General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: New Metal Detectors
« on: May 01, 2022, 08:43:07 PM »
The whole metal detector, security checkpoint, and bag search has really turned me off of SDC.  I suppose it is probably at the point of being necessary as the last several years going over to SDC and Branson, the clientele seems to be changing lately.  I have been seeing things you would never see in years past.

No, you download the app and link your passes there. Your BAF passes will also be there as well.

Swoosh said he rode it and those bumps were still there. I sure didn't feel it, but not sure if I want to ride it again to find out if I somehow missed it.

Any reports on TnT?

It is open and was running two trains on Opening Day.   What type of report are you looking for?

I think they must have done some work in it as that big painful bump in the tunnel appears to be fixed.  The bad spot out of the tunnel also appeared to be fixed as well.  Seemed like there were a couple of other spots that were rough but I did not think it was nearly as bad as it was the last several years.

All of the sounds and effects seemed to be working normally to me when I was there this week.

PS it appears to me thru have oversold the trailblazers this year. In fact that was the reason they ran out of them today, they appears to be selling them onsite.

Finally bracelets showed up at midtown, then they ran out of the season pass lanyards. They said go back to cave desk to get them, having to wait yet again. While walking back up I spotted Brad and got him involved. He took us to some office in the back behind the cave desk, hooked is up with someone there who gave us the daily super pass for today as they were completely out of the season pass ones.

Lines for everything were unbelievable. Even the TB lines were crazy. FITH was lined up all the way past the saloon. PK was all the way down the hill. It was nuts.

It’s after 10 am and still waiting in line to pickup my season TB pass. Took forever to even get in the gate. So far this seems like Christmas crowd levels. I realize it’s spring break but I have been here many times on opening day and it has not been this bad. If this is the new norm this will for sure be my last year for buying passes.

Mass confusion today. At the cave they said you can go down to the midtown guest services to pick them up. Waited in line 45 minutes only to discover they did not have the bracelets, you get the lanyard there but have to go back to cave to get bracelet

As I mentioned before, there have been 4-5 times Bell's has announced they are back and something is in the works, but it always falls thru.

You know, there are already tons of people in that area by FITH, it would seem like putting the train station there would make matters much worse.  You would have the tons of people that would be there already combined with the tons of people that would normally be over by the train station area.

As far as closing parks when there might be a chance of weather, what you would end up with then is not only massive lost revenue, but lots of people PO'd because they closed the park.  It is a no win situation and you can't protect everyone from every possible thing that might happen.  If folks are at a park and weather approaches, they need to take a certain amount of personal responsibility, but, we know that will probably never happen. I will say if I was there and depending where I was in the park, I would not be rushing to the exit, I would get out of the way like someone else said and maybe hunker down in that tunnel going to TNT.

Branson Talk / Re: Branson Motels

We have not been to Branson this year, but usually we stay at one of the Angel Inns, usually the pink one.  We did stay at the one on SOTH but last time there was some sort of issue of which I do not recall, and requested to cancel the room and we would move somewhere else and they refused to cancel and refund.  We ended up paying for this room as well as where we moved.  Otherwise Honeysuckle is great.  If you want to spend more money the 2 Hampton Inns are good as is either of the Hiltons.
