I'd say it's all about gathering evidence to protect the park, the employees, and the company.

The initial problem with this is that it will have to be a local park.  There is no infrastructure to support it (i.e., hotels and other amenities) in the immediate area.  It could be a good thing for places like Joplin and Tulsa if they are able to draw visitors.

Or maybe they just thought that Ozark Mountains is better branding than Branson, which has a reputation for being a tourist trap.

That’s the kicker. Branson’s  reputation is not the same as Pigeon Forge, with its beautiful National Park nearby. It’s more of a backwards hick reputation and it has never evolved from “The live country music show capital” status.  They are wise to rebrand that connection and try to emphasize some of the things that have made Dollywood more successful.  Hint:  Dolly helps, but it’s about more than a figurehead.

I would love to see some retro items in the gift shops featuring the 1970's logo. I think SDC is missing a merchandising opportunity there.

There are 70s retro items in the Ozarks Marketplace.

I just noticed on the SDC webpage that the logo in the upper left hand corner (the iconic axe and log) has SILVER DOLLAR CITY OZARK MTNS instead of Branson Missouri or just Missouri.  Has this already been discussed and I missed it?  Does anyone know why they changed it to OZARK MTNS?  Just curious.

I just noticed the same thing, yesterday.  I thought it interesting, as well.

Dollywood Discussion / Re: Dollywood first time

I believe that it is now one discounted ticket per season pass. In the past, I think you could purchase 2 discounted tickets per pass. I would call and ask and then I would even ask at the actual ticket booth when you are purchasing them; you never know if they would go ahead and give you another at the discount.

That’ll definitely be our plan. Thank you.

I know we get half-priced tickets for Dollywood with our SDC season passes, but can I use one season pass to purchase more than one ticket for Dollywood?  We have three season passes, but we need four Dollywood tickets.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2023 Crowds / Trip Reports
« on: March 24, 2023, 07:39:37 PM »
Looking ahead to Christmastime, we used to visit the week of Thanksgiving and it would be dead. Especially the day before thanksgiving and the day of thanksgiving. Now it's so busy we do not enjoy going during this time anymore. So this year we are looking at visiting the Sunday and Monday after Thanksgiving, so the 26th and 27th. We have teenage boys who like to ride the rollercoasters multiple times. I know Sunday may still be a little busy but should that Monday be pretty low crowds?

Just keep in mind that the crowds diminish after the second parade.

On average, don’t they get sued at least once a day?

Massive expansions can also be derailed by pandemics, economic downturns, Chinese balloons, and alien invasions.

Don't forget the canned tomato clue...or was that a red herring?

The James/Younger gang committed their first bank robbery on February 13th, 1866 in Liberty Missouri.  Could the date have something to do with that?  And if not then at least I threw in some Missouri History.  You're welcome History Buff!   :)

If only!  There are so many blown opportunities to educate.

Hmmm, some are going to speculate that it's somehow related to FITH. I could see them making a half announcement - letting people know that FITH is in its final year and teasing the next thing. They wouldn't want to announce the new ride too early since that may encourage people holding off until next year to visit. The recent closure of Splash Mountain and the public's reaction to that may have shifted their strategy to closing FITH. They must know people would be mad if it closed suddenly without warning at the end of the year even with a "replacement" on the way. People are still mad about Lost River...

But I agree it's probably something smaller. Either a food stand or a summer event most likely.

Any chance of a new show in Red Gold?  Probably not if they didn't market it during the season-pass-selling frenzy.

Odds are it's the new "food court" area along with the furnishings store.

They've canned Bob!!!
