Branson Talk / Re: 2011 Branson Shows: Which ones do you like/dislike?

Buck Trent was a good show when he played the old Hee Haw Theater back in 81-83. During that period I was the concessions manager at Hee Haw.  I'm sure he's got be as good as ever. Plus the wife of our old Hee Haw fiddler (wayne massengale)  is Buck's fiddler. Her name is Melody. Wayne works at Country Tonite as a fiddler.

Country Tonite is no more; it closed after last season.  Wayne plays in the band for the shows at Grand Country Music Hall.

What is a BAF.  We go Branson every 2 years for family reunion for the last 3 reunions.  We are thinging about a season pass vs daily ticket so we would have to worry about schedules.  Wish they were trasferable to my uncle when we leave.  I am trying to squeeze as much value as possible out our vacation.

A BAF is a bring a friend ticket.  Season passholders who purchase passes before the season begins receive bring a friend tickets.  Some BAFs allow free admission.  Some BAFs are for $10 admission.  The BAFs a season passholder receives is based on how early the passes are bought.  Generally the free BAFs are given when people buy season passes by December 31.  For example, the people who bought 2011 season passes purchased the passes by 12/31/10 in order to get the BAF free admissions.  If they bought season passes in January - March, they received the $10 BAFs.

You can still buy season passes now but you will not get BAFs with the pass.  Season passes are not transferrable.

In regards to Noah, the $35 price to celebrate the 35 years of Sight and Sound theaters is good through June.

We didn't take pictures on this trip -- just didn't want to carry the camera and leave it in a cubbyhole while we were on the rides.

To be fair I was told by someone on the 1branson.com board that the Irish show improved later on when an Irish tenor came out and sang.

Went back this morning for more World Fest.  Saw the Russian Academic Band at the Gazebo -- good musical group who plays jazz and American music (Route 66).  They have been at WF for 12 years.  Went to the Trinidad Footprints at the Boatworks -- very entertaining for all ages.  Lots of percussion, a little steel drum, a lot of dancing, some stilts, some fire.  Audience was invited on stage to limbo.  Not only did young kids go up but several teenagers went up and a couple of adults.  Several teenagers in front of us were filiming the show on their cell phones.  Went to the show at the Dockside theater featuring the music and dance of India.  The music is different so the show seems a bit slow at first.  It does pick up and gets very interesting when the dancer comes out.  We skipped the other Dockside show since we've heard Kerry Christiansen, the yodeler on several other occasions.

On Thursday all we rode was FITH, no line at all that day but we saw a line outside of the building most of the time today when we went by.  Today we rode FM, TNT, and the train.  On the train ride you can see several empty Coke coolers lined up out behind one of the buildings.  Half Dollar Holler was packed.  Definitely more people in the park today than Thursday.  Hubby and I wished we'd worn shorts today; if we had we would have rode the wet rides.
It was 91 degrees on our truck thermometer when we left the parking lot at 1:30; it's 88 now.

Souvenir mugs are now 9.99.  Did not see any World Fest mugs.  We saw 50th anniversary mugs and Old Time Christmas mugs available for sale.  Other than the free pork skins, we didn't eat anything in the park.  We did get a couple of frozen lemonade refills.

There were also radio stations with booths set up in front of Cowboy Jepp's on the Square today.

I was at World Fest today, opening day.  Nice crowd but not too crowded.  It's a bit overcast today.

Started the day by riding FITH. Saw the first show at the Opera House, Canadian Powerhouse -- very good -- lots of step/tap dancing and fiddle playing.  Did go see the Saloon show and I commented about that in the Not in Miss Mary's Time thread.  Left the Irish show after 15 minutes -- the same people from previous years with a different name of the show and some different music but the same emcee and patter (that's the jokes, folks).  Also went to Mayorov Russian Circus -- entertaining with lots of juggling, acrobatics, and tumbling; the emcee is the guy who is frequently the singer/narrator of the Nativity show at Christmas.  Will go back tomorrow or Saturday to ride more and see other shows.  Food and drink prices have gone up again.

Went to the saloon show today -- the third show of this season.  Same show as last year but in the middle there is a number in which the cast puts Fabian into an computer chair on casters that you could buy at Walmart, Staples, or Target.  The casts sings to him and spins him around.  Couldn't they at least put him into one of those old wooden chairs on casters that bankers used to use at a desk?

Branson Talk / Re: Tall Pines Campground?
« on: April 07, 2011, 04:53:15 PM »
The Good Sam's Trailer Life Directory rates Tall Pines very high...One of the highest in the area. I've never stayed there as my family stays at the Wilderness. Tall Pines was a Good Sam's park until this year. The tent sites at the Wilderness are not by the road. They are deeper in the campground and look very nice and are very secluded. You might want to check those out (you get a 15% per night discount with a SDC season pass). Anyway, I know you're not asking about the Wilderness. As said earlier, the Trailer Life Directory rates Tall Pines very well. Hope this helps.

I am at Tall Pines right now.  It is still a Good Sam Park, and Kevin still gives a discount to Good Sam members.  Even with the SDC season pass discount it is less to stay at Tall Pines than the Wilderness.  I haven't walked down to the tent area but I did notice a tent set up down there as we drove in yesterday afternoon.

We camp frequently at Tall Pines.  There is a specific tent area that I don't think has utilities but is very close to one of the bath houses.  There are some other sites with utilities that can be used for tents or pop-ups.  All of the tent sites are away from the road; it like camping in the woods.  We called Tall Pines today and the office was staffed.

Branson Talk / Re: Noah Show
« on: March 27, 2011, 03:40:01 PM »
Gonna have to start calling you Senior then huh? I agree totally with the issues faced by the citizens. My wife really wants to see Noah, but I cannot foresee that happening...I mean $100 for us to see a 2 hr show? We are not rolling in the dough, I worked 2 full time jobs as a teacher, and a manager of a ice cream store in order to make ends meet for several years, and it doesn't help that I am frugal, and just can't justify that much $$ for that little entertainment... I'd rather use the $$ for a weeks groceries for the 2 of us, or a 2 night hotel stay, or towards one of our season passes.

Someone posted on the 1branson.com board today that tickets for the Noah show are currently $35 until June 30th -- regular price is $47.
