General Silver Dollar City Talk / Fire In the Hole/Flooded Mine
« on: May 16, 2018, 08:53:48 PM »
Fire in the hole needs some work.  I noticed at the start of the year that some of the lights inside were replaced with blue lights, I assume LED lights.  For example the baldknobber setting the bridge on fire was always holding a red light, which makes sense, as its supposed to be fire.  He now has a blue light, which looks stupid.  Today riding it NONE of the music or sound effects appeared to be working.  The only one was the part about putting on the pants.  The bridge collapse noise was gone, the laughing sound was gone, no train whistle.

This year for sure, and I think part of last year I have noticed the saw blade no longer moves in FM.  On the part where the guy sets off the TNT which blows water up and the flood of water comes down no longer works like it used to.  The flood of water comes in, but we dont see the big explosion of water first anymore.  Outside as you come back in, they don't have the cannon exploding in the water anymore.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / $1 mugs
« on: March 27, 2018, 10:03:52 PM »
I have a couple of the $1 refill mugs that are Buzz Saw Falls and say $1 refill on it.  I have also seen other grandfathered mugs that are the same size and style but do not say $1 on them such as a Christmas one.  Are these $1  refill also or do they only do that for the ones that specifically say $1?  Anybody know?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / SDC V Dollywood
« on: March 20, 2018, 09:37:30 PM »
I have thought about some day heading out to Dollywood and was looking at their website and it appears to me they have more, larger rides than SDC.  Anybody BTDT?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Season passes
« on: December 04, 2017, 06:42:09 PM »
I'm fixing to order season passes and thinking about doing the 2 park pass.  I usually only do SDC.  Is White Water worth adding?  I am not a big water park person but the wife and kid likes it.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Old Time Christmas
« on: October 23, 2017, 10:15:57 AM »
I was thinking about going to the city this coming weekend but then got to thinking about OTC opening soon and might wait a week for that.  We usually go a couple of times while it is going on and it is usually a mad house. When it the least busy time to go?  Is opening weekend of it usually packed, or no?  I figure the close to Christmas you get, the busier it gets.

Branson Talk / Yakov theater
« on: October 19, 2017, 11:31:36 AM »
So what is going on with the Yakov theater?  We were in Branson a couple of weeks ago and I believe the acrobats were performing there, but it appears they are now in the old RFD location.  If that is the case, is Yakov sitting empty?  Just curious.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Rain in Branson tomorrow
« on: August 05, 2017, 10:27:46 AM »
I was thinking about making a quick trip to the city tomorrow and the weather is saying 100% chance of rain.  I bet that keeps a lot of people away tomorrow.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Tram nightmare
« on: July 16, 2017, 04:26:21 PM »
I am not one to complain as I love the city but we just left a few minutes ago. We were at stop 5 today and when we got out to the trams there was maybe 5 people in line. After waiting in the hot blazing sun for 53 minutes, a bus finally arrived. Needless to say by this time there were at least 200 people in line, with probably half very upset. I have never seen them drop the ball this bad. The bad part is there was a tram sitting off to the side with a crew in it just sitting and talking. They must have been on break or something. We are planning on going back in a little bit for moonlight madness, and will be back tomorrow as well. I also got some pics of the new coaster I will try and post in the construction thread.

So we went to the City today and are currently at the Classic Motor Inn.  Anyway, today while riding the FM, I was getting sat down in the boat and as I was leaning over to sit, off flies by eye glasses off into the channel to be washed down stream.  So I guess they are there until they drain the water and find them.  I have been needing to get a new pair all year anyway.  On another note, the new building is starting to take shape.  Just looking at the siding on the topper, it makes me think of a wild mountain theme more than a time travel theme, but I guess we shall see.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Rare opportunity at the FM
« on: April 23, 2017, 06:20:17 PM »
So I was looking at the weather for this weekend and it appeared it would be rainy, cold, and miserable at SDC for Saturday so we decided to take a spur of the moment trip up there.  Arrived right at opening time and as we were pulling into the parking lot we see nearly a dozen huge tour buses, school buses etc in the bus parking lot.  Crap, it appears a ton of schools are doing year end trips. I was figuring it would be dead Saturday.  Load on the tram, pull up to the front and there were 2 more huge tour buses unloading a herd of kids.  We get inside and see lots of groups of kids with matching shirts.  We noticed a group from on particular expensive private school in Tulsa that all of their kids, and there were a bunch, all had trail blazer passes.  I am thinking this is going to be a nightmare.  We rode a few rides but decided this trip would be more about the shows, so we were able to get into the Saloon show, the harp show, the balance show, and the flamenco show.  All were great especially the harp and flamenco.  Despite all the bus loads of kids, the park was pretty empty.  In fact after the initial arrival we did not run into that many kids.  I think we did our rides early before they all got down the hill, then we hit the shows which kids typically do not do.

Ok so anyway, down to the point of this post.  We were getting ready to leave and decided to hit the FM.  We ended up getting a couple of rides thru totally alone, so we just sat back and enjoyed the scenery without all the guns shooting. I mean totally alone, the set of boats in front of us was empty too.  It was nice and not something I have been able to do for year.

We went back today because the wife wanted to see the flamengo show again.  There were a few more buses of kids, but by the time we left about 12:30 it was packed.  We were going to eat lunch at the park and stay a little longer but the lines for the food places were more than I wanted to deal with.  I am afraid it is going to be packed even on days when normally it would be slow.  Going on rainy cold days seems to be the best!

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Season parking pass
« on: January 03, 2017, 06:04:51 PM »
I just remembered I have not bought my season passes for 17 yet.  In doing so it says they have already sold out of season parking passes.  WOW, I don't think I have seen that before but then again I usually buy mine in December. I have not parked in the general parking in a while although that is where we used to always park.  This sort of sucks!  Maybe I should skip 17 and wait until 18 when they have the new ride open maybe.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Refill mugs
« on: June 27, 2016, 08:34:30 PM »
Just to confirm they do still refill the grandfathered mugs before 2012 right?  Is it the current refill price or the price listed on the mug?  I just scored a Buzzsaw mug with $1 refill.  I am looking for a couple of other ones.  We have bought new mugs the last 3 years and just bought new ones this year as well.  I had been meaning to find old mugs to avoid having to buy new ones all the time.
