SDC Memories/ Park History / Re: The Coin Press
« on: September 28, 2016, 12:59:19 PM »
I can't add any feedback to where or what happened to the old press....

There are a few modern vending penny press machines around the park.....my wife collects them and we have quite a few from SDC.  Vending machine ones offer at least 4 designs to pick from.  My wife always carries change just for these smashers.  There is one near the cave entrance in the gift shop, the toy shop by FL, and seems like at least one more somewhere I've seen (probably a Rollercoaster gift shop or maybe the train depot?)

They are horrible. Honestly there is no effort being given here.
Also may I say I hate all the new signs they put up in the park these days. It's so obvious it's a computer animated graphic that's supposed to look old timey that it just looks cheap and generic and so obviously digital.
Anyway, this entrance sucks and it is a big deal. These things happen one after another and it's just another park.

Just wait till the wing coaster track is flying over and around that corner and over the gate.....maybe above the gate they can put up the flags from the 6 states that most visitors are from?  :o

My 2 cents....

Thought the old ones where fine....I agree that the finish looks like the 'fancy' siding from Lowes....lol  "No more wood....SDC is making it to the middle class now Ma!!!".....lol

I'm ok with a small budget for new signs....especially if the rides budget is getting bigger  ::)

I'm sure when TnT opened and for its first many years that line was needed especially since it was the only coaster in the park and that was before some of the other bigger ride areas were around(like GE and GG/FL).  I've only seen the line back up completely down the stairs one or twice on the busiest of days.  Of course....I only see it a few times a year.  With two trains running and a average ops crew that ride really seems to keep the line moving.....seems to have almost as much capacity as Wildfire.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Corporation Days

Thanks!  SDC really needs to let the general public know when they have those kind of days scheduled.  It would cause their PR a lot less grief in the long run.

Nope....that will never happen....they are never going to 'advertise' things like that that could cause people not to come.  They don't spend much space or time advertising people about young christians weekend either....they know it keeps aways more people then it adds in.

TNT overflow que is ridiculous.  Please remove it!!!!  Just do a straight shot down into the building.  It already has stairs to climb so it doesn't need the zig zag for the grading or for the que line wait.

My initial reaction to you post Joy is.....Just relax and enjoy your day....lol

I have no idea about #1, #2 is not a must see....it's fun if you're near the show at the right time but I wouldn't plan for it, #3 Plan on $8-10 a meal $5-6 kids for most 'fast food' type options and $14-17 and adult for any sitdown places.  I haven't seen menu prices anywhere online this year.  Don't forget money for cups/refills, and snacks.   #4 I personally wouldn't worry about that....I'm guessing around the hospitality house and ticket building up to the ticket gate is most 'at risk' for change.

But seriously....make sure to just relax and have fun.  I'm all about planning and scheduling to make the most of a trip but don't let it stress you out from just having fun and being in the moment.

Thx all....

I'm on a biz trip in PA right now....literally 5 miles from Dorney Park....but I don't have the time to go (and it's closed during the week now).  This is the 3rd trip this year that I've drove by roller coasters without being able to go :(

Yeah it's been there since earlier this Spring

I don't remember seeing it on the board....but I don't memorize every post.

2 of my kids where ready to go an hour after getting there today :/   They rather be back in the car with their ipads.  SDC has tough competition these days for their attention.

I rode tnt with my oldest 3xs....fun times.  One day I'll get her on a bigger ride.

If SDC made an announcement about 2018 rides right now they would be shooting themselves in the foot for 2017 season passes.  I expect they will be mute about the changes until Spring of next year and then start teasing the heck out of it to try to draw people to come see the construction.  A two year build is tough on a park to market.

It would be a lot easier if they had something coming or being built for 2017 but it seems like nothing is planned from the current rumors.  I wonder if they would advertise FMs last year if that rumor is true?  Might make sense if that is the only thing that will be 'special' next year.  They could make a big deal out of it and get some hype going for 2018.

I may be going over the weekend.....I figure this trip and a Christmas trip this year and them I'm probably done till 2018 (unless it only spins).

I don't want a spinner either....

I wouldn't be afraid of another RMC....it's not like they haven't built 12 other coasters the last couple of years without LR issues.  They make amazing coasters and I'd take 5 of them at SDC....lol.

I'll say it again....most Mack coasters I've seen look amazing.....I just hope it has an option not to spin!!!
