Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC's 2019 Project(s) and Park Developments

I have to say I'm kinda surprised if this is legit happening now. I had thought FM AP or even FITH would be higher on the list to receive attention by the park.

Grinches, everyone.  :D

The parade is a tight fit, but it's very fun and inventive for a park like SDC. I wish they could expand the pinchpoints just a little, and am still scratching my head over the new area that actually added a big pinch point, but oh well.

"pinchpoint"???
LOL.  So thats what you call it..
YES!!  Stay away from the that new area.....
The "pinchpoint" will be quite obvious..!!    ::)

If this is referring to the planter area in front of the Time Traders shop, I bet they will find out the hard way and either reduce its size or remove it completely in the off season.

Heh I was right on about the Pumpkin Festival and it's presumed location. It will be a good fit for GE.

Did I hear somewhere that RMC retracked Blazing Fury for Dollywood a few years ago? What if they did the same for FITH?

Though SDC has been known for doing back to back developments and announcements. 2005 was Powderkeg 2006 was Grand Expo and 2007 was the Barn Swing.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Outlaw Run restraint changes
« on: October 10, 2018, 03:12:47 AM »
I know if this was TPR or another enthusiast forum I'd get a lot of flack for this but it's the main reason why I am not super fond of RMC. Their coaster trains and restraints are the most restrictive, painful, and uncomfortable ones I've rode in for a coaster. I wished they could be redesigned like how B&M recently did with their old OTSR systems.

EDIT: Granted I know they have been revised before, particularly the shin bars but I still feel the trains/restraints need further revision. Just my opinion tho.

Well I don't know about caves but I can sure say that parts of the TNT track sure have shifted or sunk a little since they started on TT.

Hence why I am thinking any future coaster expansions need to be out by the WB/Employee parking lot and out past WF/PK along the railway. A non inverting GCI Woodie or a Mystery Mine/Fire Chaser type coaster would be great for the former area and an out and back hyper would be a great fit using the terrain on the latter.

Construction/Rumors / Re: Future SDC Development Speculation (Long-term)

Revisiting my post above and to combine some thoughts I posted from the 2020 thread:

IF SDC were to invest in a Mack or B&M Hyper/Giga terrain coaster on their next big project, this coaster is a good example on how they could thoughtfully lay it out using the trees and terrain they have past WF/PK along the railway and/or towards the parking lot.

After finally getting out east to experience Fury 325 a couple months ago at Carowinds I would love to see SDC get one at some point.

Construction/Rumors / Re: Great Pumpkin LumiNights at SDC?
« on: September 29, 2018, 09:14:29 PM »
As mentioned by Shave in the OP, Dollywood has compartmentalized the two festivals throughout the park, and as discussed before in this thread I think it will be most logical for them to maintain and preserve the old SDC crafts festival by the square/midtown area down towards the lumbercamp while the back portions of the park (namely FL, GE, and the Lake Silver area up to Outlaw Run) will host the new event.

With all the rumors of the fall festival about to undergo a big change at SDC after this season, this statement on another forum seems to further support the potential of SDC following suit with Dollywood's LumiNights festival.

Quote
The Harvest Festival and pretty much all of October was probably the busiest time for Dollywood last season. I would say more popular than Christmas and more popular than most summer weekend's.

During the day, while school is in session, it's mostly older folks look for fall colors and listening to gospel music but when school lets out it gets very crowded, or did last year. It also depends on the weather but October is usually fairly mild, again, making it a very popular time.

I visited several weekends and weekdays (evenings) last year in October and ride times backed up. During the day, not so much.. most stuff was a walk on. That's what makes Dollywood unique! You will see the park transform from older folks enjoying shows and leaves to a very young crowd enjoying night rides on coasters and luminights.

I'd stay away on weekends or days when school is out!! It was so crowded last year, they added on to the pathways mainly for luminights and gospel festival, so mainly for this month!

Also, for folks visiting over the next few weeks, keep in mind that area schools are out for fall break.. its a staggered break so not all counties are out at once but weekdays might be a little busy for the next week or two. Good time to visit the park though!!

Just like what was done with Moonlight Madness HFEC sees whats hot and draws crowds right now for their parks. I can almost guarantee they will be doing this (or something similar) at SDC in the near future.

I couldn't care if it were weeds and Virginia creeper, seems like when wildfire was added it was decided stripped hillsides were acceptable.  Our latest example being TT valley that is an abomination to the natural beauty of the Ozarks.  I miss the green lushness of the old mill wheel pic, its a place I desire to explore, unlike the bald ground.   I hope they do something with that valley and lay off the weed eating.  I will tell you if we threw a few packs of Morning glorys off that bridge the valley would be in bloom for years to come.  Once morning glorys take hold you can't get them gone!

Yeah I was hoping when they did all that clearing for TT that it was gonna be for some extensive theming elements and landscaping along with the track. Instead all we got was a few leftover trees and retaining walls. Which if I were to poke a negative on TT it would be that it feels a bit like a parking lot coaster due to to that. WF is kinda in the same category though it looks better now that stuff finally rooted itself and grew up in that rocky clay dirt surrounding it but it took a decade to do so on its own.
