Thanks!

We have been to Charlie's and like it a lot. Hope to see it open when we get there.
Cantina Laredo is also a favorite.

Where is the Outback Steak and Oyster?

Looks like Black Oak opens today!

We will be in Branson the last weekend of April and are taking a trip without the kids (I hardly know what to do with myself) and since that Saturday is my birthday (one of them that ends in 0) we want to have a nice dinner.

What are some suggestions for a formal, or at least very nice dinner restaurant?  We try to avoid chain restaurants and are looking for a unique, place.

Thanks!

Booking our room for April 28th now.  It will be Anna's first trip to Silver Dollar City!

We'll be there that weekend too...for a trip without the kids for the first time in years!

We rode the carousel and did the tree house in Half Dollar Holler.  To our delight, the slide has been removed.  Our toddler got stuck in it twice last year.  We headed over to the train, but we were told by the train personnel that they were taking a lunch break, so we didn't make it on the train this trip.  Every time we checked out the Flooded Mine, the line was visible, so we skipped it.

How did they re-structure the HDH? Is the net thing the only way down now?

It looks like our first trip to the city is going to be April 7, so this year the first thing to do is look for easter eggs!
We were there for it a couple years ago and the kids still talk about it.

I think it is great. It puts the woodcarvers in a wooded area, near the furniture and lathe. Plus the space can be laid out in a new way.

I don't think it matters what time of year it is, Christmas Hollow always has business.

Plus, the building they are moving the carvers to will always be the toy store. Always.

Cooper-
That is exactly what the lady told us when we bought our passes.  We made sure to be clear since we buy so many passes and we rely on the baf for other family members coming along.
For instance we bought 10 season passes, but all have the same "serial number" and the baf has the same "serial number" so they are not a one to one relationship.

IHeart-We are the same way about water rides, we plan when we will ride them and we are prepared.
I cringe when I see people walking in soaking wet tennis shoes.

I got a new back pack this year and the bottom section if it is a cooler. I think it will hold 3-4 water bottles a couple juice boxes and some snacks with ice packs.
Excited to give it a trial run at the city.

That reminds me, when mine were babies, I used the snack size ziplocs to premeasure formula, then just snipped the corner off to put in the bottle.

And I take extra ziplocs to put dirty clothes in.

I think I use ziplocs for more non-food use than food!

Talking about strollers in another thread made me wonder, what are your tips and tricks for an easy day in SDC?
Also, how old were your kids when you let them explore on their own?

One thing that has worked well for us the last couple years is to pack to "kits", one that stays with the stroller and one that is in the backpack so that if we split up, everyone still has sunscreen, water, sanitizer, etc. instead of waiting until we meet back up.
I also put ice cubes in a ziploc with a wash cloth, then you have a cold rag if it is needed.
I always put a couple towels in the seat of the stroller, it makes messes easier to clean up and makes it nice for after water rides, also if one get dirty or wet, the second one underneath is usually fine.

Same thing I always do. Walk into the Apple Butter Shop. No matter if I arrive at 11:00 or 9:30, it is always the first place we go into. It was the same way when it was located down by The Plunge. We would walk slowly, just take it in and go in for a smell of turnovers (or the remaining scent of what was once turnovers!) and just meander our way through the city. First real thing this time will be figuring out our clearance with the stroller since that is a whole new ballgame for us!

The secret to strollers is preferred parking. 6.00 and a short walk is the way to go!
Especially when I had a double jogging stroller.

I am a bit nervous about this summer because I feel like we shouldn't take a stroller, but at the same time if the youngest falls asleep or is worn down, I dont know if  I can carry him out! That's the pitfalls of being 3.5 and the same size as 5 year olds!

We've been Good Friday that last two years and it has been nice. A good amount of people but not crowded. This year we will be there the Saturday before Easter I hope.
Two years ago we were there for the egg hunt and my daughter still talks about it. Really hoping it works out for them to be there for that.

If the first trip is with the kiddos, we have to measure first. And on the way I will once again wish the measuring station was more central. Anyway the youngest will be very close to TNT height.

If the first trip is without them, I honestly have no idea. I can't remember what we did when adults made all the choices.

Strongly agree about the dislike of GG. We dont even go around that corner, we avoid even seeing it so the kids dont ask about it. It is a lot easier now with HDH.

The activities at FITH were a blast as a kid. I wish that the Far Cheef worked the crowd a bit more.

My sister and I had little made up games we played at all the rides. Of course, it there were less people and less rides then. LR was easy an hour wait, and AP seemed like forever too since there was no shade. When they first put in The Boggan it had quite a wait, but dang it was fun. After the re-do, not so fun.

Anyway, back on topic, we chat, we play games, we entertain ourselves and everyone else, we people watch. Time doesn't seem to pass as slowly for me as the kids so we try to keep them busy.
