I was at Holiday World this past week. One of their major rides--Giraffica AKA Pilgrim's Plunge--has been taken down. Has anyone heard why? I would guess that the new coaster will be in the area where this ride used to be.

On three different occasions on my visit, rides broke down while I was standing in line. They had problems with the Mammoth, the Wildebeest, and the Voyage. The Voyage got stuck halfway up the lift hill, and the passengers had to walk down.

I normally enjoy my visits to Holiday World, but Friday's visit wasn't the best.

If I remember correctly, wasn't the Land of Forgotten Crafts in front of the waterfall area where the lumberjack dining area is now? I like the concept of the forgotten crafts area. I wish it would come back.

Gaslight Square, however, was horrid. The TV commercials advertising it featured a barbershop quartet. I remember seeing the commercial as a kid and watching my mom almost cry because of what they did to SDC! At the time, I believe that SDC was supposed to be 100 years in the past, and Gaslight Square was supposed to bring the park into the "gay nineties". After the Gaslight Square fiasco, they decided to stick to the 1880's.

They tried to bring SDC into the "future" several years ago with the ill-fated "Gaslight Square" experiment. Thankfully, that idea went away quickly.

If anyone from the park is reading this...please no fire trucks!! There were no trucks in the Ozarks in the 1880's! The concept art shows a fire truck ride, and that worries me.

Well crap...we always come to the park that weekend. That is a three-day weekend for Illinois schools, but not Missouri. It's usually a nice weekend to visit.

I hurry through the modern knick-knacks and shirts as quickly as I can because I have "a great past ahead of me"! I feel the whoosh of the air curtain as I leave the building and walk under the lush, cool archway. The smell of hot asphalt seductively tickles my nose.
