General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2019 Daily Attendance

Hence why I never go on a nice day on a Saturday. lol That's incredible to get Christmas numbers for the fall festival. This likely means Pumpkin Nights is here to stay and will also likely be expanded.

Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC's 2020 Project (Thread #2)

Looking good! Thanks for the update. I myself plan to do a construction update video later this month.
Liking the amount of landscaping work they are putting into this. The site should look fantastic and well shaded once everything grows in about 5-10 years.

Other Parks / Six Flags in a bid to merge with Cedar Fair
« on: October 02, 2019, 10:57:07 PM »
A story is being reported that Six Flags Entertainment Corp. has approached Cedar Fair LP. with a merger offer, pursuing a combination that would unite two of the largest U.S. amusement park operators. The move shows how Six Flags, already the world’s largest regional theme park operator, wants to expand its footprint so it can increase ticketing pricing power, even as Chief Executive James Reid-Anderson is preparing to retire by the end of February.

While SDC and related properties obviously won't be affected, this to me sounds like terrible news for the general consumer and for theme park enthusiasts. For selfish reasons I'd rather have Hershend buy all or part of Cedar Fair's assets.

I thought I would mention that SDC's Reuben's Swashbuckling Adventure Won at the Golden Ticket Awards for Best New Show.

I know quite a few on this board were not big fans of the show but its probably not going anywhere anytime soon if you missed it.

Thanks for sharing the pics. Any idea if the project budget includes plans to spruce up the perimeter of Lake Silver prior to the opening of MRF? It definitely looks neglected (to be expected given the significance of the adjacent construction). It would be great to see them add a nice sized fountain in the center once everything is completed and the lake is filled once again.

As far overbudget / behind schedule as it is, I’d be pleasantly surprised if they do too much.

Thanks for the update. I was gonna say at a glance it did seem like not too much was done to the MRF site overall since my visit and tour a month ago. Interesting that they are indeed behind schedule. Wonder what happened there. I am assuming it was due to all the rain we had this year?

This park doesn’t need a B&M sized coaster, it doesn’t have enough draw for that size of capacity.  Now a clone of Iron Shark like what Darien Lake did would be an excellent fit

True. I was just thinking like something along the size of one of the smaller standup B&M's like Vortex or the former Apocalypse coaster that was converted to a sitdown floorless. I doubt they would invest in anything extravagant.

Even a cloned or relocated B&M would do wonders for this park. Question is will it come at the expense of Silver Bullet.

Random Talk / Teen dies after visiting Oceans of Fun
« on: September 02, 2019, 02:58:03 PM »
A 15 year old boy died after an incident at Oceans of Fun that sent him to the hospital back on the 24th. Sad news to hear considering the Schlitterbahn incident is still likely lingering in peoples minds as well. Granted this appears to have been a situation beyond anyone's control and not an OSHA safety violation or negligence of the park staff. I did notice a few emergency vehicles coming from the vicinity of the water park as I was in the dry side of the park that evening. This was why.

What are we thinking the crowds are gonna be like this weekend, numbers wise? Just saw SDC announced extended hours thru the weekend. https://www.facebook.com/events/918404168497598/

I might go. Was thinking Fri/Sat is an obvious no as naturally that would be their busiest days/nights. So I was thinking Sun/Mon maybe? Though I'm aware last Saturday was pretty nice with a manageable crowd but that could have been due to the threat of rain keeping crowds away.
