General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Opening Day at SDC
« on: March 15, 2019, 08:31:27 PM »
I'm sorry.  I understand thinking the food is costly.  But honestly- the prices aren't far off of what you can buy outside of the park.  I spend more at Taco Bell or McDonalds on my meal than I do at Percy's with the season pass discount.  And for being at a theme park?

Seriously, when you compare SDC's food prices to what just about every other theme park out there charges, what airports charge, what movie theaters or sports arenas charge, they're downright cheap in comparison, especially when you drop on a season pass discount, which many of us on here have.  I'm not sure what some of you are expecting, but I'm not sure that it's necessarily realistic.

Looks like it's going to be a really slow upload for some reason.  So look for the video on my YouTube channel tomorrow morning

TT last car on one of the trains continues to not work and they ran it empty.  This seemed to be the case for a lot of last year as well.  WOW.

FITH seemed to be in good shape, smelled of fresh paint.

Food prices continue to rise.  The buffets are now $17.49, way out of control for that if you ask me.  I remember just a couple of years ago it was $12.99 which was about right.  I noticed the hamburgers all seemed to be well over $10 now, as were all of the skillets.  I never did really notice where they moved the rib house since they tore all that down. There is sure a massive amount of construction going on there. Drink refills on the refill cups is now $1.72 IIRC.
I didn't get by a few of the places you mentioned today- like Flooded Mine and the taffy place.  Happy to hear that Flooded Mine got some TLC.  The saw worked at the beginning of the season last year as well, so hopefully it keeps working for a while.
I noticed the paint smell on FITH as well.  I think they need to vent the building just a tab if I'm still smelling it the day after you.  lol
TT was filling the last car on every train today.  They seem inconsistent with when they fill it and when they don't.  Honestly I wonder if it's as much due to staffing levels (and trained workers) as anything else.  Most of the time when I've seen them not fill the last car it was on days with lower attendance.
I don't recall the buffets every being lower than $16 since we've been here (2011).  Are you sure you're not confusing the breakfast buffet price for the lunch/ dinner buffet?  Also when you compare their dinner buffet prices to what is out of park (Golden Corral in Branson, for example, is about $16-17/ person with drinks) and what other parks charge for their buffets ($40/ person is typical at Disney, Cedar Point was over $18 a person last year at their Midway Market, and the one Six Flags park we ate at last year was almost $30 a person), it's actually a pretty reasonable price for all you can eat, especially inside of a theme park.  Knock off a season pass discount, and it's actually a pretty good deal.

Photos from today are all posted.  I just did a real quick passthrough on them- a few crops and that's about it.  You can see everything- lots of construction, but also a good number around the park as well- on my photo site at:https://sirwillow.smugmug.com/Amusement-Parks-Roller/Silver-Dollar-City/14-March-2019-Opening-Week/
I'm in the process of rendering the video now, so I'm actually optimisted that I may have it posted and live in about an hour and a half to 2 hours.  Depending on how fast my computer decides to work.  :-)

Well, so far the weather looks like it's decent, but the rain is coming.  They might get a little time in before it starts to wash everything out.
I'll be there tomorrow (Thursday), which outside of a bit of wind looks to be a pretty decent day.  I'll do what I can to get photos and a video of the day posted Thursday night or Friday morning.

Lots of the locations are off, but pointing in the "general area".  Like Buckshots is showing inside the Flooded Mine instead of next door, but it's sort of in the right region.  Definitely some issues there.  Without being a web coding guy, it's hard for me to say that it's because someone doesn't know where they are vs. issues with the coding and location finding itself.

With the new 2019 season approaching us with less a week away, what are you guys expecting to be changed??

Any speculations or hopes??

Well, I'm betting that the riverfront area looks very different.  :-P

I'm hoping to make it out next Thursday to get a look at the construction and other new things around the park.  It'll be the only day I might have a chance.  But curious as to who else is planning on making their way out to the park next week?

Branson Talk / Re: The Branson Coaster Addition?
« on: March 07, 2019, 07:42:48 PM »
I heard it was going to be a sky coaster or something like that.

Just one little area like that?  I highly doubt it will be a sky coaster.  Sky coasters require at least 2, and really 3, anchor points for the support and hoisting towers, plus another spot in the center where they would load/ unload.

With that small of a footprint, it looks like something small.  Drop/ shot tower maybe?  A sling shot could also work since it only needs 2 towers and they can be fairly close together.

Authorized users only.

You don't have to download it to watch it.  Just hit the play button.

It was also reuploaded 3 weeks ago by another youtube user at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEUty0PyrR4&t  (I don't know if they had permission for this or not)

Hey, everyone.

I was hit be a bad case of SDC withdrawl symptoms this afternoon, so I started digging around on the SDC website.  I found under the Press Room section an excellent video regarding the SDC train.  I personally had never seen it before.

The reason you haven't seen it before is it was just released and posted 2-3 weeks ago.  So it's brand new.  Love seeing Andrew, Noah, and a bunch of the other guys that I worked with on the train.  It's a great video that'll give you a look at some of what I saw every day.

Looks like an incredible trip.  Wishing you guys the best and lifting up prayers for your son and his treatments.
We just got back from the first WDW trip of the year and starting to work on videos of it now.  First one (the actual trip there and arrival) should be posted up tomorrow.  Then over the next 3-4 weeks I'll have the rest of the trip getting posted up.  Only about 3000 photos and video clips to sort through.  lol
May we're still hoping for Kentucky and the ark/ creation museum, but the snow and ice keeps adding snow days to my wife's school calendar, so really hoping we're done with that or it may affect that trip.
