SDC Memories/ Park History / Re: Pictures from the Past!
« on: September 08, 2018, 02:25:56 AM »
I couldn't care if it were weeds and Virginia creeper, seems like when wildfire was added it was decided stripped hillsides were acceptable.  Our latest example being TT valley that is an abomination to the natural beauty of the Ozarks.  I miss the green lushness of the old mill wheel pic, its a place I desire to explore, unlike the bald ground.   I hope they do something with that valley and lay off the weed eating.  I will tell you if we threw a few packs of Morning glorys off that bridge the valley would be in bloom for years to come.  Once morning glorys take hold you can't get them gone!

Yeah I was hoping when they did all that clearing for TT that it was gonna be for some extensive theming elements and landscaping along with the track. Instead all we got was a few leftover trees and retaining walls. Which if I were to poke a negative on TT it would be that it feels a bit like a parking lot coaster due to to that. WF is kinda in the same category though it looks better now that stuff finally rooted itself and grew up in that rocky clay dirt surrounding it but it took a decade to do so on its own.

Other Parks / Carowinds "Copperhead Strike" 2019 Mack Double Launch Coaster
« on: September 02, 2018, 06:38:48 PM »
Carowinds recently announced Copperhead Strike the other day. A Mack Rides double launch coaster. Time Traveler will have some competition next year as one of the new major Mack launch coasters to come to the U.S.

Have to say, I like the layout and the themed enclosure elements on the ride. The theming style of the ride could have fit well at SDC and Dollywood. That launched airtime hill looks fun too. lol

Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC's 2019 Project(s) and Park Developments

Dollywoods LumiNights is coming I bet. Some might balk at this (as discussed in another thread which I will add the link to below) but the bright side to this is I wouldn't be opposed to more opportunities to be at SDC at night.

I am not a uber religious type of person but the term "Blessing in Disguise" might be valid here considering the controversy of the situation and the owners history and affiliations. If this got off the ground it could have forever tainted the image and history of Dogpatch if there was indeed a scandal or dirty money put behind it and it became a big controversial issue with people.

EDIT: Too late, its already been happening, stuff like this is all over their Facebook page. Also looks like comments in other posts are being deleted too as some conversation replies seem fragmented.

Maybe they will get Antique Cars. LOL if you have seen a certian parks announcement on social media and the TPR forums recently, you will get the joke.

That would make me lol so hard. If it got converted to floorless in the process it would actually be an awesome addition though.

I'm keeping my expectations low. This is the chain that made a big deal about the worlds tallest super loop. Good thing FC already has one.

Getting the states first B&M and the most significant addition since Silver Bullet would definitely garner a lot of local attention to say the least. Id have to look it up but isn't it bigger than SDC's Wildfire?

Um. :o No.
Iron Wolf was the first B&M coaster built exclusively by B&M.  While it would probably be a major addition to FC it is far from a good ride.

LOL yeah finally looked them up to compare, granted I never rode it but maybe it could be an improvement if it were converted to a sit down or floorless like Shave suggested? For anyone else wondering, here are the specs: https://rcdb.com/6.htm and as it is currently: https://rcdb.com/10136.htm

Fire In The Hole ride-thru video circa 2011

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9g-wRxPZImw

From this clip alone it sadly shows how this ride (like Flooded Mine) in recent times has been reduced to a shadow of its former self. Scenes removed or not functioning most of the time. Particularly the gunfire and the train at the end. (while the Train segment is still there, my last couple visits it either had no audio or no light functioning)

I haven't heard the whole story on that issue... thats quite unfortunate. I just thought it was just a simple case of the city council being bullies to the man because like most politicians, money and special interests talk more than anything and anyone who gets in the way of that gets elliminated.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: TNT

Did it really get that rough?  It rode smooth back in March.

It's not as rough as then two mine trains at SFoT and SFSL I rode this year.  100x smother than then the Boss at SFSL (I hated that ride).  Probably better than Timberwolf and Prowler at WoF.  Even with the Boss and TW retracking.

Is this a case of SDC fans being spoiled by a park full of smooth coasters?

It is concerning if true with all the construction that happened near the lot.  I hope it wasn't damaged as the ground has settled.

I have to agree here. As I mentioned the only real rough patch that I brace for is right before you exit the tunnel and its been there since at least late 2016. Maybe its a particular train regarding the other issues? I know they have been using the Yellow/Green one a lot this year.

Other Parks / Kolmarden's "Wildfire" Coaster Signage & Logo
« on: August 13, 2018, 04:49:53 AM »
Seeing this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YU_j-HGJ8cc

Go to 1:15. Many of you might find this amusing. (I did)
Looks like a lot of Silver Dollar City being ripped off here, right?
1.) The buzzsaw blade in the log references the former water coaster "Buzzsaw Falls" signage
2.) "Wildfire" naturally is the name of SDC's B&M coaster
3.) The logo itself pretty much copies SDC's park logo silhouette as a whole

On a more serious note, is that even legal? Or is it "different" enough to not be a trademark infringement? I'd be curious to know what the Hershends would think of this "hybrid-imitation". Either way, there sure is a lot of influence here to not be a coincidence I think.

Other than that the coaster itself looks like a great looking layout with the lesser used RMC topper track design.

I don't really want to raise any hopes here, but there was a little tidbit from Robby at the end of this recent article remembering Zingo: https://www.tulsaworld.com/scene/features/zingo-turns-beloved-tulsa-roller-coaster-is-gone-not-forgotten/article_ae20c4f6-ab5c-5b59-bc30-bfb5a9cbe7de.html

So they apparently have new plans... But probably still no money or any real assets. The family name is worth something at least. It would be incredibly exciting to have something even as simple as the Branson Fun Park in Tulsa. We're starved for amusements in this state.

This really makes me wish the Hershends would enter into some kind of partnership (if Robbie agreed on moving operations) and just let him move the park up to the old CC site in Branson and lease out the land or profit share or something. That way at least his assets wont be rotting away as shown in the photo above and it would also put the remaining CC structures back into use. I would love to see Zingo in the spot Ozcat used to occupy. Bells Branson has a nice ring to it. It just seems like Tulsa just doesn't want him anywhere. The Hershends can kinda relate as SDC is currently sitting on land with a still active 99 year lease. Who knows what might happen afterward.

Again I know its wishful thinking and I know it will probably never happen.

While FC will never actually compete with SFOT, if they added a new thrill coaster to FC it might be less enticing for some people to drive to Dallas. I think the only thing that would really drive development at FC at this point is competition. If someone else starts a new park in the OKC metro or even Tulsa... then SF would have to respond. Don't think that's going to happen within the next decade though...

Its my personal opinion but I really think the loss of Bells really killed the growth and expansion potential for FC. I would agree not to expect too much except maybe flat ride clones/replacements like what SF has been doing at their various parks already.
