^This. I know people complain the most about that one rough spot just before you exit the tunnel.  Wheel work might help too but IME the ride runs great minus that one spot.

Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC's 2020 Project(s) and Park Developments
« on: August 09, 2018, 05:14:48 AM »
So to revive this thread a bit since this is the next plausible year for the next big addition to the park, and seeing the success with the large investment made on Time Traveler, do you think SDC will get another major coaster or a themed area? What and why?

Personal preference I am still hoping for is something new from B&M, or GCI, or even another Mack of some variety just to make the rest of the U.S. theme parks jealous that SDC gets two Mack coasters back to back within a decade. It really makes me wonder as it seems like Brad and crew have developed a good working relationship with the guys at Mack Rides which could build on the success of Time Traveler.

Not at all against the idea, its a question of "when" as its still a mystery as I do not see it happening within the next 5 years. I also see SDC ripping out FM and AP before thinking about LR.

I was expecting a mack  coaster but it was obvious months ago this was a vekoma family suspended. They arw great for families too. We now know that Herchend is open to vekoma rides going forward. It also seems like the days of two big rides per company is over.

I read over on TPR and another site that this is only Phase 1 of a larger expansion and that they have only used 1/3 of the land for this new area, so the latter part of your statement could be premature as the rest could be used for a large coaster installation in the following years, perhaps a Mack hyper and/or launch coaster sometime around 2021? (could also make up for the LR debacle installing the latter)

Well I think it's been common knowledge that the next major addition to SDC is coming in 2020.  The real question is what and where.  Whatever SDC does, I am sure they want to continue to make a splash in the industry as they are becoming known as a destination park.

Well with that being said, SDC has been officially ranked as the 4th best U.S. theme park. We could now be seeing a lot of additional investment over the next few years on the same scope that we have been currently seeing at Dollywood over the past decade. (who was ranked in at #6, surprisingly enough)

Here is the story on the sunken DUKW which was raised today. I agree the first thing which was very apparent and damning was the fact that nearly all the life jackets were intact and still mounted to the rack of the vessel. http://www.ky3.com/content/news/PICTURES-Sunken-duck-boat-raised-from-Missouri-lake-488897941.html

The lake depth here was also stated to have been 80+ feet.

Search and rescue called off and switching to recovery mode according to reports. This is really bad. As of this writing only 18 people have been recovered with 11 being dead. Over 30 people were reported on board.

Despite the tragic outcome for the boat in question, I'm actually impressed these boats held up as well as they did. The other boat did manage to make it back safely. However, it appears that was because it was not fully loaded unlike the one that sank. If you see the videos this looks like something you would see from a storm out at sea, its crazy to see Table Rock look like that with them out there.

The final death blow to the vessel is around 4:10, they also reported live on KY3 that they had wind gusts equal to a Cat3 Hurricane! http://www.ky3.com/content/news/CAUGHT-ON-CAMERA-Viewer-captures-Ride-the-Ducks--488687431.html

On another note, I could see how this could very well mark the end for Branson's Ride The Ducks Tours. The chain as a whole has unfortunately already suffered from a lot of bad publicity from other incidents across the nation.

A Mack multi-launch/hyper that combines Helix and DC Rivals would be a stellar addition to their park.

Yeah noticed that too and I am on the Android version, I miss the old app, it was much better refined in terms of functionality for that. I feel like this one is a bit of a downgrade.

Without getting too deep into a political debate as I am pretty liberal yet pro 2nd amendment, I really hate the direction this is heading with the gun/robbery issue. I really think it would be a misstep for the park to get rid of the guns and the robbery, as it is part of what makes SDC... well SDC. The 1880s was not all roses and rainbows and while I get the park is trying to maintain a Christian/Family friendly atmosphere I feel some historical authenticity (even as lighthearted as it has been with the corny jokes) should be maintained. It is what sets SDC apart from other parks with 1880's or wild west themes.

Anyone get any additional pictures or videos of the new Train engine operating? I've still been meaning to head up there to check it out sometime soon.

Yeah I too wished they could clean up and fix the outdoor part. Along with that area giving the "sewer pond" impression I have noticed for quite some time that the audio where they yell "Fire!" and the blast sound fx from the little gunboat has seldom worked along with the water jet simulating a shot hitting the water.
