years in a row so it will probably just be a "text book" review as opposed to a full one.  Whatever.

Oh is anyone else having their district adopt the "PBS" system for discipline?  Sounds like a bunch of crock to me.  There is no way it would work in band - band is way too miliatry-esque for a "positive behavior system"   ::)

Personally, I will be happy when this first full week of school is over.

9 games out now.  I would say that their season is over.

You should be fine the weekend after Labor Day.  That's opening weekend for Mizzou football so most of the state will be in Columbia.  I want to say OU, OState, kU and Arkansas all have home games that weekend too so it will probably be rather quiet.

With that being said you might have a few tour busses still show up, but they'll be there for the shows and not the rides.

Well we're getting closer to the point where we can safely say that the CARDs will win the NL Central.  Ready for the playoffs and the WS. :D

SDC Memories/ Park History / Re: Rube Dugan's???
« on: August 22, 2009, 08:09:26 PM »
I want the water/laser show from Celebration City to move to Echo Hollow.  They could change out scenes with whatever festival is going on at the time.  It would also give an excuse for the park to be open later in the summer.

Rube Dugan could be "re-imagineered" to be part of the transportation section of the Grand Expo.  You'd have to change the story line some, but a submarine at a world's fair would not be out of the question... and since they should also add Roaring Falls to that area a lake would need to be built as well.  botta bing botta boom your problem is solved.

Noah's Ark in Wis Dells has a Shoot-the-Chutes at their park and one could argue that even Oceans of Fun has one with Monsoon - so it is not too much a stretch if they wanted to move it over there.

I think if the Cardinals can stretch the lead to 8 games over the Cubs, then they'll pretty much be a lock for winning the Division.  We're getting pretty close to the point where the "magic number" comes into play.

CUBS fell into a burnin' ring of fire -- they went down down down and the flames went higher.  And it burns burns burns the ring of fire -- the ring of fire. :D

CARDINALS WIN!!!  LEAD IS NOW 6 GAMES.
Starting to really pull away now.  I sure hope this makes it tough on the other teams to try to make a late season run *cough*BrewCrew*cough*'stros*cough*

Um, Themeparkguy.  Not trying to rub it in or anything, but the Cubs are now 4.5 games back after today's loss.  This is the 5th game in a row the Cubs have lost and the last 10 games the Cubs are 3-7.  In fact it has almost been a week since the Cubs have won a game -- and if you overlook last Saturday's win, you have to go all the way back to 4th to see another win.
