General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2021 Seasons pass benefits
« on: October 24, 2020, 12:00:20 PM »
So they will give one BAF ( Opening day>?) and 2 others.  One for later summer and one for late in the year.  The other is a $25 ticket that if history repeats you get in the mail anyway.  Seems like I got 5 this year in my packet, I will check.  I didn't ever go or use any at all so will I revive "like" tickets or the new plan?  I am kind of confused and it does seem like they have cut back.  If masks are still in play next year I may just get my money back.  That has been a deal breaker for me ( and many others it seems).

Looking at the website it appears they updated for next years plan, however they have removed all the free BAF but one.  Do they announce these or add them at a later date?  This is disappointing if true.  I wonder how and if 2020  BAF ( I never did attend and was considering rolling over) would be applied

You may be on to something but was the weather like this in Pigeon Forge as well?  Time will tell.  We may be seeing the public become restless enough ( softening or whatever reason) that they are starting to get out more.  After a spring and summer that slipped by maybe folks are trying to take advantage of some nice weather before winter sets in.  I will be watching the crowd levels at SDC and the other parks to see if this is a trend.

I know I did get a message saying this weekend "come after 5"  On Screamscape they reported Dollywood hit max two times both Thursday and Friday, I assume Saturday as well but no reports yet.  On a side note Disney just greatly increased the hours for the upcoming months after  dialing them way back just recently.  Maybe people are getting tired of C-19 and the fear being petaled.  ( Dont wish to start a convo about C-19)  but at some point people will begin to venture out and we may be seeing that time at the parks

Construction/Rumors / Re: Future SDC Development Speculation (Long-term)

Pretty cool looking idea it appears to be a powered coaster and although I believe SDC could do a better job of the theming this gets the point across.  I vote for an addition as well not a replacement.  They defiantly need to consider more inside rides. This christmas they may be starved for attractions that can run with reduced shows and shops.  This could be a great addition

The Christmas reservation system is going to be interesting to say the least.

I am not placing my money on crowds this year.  Not because of Cvd but the lack of shows and inside activities.  If weather is cross the rides will not operate and without the shows there is not a whole lot left.  They have reduced the shopping in the city over the past years.  The other parks are having issues with sparse crowds.  It seems that even if people are willing to wear a mask to be safe they are not willing to do this as often.  In other words the number of trips has reduced.  I will be watching for the craft offerings during PN, on one hand booths outside can be something that is safe but with the lack of crowds is it profitable for the crafters?  It will be an interesting fall/winter season.  I really don't envy SDC challenges this season.

I don't care about the bread.  I just want to see the mill presented and demonstrated as a mill.

I have not been in the new lpace but is this true?  are they no longer making the bread?

Thanks, Pintrader.  Now, I need to remember which phone number we used . . . .

I will be using this as well.  I wonder the number of folks that will be rolling the pass, I bet the number is significant.  What will the SP offers be for next year?  Might it be advantageous to get the cash back then purchase next years deal?  They could make a better offer to try to increase the numbers and recoup some of this years loss.

I was on FB this morning and a employee stated they would be holding a new show in the
"plaza" old employee parking lot they are using for Pumpkin nights.  She had mentioned there would be a stage and seating I assume they will be installing a tree there in that area that looked suspiciously like it was fashioned for that last season.  Possibly the old tree?  It almost seemed like the new tree was overwhelming on the square, I wonder if they would move it down there and create more of a "show".  It seems like less obstacles to creating a light show down there as opposed to the square with trees and unmovable structures in the way.  Interesting to ponder

I suspect they will try to make up for this great loss by offering something new.  I am not sure what that could be with the following the shows at Christmas had.  Maybe the street dance at PN will keep them coming in.  I am interested in what the offerings for Christmas will be. If we have a cold winter the loss of the shows will be a killer.  Might be a good time to do a food festival. Winter is a good time to eat!

I have seen very little on line from SDC this year.   I was wondering about Pumpkin nights and Christmas.  Have they made any information available or hinted at what the offerings will be?  Are the shows gone ? I assume they will try to provide some consolation for what will not be possible do to current c-19 precautions / fears. Has information been released and I have not seen it?

People are definitely coming the area more and more for nature than anything else. That's a big part of the reason why the strip is dying. Wonderworks and the new aquarium will hopefully help. The biggest problem I feel is the lack of new types of attractions. You can only do the museums, shows, mini golf, go carts, etc so much. So much of the tourism that Branson relies on is repeat visitors. SDC and the lakes are the big draws now.

The 76 plan seemed to include dressing up the strip.  It would greatly improve the strip to plant some trees and do some nature work in the areas that are lacking interest.  Maybe just some "bones" ( Trees, Roses, Shrubs) that time and nature would improve upon.  The intersections and those congested "waiting areas" could use some plantings and this would seem to go with the nature vibe of Branson.   Maybe this plan has died or they are just unable to afford some minimal investment in the future.  It seems the strip of blinking lights from the 80's is dead and maybe out of favor?

When we were at the City a few days ago I was talking to a shopkeeper at Cowboy Jepp's about the low attendance for that day.  We agreed that summer is not SDC's busiest time even in years before Covid-19.  The bigger crowds happen during fall and winter so I'm thinking the crowds will come in then.  Right now the announcement is no reservations required until Labor Day so I bet once Pumpkin Nights start, at the very least, reservations will be required for weekends.

I agree with this statement.  In the past the Ride Nights were pretty well attended and PN was as huge success  but with social distancing will they have the street party or the new area?  That is not my bag but even in the new Mail flyer I noted there is no mention at all of any shows for Christmas.  Certainly because its early and things are not moving in the direction of opening, difficult to advertise when its up in the air.  That being the case I doubt the shows will return and that is a huge part of Christmas. It could be argued its 50% of the experience.  Not only have they dropped IAWL but the main show will probably be down for inability to " safely" gather people inside and sing.  I detest these joy robbing changes, it leaves little but the lights and the rides.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Going back to SDC

I purchased a seasons pass and would enjoy going for a few hours but have not wanted to activate the pass.  Not to be absolutly negative but I never enjoyed Spring Ride Days becasuse of the lack of anything other than rides.  When watching online videos or read trip reports it seems as if that is what I would find.  Shows are at bare minimum shops booths ext.  It takes a certain customer count to make it seem "happening". and they are no where near that.  If available would consider puchasing a $30 Thursday pass but it doesnt seem like they are doing those this year.  Rock and a hard place,  they need support but if I activate the pass I would not return until things start resembeling normal. It seems a better choice for me to let the pass expire and use it next year.   I wonder how many of " Me " there are out there....

I just checked my receipts.  It was $19.25 for 2 meats 2 sides AND a refill.

I sure did remember 19.99 or 20.00 but maybe I am mistaken  Did you get a discount?  You prepaid for a refill?
Maybe it is 20.00 for lunch or dinner with a drink.  For my pocketbook  thats a steep price for what you are getting.  Value is a personal perception.  What may seem steep to me may be just right to you.  It will all flush itself out in the end.  I still think eating a late breakfast is the best value in the park.
