The mill and mine restaurants for example appeared way across the park on the map from what I could tell.

I see what you mean.  The map has to be screwed up.  It is strange seeing a big blank area where LR used to be.

Well,  Wednesday is the day I was talking about (opening day).  I see there is 100% chance of rain that day so I suspect the park could be dead.

I have to go to western Arkansas Thursday but am thinking about leaving a day early and stopping by the city for a little bit Wednesday.  I will be pulling a car trailer.  I have season preferred parking.  Is there a parking area for trailers or is this an added charge?

I had originally planned on going opening day, but not sure I will be able to.  It is next Wednesday, correct?  I have to go to far western Arkansas for work Thursday, but may drive up early and be there Wednesday then travel to Arkansas Thursday.

Glad to hear Stampede has become a bit more historically correct. It was so weird last time I went watching them present a fantasy version of Native Americans and not once mentioning what our ancestors did to them. This new version sounds like a good step in the right direction.

No they never really mentioned anything about what may or may not have happened to the natives.  They just had a part of the show with them in there, then the next part was settlers so it was sort of draw your own conclusion.  I do not remember anything about Native Americans in the show before they changed the name but maybe I just forgot.

There was an $8 off coupon in the season pass packet but it has to be used at the Stampede between February 22 and sometime in May. The coupon was good for up to 4 people.

Dang it, I guess I missed that.  Oh well.  Show was good, food was good.  First time being there since they changed it to be politically correct.  Appears to me they just removed the plantation background and reference to the old south and replaced with indians being driven out by white man.  That was my perception anyway.

On another note, it looked like there were still some duck boats sitting down at ride the ducks but it looked like half or more of them that used to sit there were gone.

Yea we got our huge $5 discount.  We have been a couple of times before but not since they changed the name.  It is too expensive.  Actually, I guess after you factor in dinner and a show, its probably not that bad.  And yes, the food is good.

We are headed up tomorrow and are going to the Stampede.  While watching the news for the last week or so about every other commercial is theirs so I finally gave in.  In fact, 2 commercials just played on the TV in the time it took me to post this.  They must be spending a fortune in advertising.

Speaking of hotels with indoor water parks, I forgot about Castle Rock and Welk.  How do their water parks compare to Grand Country?  I have never been to any of them.

I have been thinking about booking a room at the Grand Country so we can take the kid to their indoor water park.  Is it work the $130 they want?  Other than that, might get a cheap room with KD or somewhere else.  Aside from those shows, what other indoor things are there to do?  What about that Fritz deal?  Just wanting a cheap trip.

Have you talked to Liberty Lodge that is right across the street?  We stayed there once last year and in talking to the owner I recall I think they bought it recently at that time and the guy was a veteran.  It seemed to be clean and a decent place.  Anyway, that is all I know just thought I would pass it along.

I was only in town for less than an hour, long enough to pull into Grand Country and eat my lunch alone then cruise up and down the strip.  It was interesting to see what restaurants were open and which were closed.  One thing that surprised me was there appeared to be quite a few cars at the Titanic.  Lot was not packed but certainly more than I expected.  By contrast there were no cars at the wax museum.  Not even sure if it was open or not.  While I was in the GC, I heard one of the workers talking to somebody saying that they had shows going in there all year long while other shows are shut down this time of the year.  I thought about driving out to the City and cruising thru but figured all I would see was an empty parking lot, so I didn't.  I put in quite a few miles yesterday driving from Nowata, OK up to Springfield, down to Harrison with the quick stop in Branson, then back up to Springfield, then to Bixby OK (south of Tulsa) then back to Nowata (1 hour north of Tulsa)  560 miles total.

I was in the area today for work so I decided to take a little detour and cruise the strip.  It was a ghost town, but even at that, still got stuck behind somebody going about 20mpg.  I dont know why people suddenly forget how to drive once they get out there.  I ate lunch at the Grand Country and there were about 2 other people in there with me.
