Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC’s 2022 Project(s) and Park Developments

When did Napa become the Official Transportation Partner of Silver Dollar City? It looks like it was added to the website at the beginning of August, but I can't find any press releases or anything about the partnership.

This is from May and it headlines Dollywood, but t also mentions SDC towards the bottom:

We haven't been this year either.  This is the first time in years that we haven't gone in spring and/or summer.   Our first visit is also planned the 2nd week of Sept and then we'll be back in Nov and in Dec for Christmas.   Although I don't post often, I am on this site pretty much daily to review posts and news.

Hi Viking!

We tend to go the first or 2nd week of November each year.  We used to always go for a bit on Friday night and then go back on Saturday.  Over the years, Saturday has gotten absolutely crazy at the park, as far as crowds, but that is every weekend now.  My recommendation would be to go on a weekday if you can and if you want to go on Saturday/Sunday, I would be there before the chains drop (about an hour before the park officially opens).   The traffic is unbelievable during weekends and the earlier you get in, the better!

You definitely want to see Dickens Christmas Carol and Show Lover's passes are a good thing if it is crowded.  They are $10/person and guarantee you seats in first so many rows.   The lines for this show can get long and people start lining up and hour or more before it starts, and if you have a SL pass, you can just walk right up at any time after the doors open and you will be guided to your seats.  There have been some recent changes to this show, but it is still a good one to see.  There are other live shows that are always fun and if you have time, would look into.

The parade is always fun and there are two of them (6p and 8p, I believe).   And the new Christmas tree is definitely a must see for the animated lights.

Tons of great food since you last visited.  They have a new smokehouse that for theme park food, is remarkably good.  The apple turnover with cinnamon ice cream is a personal favorite!

Depending on temperatures during your visit (first of November isn't usually too bad) you might consider renting a locker to store a coat for the day if it would be needed during the night.

The crafts people are still active during Christmas.

As far as your hotel, I have no experience there.  There is so much to do in Branson during Christmas.  Most of the shows on the strip are Christmas themed and are good.  The Landing has an animated tree along with the fountains and plenty of food/shopping, if that's your thing.   Shepherd of the Hills usually has a great Christmas display.  I am sure others can chime in on this too.

The food scene has definitely gotten better over the years in Branson.  As mentioned above, The Landing has lots of options, but will be busy.  There are some really good BBQ places in town now (Danna's and Gettin' Basted).

Prepare for LOTS of people no matter what days you are in Branson as Christmas in Branson/SDC has become a national pull the last 10+ years.  Enjoy!  It's our favorite time of the year down there.

I am not trying to speculate and want to be respectful of the situation. I thought I read somewhere it happened at a ride and have noticed on the SDC App that TNT was "temp closed" yesterday and it shows "temp closed" this morning, so was curious if that's where it happened. Not asking anyone to answer, it was just merely an observation and I could be way off base.

You might be on to something.   KY3 had this in their updated report today.

"The Division of Fire Safety’s Amusement Ride Safety Unit dispatched investigators to the scene on Thursday. At this time, they say the ride is not in operation. They tell us the incident remains under investigation."

2025: SW26 construction begins
2026: SW26 opens

Any hints?  :)

I never had the privilege of seeing that show before Dickens.  We didn't start coming to SDC until 2007.  I've always liked Dickens and I will admit that I liked IaWL, but am looking forward to something new if it's done right.  Of course, when we go at Christmas, we usually are not riding any rides (with exception of train, FITH and FM) so the more shows the better for us.

I am thinking it will be an expanded version of the show they had outside behind Red Gold last year.

I think it will be nice, but not at the IAWL standard.  Biggest takeaways I saw was, 12 performers with a live band.  $500K production and they've been working on it for two years.   All about traditions of Christmas is what they say.

It looks like the current plan is that Dickens' will return with new music, there will be a new Broadway style show called Home for Christmas and the Saloon show will return to the saloon for Christmas.

Good

Looking forward to it!

General Silver Dollar City Talk / West Coast Perspective of SDC

What a great article about SDC.  This writer goes into great detail about the park and was obviously (and rightfully) impressed.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Dickens characters fired?

There’s a lot more to the story.  I wouldn’t count on seeing Dickens, Wonderful Life or even Rueben’s ever returning to the park and if they do, they will be completely different shows.

And all 3 Sons were in Christmas Shows.

In the end, the truth will come out... not my story to tell.

I sure will be following this closely as these shows were my main reasons for re-upping season passes every year.  We loved Dave and Rachel and am shocked to hear they are gone.   What a shame and I sure hope the truth does come out.

Is the Cowboy Fest out again? I didn't see anything listed on the website. Their latest webpage is not all that user friendly, so maybe I'm overlooking it.

According the the website https://www.silverdollarcity.com/theme-park/Festivals/Harvest-Festival, the Harvest Festival in the Fall will have Chuck Wagon Cooking with Kent Rollins and the Cowboy Emporium to go with the visiting craftsmen and Pumpkin Nights.   Not sure if that was what you meant?

I'm sure it has been shared before, but I came across this documentary on Dogpatch a couple of years ago.   Pretty good.

Branson Talk / Top Of The Rock - New Lodge
« on: January 22, 2021, 03:34:16 PM »
Anyone heard what happened to the new lodge that was supposed to be being built at Top of the Rock?  Last thing I could find about it looking at Google, is the original stories back in early 2018 and they stated that construction was supposed to start later that summer.   Just curious.
