I have no emotional connection with AP....I'd love them to repurpose that area and create a new water ride.

Spending other peoples money is always the easiest opinions to give.

It’s really a lateral addition as it is replacing Highland Fling that was removed this season.  This is basically the next Gen version of the enterprise.

As far as disappointment? I knew this was coming for awhile and as the sole new ride at MO parks next year, it’s better than nothing

That last statement is the most disappointing thing I've heard this year:(  Might be a year to use vacation money for Orlando instead.

That looks amazing...and like a lot of fun.  Has to be a new ride of the year contender.

I drove by the site and the hotel back in early June.  We were in Harrison for my son's baseball tourney and had a couple hours to kill.  I didn't realize how close to the highway the park was....I never had been there before and only know about it through the various websites and posts about it.  I would have tried to talk my way down to the park but my wife and kids weren't exactly as excited as I was about trying to do that in the near 100 degree afternoon....lol.  The hotel looked like it had been cleaned up a bit but it was obviously empty.....only a couple cars anywhere near the hotel.  The place just looked sad and a bit creepy.....like banjo music might start at any minute.  The open sign was lit and poster plastered all of the windows with offers.  I ended up not getting out.....and was expecting someone to pop out as soon as i slowed down....lol.  I can't image anyone wanting to stay there....maybe it could be used as a family getaway camp or a reunion place.  Seemed to me it would only be a matter of time till those folks ran out of money.  Charging for tours of the abandoned park might be the only thing that place could make money on.

With the TT post closed....wasn't sure where to put this.

Ran across a youtube clip today of the Mack shop....include some footage of the TT cars being built....might be the track too...

Did it really get that rough?  It rode smooth back in March.

It's not as rough as then two mine trains at SFoT and SFSL I rode this year.  100x smother than then the Boss at SFSL (I hated that ride).  Probably better than Timberwolf and Prowler at WoF.  Even with the Boss and TW retracking.

Is this a case of SDC fans being spoiled by a park full of smooth coasters?

It is concerning if true with all the construction that happened near the lot.  I hope it wasn't damaged as the ground has settled.

That coaster just looks amazing.  Makes you wonder if it would be a top 5 ride if it was built here in the states.  I've virtual rode that one a few times....lol

Between the LR issues at Dollywood and the much less impacting TT issues here at SDC.  Wonder if your see HFE get a bit more conservative with there ride selections in the future?  The new coaster at Dollywood is basically a flat ride/clone with heavy theming.

I expect (or Im hoping) one or all of the FM, AP, LR, and FItH legacy rides to get the next investment dollars.....but nobody seems to know if that means refrubs, replacements, or just closures?

I think a major refrub/rebuild FM or FItH could be as big of a marketing campaign to the local region as a new coaster would be.  It might not get the national attention that TT and OR did.  But everyone in the SDCs market already know those rides and would want to come see them if they are new and approved (at least that's my logic).  Could be a great medium sized inbetween coasters investment back into the park.

As for the BBQ part - I would expect a BBQ contest - at least for one day - bring in a few trucks for a day and have both an official contest and a SDC customer contest - They would have to offer samples from each vendor (either with an overall ticket or individual sales).

I assume they might have a hard time finding trucks to give up a weekend of regular sales though.

Where would they park the trucks?...

IF they had a real contest, and the competitors accepted the invitation, there could be 75-100 trucks/booths.. or  easily more..
Cant put those in the park for 1 day.?
Maybe make a 2 day event out of it?   BUT?  same questions. Where would you park the trucks?

That's why I would say limit it to just a few participants....maybe 4-6.  But your right....I they might not be able to park there trucks in the park.  Most end up smoking all night long.  I assume they wouldn't let them in the park and cook overnight in the park.  Not sure if there is enough room around Red Gold outside for even 4-6 of them.

Not to mention the trucks would be direct competition with SDCs own restaurants for our dollars.

I am not sure what more they could do with the Bluegrass & Barbecue Festival.  They have a lot more than just Ricky Skaggs.  I mean 8 time female vocalist of the year Rhonda Vincent, 7 time vocal group of the year Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, The Gibson Brothers, The Grascals and 60 other acts throughout the festival.  They also have the Youth In Bluegrass which started at the gazebo in 2001 then moved to the Riverfront Playhouse and now is at the Opera House, and has standing room only there now.  I think in 2015 Bluegrass & Barbecue was voted the IBMA event of the year and is always at the top of the list.  D.A. Callaway has been voted promoter of the year by SPBGMA I believe 4 times since 2012.  The barbecue at Red Gold is really good and reasonably priced.   I think it is a fantastic festival and very hard to improve upon.

I wonder if the Ripley's Believe it or Not locations are going to survive?  I haven't heard anyone talk about that.  Could the lawyers go after that whole business?  Sell off there collection of stuff?

But wait... where’s Dollywood?   I thought everyone (Amusement Today) thought it was soooo much better than SDC in everything (especially Christmas events)  ::) ;D

#9 is the "Islands in Pigeon Forge"???? - I wonder if that slot was really for Dollywood.

No explanation of how the list was made....if it is purely from there own reviews or if some editorial opinions where added in.

Seems like a pretty reasonable list besides #9.
