FYI:  Ticket prices at most Orlando parks for one day tickets are $80+

With all do respect, Swoosh, I think comparisons to any Orlando parks are irrelevant. SDC is a totally separate experience, in a very different region of the country. It's not necessary for HFEC's survival, it's nothing more than gouging the consumer. Pure and simple.

With all DUE respect, that's the problem.  You are expecting Disney-quality attractions at a Six Flags price when you go to SDC.  It just doesn't work that way.  When you pay for Six Flags quality, that is what you are going to get.  Do you go into Olive Garden and complain that you are having to pay more than at Fazoli's for basically the same thing?  No, because the QUALITY is higher at Olive Garden.... much the same for SDC and SF

...and here I was just going to say that even though I got a raise from last year, I am taking less home per month since they raised the amount being taken out for Teacher's Retirement to 14% this year.

It would be nice if our rate of pay would increase as much and as quickly as our "rate of with-holdings"

I know how you feel, I finished my master's in curriculum last year, and I take home about $50 a month more than last year even after bumping up on the scale.

Well it just seemed to hurt more this year because I am down to only one source of income due to my recent divorce.... so it would have been nice to have actually been able to keep some of that extra income from my raise

^^No, that's way too far away from us.  My school is up in the Northeastern part of the state.  The farthest south we get is Columbia... though we were invited (and have accepted) to march in KC St. Patrick's Day Parade in March.  The plan is to also go march at the Cotton Bowl Parade in 2011 or 2012.

^I know what you mean about good teachers crying.  I personally cannot put my finger on what it is about this year that is making it that much more stressful than years in the past.  I think PBS might be some of it, but I question if something like that would affect all aspects of education as much as it seems to be.  It's not the kids, I love my students, even the bad ones, so IDK.

IDK about you other teachers, but this school year thus far has been a rough one.
I've never had burnout this early in the school year before.

Swoosh...Is anything going to be added for next year? Please say it's so...We've got to have something new for next season...

Oh sure.  They have quite a few new additions to the festivals that have already been confirmed.  They will have a new show in the opera hous for Kidsfest and it sounds like some big names will be there for BBQ and Picnic.  Some other new festival things for sure.

If you are talking attractions, be patient.  The park has said they will release that information when season passes go on sale.

Also someone mentioned no visible construction yet... it's only October.

White Water Discussion / Re: New Survey

Of the 4 major waterparks in the Missouri area (I'm including Schlitterbahn even though it is in KCK) - White Water is probably at the bottom.

1. Hurricane Harbor
2. Oceans of Fun
3. Schlitterbahn (due to lack of rides right now, but it will only get better)
4. White Water

Personally, this is what I think needs to happen at this park.

1. Completely rip out and redo the kiddie area.  Add a Zamperla ride package and be done with it.
2. Fix the rapids ride or rip it out and put something new in there.
3. Remove all the remenants of the go-cart track and put something new in there.
4. Remove Nightmare Mine's building.  That is prime real estate that is being wasted.
5. Fix (and keep it fixed) ErUPtion or get rid of it.
6. Move Diamondback's entrance to outside of the main store.  It makes no sense for it to be there.
7. Remove the Stunt Show & Arena, it's past its prime and is not worth even watching.

---
8. ADD rides from Zamperla that the whole family can ride together.
9. ADD rides that have higher PPH capacity
10. ADD a Marquee rollercoaster, even if the rollercoaster is a used Corkscrew

Well then why didn't anyone have the marbles to tell us the Waterboggan area was in fact the next site for development from day one? It's not as if that's letting the proverbial cat out of bag.

Because even though it appears as if things are "cut and dry" when it comes to announcements, it's not.  Things change and shoot we've seen entire projects completely cancelled when we thought they were a go.  Fact of the matter is, we really don't have to say anything, but the three of us have.  We told you there were clues if you knew where to look for them.  One person mentioned the flags on the WB lot and I believe all three of us confirmed you should look there.  I will admit it was humorous watching some of the other guesses... and who is to say some of that won't happen eventually?  In the end it comes down to the fact that it is NOT our money that is being spent on the capital improvements and thus we do not feel that it is our place to let the cat out of the bag for the park.  They have their own time agenda and while I cannot speak for the other two, I will respect that.
