Branson Talk / Toby Reunion
« on: March 24, 2011, 01:34:44 PM »

According to the article linked below from Hometown Radio, there is going to be a Toby Show reunion in Branson the last weekend of July.  I know the Toby Show has been discussed here on the board several times.

Branson Talk / Re: Trolleys gone from the Landing
« on: March 20, 2011, 02:45:02 PM »
Are they charging to park at Branson Landing now as well?

There's always been a charge to park in the garage.  The lots at each end of the Landing are still free.

The downtown trolleys are still there because they are operated by the downtown merchants association -- different group than the Landing.

Supposedly there are more electric carts to rent for those who have mobility problems.

Branson Talk / Trolleys gone from the Landing
« on: March 19, 2011, 04:53:54 PM »
It was in the recent Branson Tri-Lakes News that the trolleys are gone from the Landing.  The lease on the trolleys expired and Landing management decided not to renew the lease.  Management is looking for a more environmentally friendly way to transport people who do not wish to walk up and down the Landing.  However, there is now a trackless train that you can ride for $5 a person.  :o

I'm like Stacey Sue; the times I've ridden TNT backwards, I felt crummy the rest of the day.  Love to ride it facing forward!

SDC Memories/ Park History / Re: Is Wikipedia wrong about this?

Rhonda Vincent and the Rage will be performing this year during Bluegrass and BBQ May 16 -- 18.  In 2010 the Ozark Mountain Daredevils played in Echo Hollow at night during the 50th anniversary weeked. In the past couple of years the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has played there as well as Asleep at the Wheel.

The service times vary a bit depending on what time the park opens.  There is generally a service that starts before the park officially opens (sometimes the sound of the singing of the National Anthem on the Square can be a bit distracting during the service), and there is usually a service after the park opens.

Last season for Noah; next year will have a different show.  The Sight and Sound Theater in PA (the original) also rotates shows.

This is the first time in several years that I haven't received the current email survey.  Hmmm....

Coke product vs. Pepsi products doesn't matter much to me.  I usually drink frozen lemonade or the free water.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: So...where do you go first?!
« on: February 21, 2011, 11:11:29 AM »
We go to Sullivan's Mill first to get a loaf of cinnamon bread to share while we look over the show schedule.  Then if the first show we want to see is in the Opera House, we head over to that area of the park to ride FITH and hubby might ride Powderkeg or Wildfire before we get in line for the show.
If the first show we want to see is at the Boatworks, we'll go ride TNT and/or Flooded Mine.

Construction/Rumors / Re: Celebration City Developments
« on: February 14, 2011, 09:38:34 PM »
Here's hoping they don't fall behind the curve.  There are a number of abandoned and idle developments in and around Branson.  Anyone know of what happened to the Rodeo Arena attraction that was planned across from Branson Meadows...or how about the excavation across from the original Walmart?  We are know hearing that the most possible future for the Grand Palace is the wrecking ball.  Not to mention Indian Point.

I emailed the rodeo arena attraction people back in 2009 -- economy did them in.  The Tanstone development next to Tanger had lots of  excavation -- all the money spent on site prep and the economy caved in.  The Grand Palace is for sale for $10 million and there are several lawsuits in regards to that situation.  Same for Indian Ridge -- lots of lawsuits.  Bristol Falls never developed on Indian Point and many lawsuits with that.  The waterpark/big time resort never happened in Hollister either but lots of excavation took place.  Stonebridge Village, Branson Creek, and Emory Creek have hit bumps in the road, too.  Heard today that Club 57 at Dick Clark's had closed.  The economy has been tough on the tourism industry.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Bluegrass & BBQ

Each year we end up buying several bottles of BBQ sauce to take home that aren't available where we live.
Some years there are several booths in Red Gold Heritage Hall that have a variety of BBQ representing different styles of BBQ around the country. The music is always great.

99.9% of the reviews on the 1branson.com board are extremely positive for Branson's Best motel and its sister motels which include Savannah House and a couple of others.
