General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: SDC postpones opening!!
« on: April 16, 2020, 08:04:03 AM »
Here is a thought, and most likely dumb, but a thought none the less. I know they begin selling the next years SPs in November. Do yall think they will make this event earlier to help generate much needed income for themselves? I keep waffling on how good of an idea this is. Not asking for them to be discounted, keep them the same price as they would have been just a couple months early? Maybe they release them in November for a reason I do not know. Highly possible.

But little by little the modern world is creeping in like a virus eventually making SDC just like any other place. Which is fine, they have to keep up or pack up. Will I still go? Not as much as I once did. Buying SP will not be a yearly event anymore. No matter what color they slap on the place, it will still be the same kind of fun. I mean, a red chair sits the same as a blue.

This feels like the thing to do but boy will that HURT financially. Think of all that income lost to 2021 if SPs become usable in 2021 as well. I dont think there is a right answer in any of this anyways.  :-[ :-\ :o

Here is a thought, probs crazy, but if and when this beautiful place opens again........I (IMHO) feel the crowds will be full on week of Christmas levels for a good portion of the time. I think I am going to scrap any plans to visit this year and try again 2021.

Why does this make me so very disappointed? Garish colors dont belong! But maybe it will look better in person? I hope....

This is just crazy to watch. I know it is all for the best and understandable but just hard! The calendar shows TBD until June 1 (if not later). That does not give all that much time before Christmas and getting them lights up. Do they not usually use off days in the fall to put lights up? Do yall think that they will make the season longer (into January February) to make up for the time lost?

I had to look up Chipas....it looks like fun! I would also like to see something like Ripsaw Falls at the Universal. I have NEVER been on it personally, but the youtube videos make it look amazing. Both in my small town opinion would be great replacements.

Not sure if I am digging the water roller coaster deal. I was not a fan of Buzzsaw Falls either. I would hope that if anything were to happen they would update this ride either by replacing it with something like but greater or taking it out entirely. No more roller coasters! I know I wont see the last of roller coaster building but yall, I am personally over it.

Hall of Fame is a nice place. :) I have stayed there. It was clean, quiet and had a nice breakfast. The owners are just so nice!! I would suggest this place time and again.

I won a pre-Amazon copy of Mark's book a few years ago on this site.  He did a Rube Dugan Trivia Contest and both I and Missing The Green Trams (whatever happened to her?) both won a rough draft.  I highly recommend the book.  I hope Mark sells a ton of them- he's a great guy and a great writer!

Duelist

Dont worry, I still lurk on here.

Speaking of passes....

This seemed interesting? But why just for Tulsa families?

I have a plan to be at the city the 20th and will have one spare ticket if someone needs it. I wont be there until 3 or so though. Will anyone else be there and need it?

They have also changed the free BAF tickets.

FREE March 17 - May 17 (Not valid 4/4)
$30 May 26 - June 12
$30 July 25 - August 9
FREE August 17 - September 18 (Not valid September 5 & 6)
FREE November 29 - December 30 (Not valid Saturdays)

The whole reason we buy season passes was for all the FREE tickets. 30.00 is still a good deal. I am still not thrilled about this change though.

I am okay with the increase in price BECAUSE they now have a 9 month payment plan.

With that being said, we will NOT be buying this year. I just dont like the changes happening. Not my cup of tea.

I am in the minority here but what is so intriguing about pumpkins ?  I would not walk here to my garage to see a pumpkin. But a full blown crafts festival. YES. As long as the merchandise being created was new and relevant. BUt a carved pumpkin would put me to sleep very fast. I guess it does not take much to entertain people anymore.

^^^^
Couldnt agree more..

Hear hear!

I guess "we" arent the Demographic they are shooting for anymore.. :-\
