Ozark Marketplace / Re: Knott's Berry Farm and more!
« on: July 22, 2010, 10:40:54 PM »

I was reading a article at Jim Hills site
http://jimhillmedia.com/Editor_In_Chief/b/jim_hill/archive/2010/07/16/sneaking-a-peek-at-theme-parks-that-might-have-been.aspx

Talking about Harrison Price, a man that worked for Disney and other parks doing feasibility studies.
In this artice there is mention that he did a study in 1994 for Knotts and the Branson Meadows area.
Interesting, I think they could easily pull of a Knotts in Branson.

Watch the vid, notice when they slow the ride the riders throw forward, It is rough and rough on your neck.
I was there a few weeks ago and if we got one in SDC I might ride it once.  IT would end up being a ride like the Lost River, I only ride that when there are guests with that want to go.  I am not interested in getting soaking wet, nor am I interested in having my neck slung back and forth.
Powderkeg and Wildfire are great, so it the Ten. Tornado in Dollywood, I didn't care for the way MM suddenly decelerated and stressed your neck.

I remember walking out the back side of the treehouse and descending a staircase then you went into the infinity room area, you may have even entered through one of SDC man made caves.

I really enjoyed the Mountain Music Festival. Bluegrass and BBQ doesn't have the charm.  I seem to remember smaller stages with groups all over and not just the venues that are only used 2-3 times a day.
I remember as a young boy walking through the city with people playing music all over. The Magic show was a stage if I remember correctly.
As was the wagon stage in mid town that was used by the powder puff girls for the meet and great this year.

Construction/Rumors / Re: Grandfather's Mansion Re-hab?

Removign that waterfall was a cheap....." Its leaking? just take it out, they wont notice at all....."Just like we forgot about the cave in the american plunge, the rocks not falling in the mine, the bridge not collapsing in the fire in the hole.
Just like all those " they wont notice" things
I mean really, if they can keep that water running up hill in the mansion you mean they cant plug a leak.?  ;D

I will admit those green trams seemed to load faster than the new ones.

I just hope this next ride doesn't not hinge its thrills on getting wet.
That is all.
A dark ride would be fantastic, but I even think something like a hybrid float trip would be cool.

I thought that CandleStick was supposed to be great at one time.
I myself go to the Landing, you can walk around before and after dinner.
Watch the water show.
They have Macheronni Grill and Joes Crab Shack and more, check out the website.

# 1 the treehouse.
#2 an apartment above the theater next to the toystore.
I had a friend in a show there and we went upstairs and stood around on the balcony, it was a nice view.

I thought it was funny that the thing was so poorly done.
The boats had to be retrofitted with windshields cause the water would fill your boat  otherwise ( leaving the station ). It broke down with me on it a time or 2.
Really it was probably the worst idea that SDC has invested in.
I am not sure if there was a law suit over that but had I been SDC I would have sued the manufacturer.

You may be thinking about another ride elseware.
American Plunge has always had the same track.

You sure can tell the new signs fromteh older ones, the " real" look isn't there.
They sure don't appear to be done by hand anymore.

Dollywood Discussion / Re: Dollywood Themeing
« on: July 17, 2010, 08:50:03 PM »
Hello,
I just came back from Dollywood after my first ever visit.
My main park is SDC, I have been there 100 times at least.
These were my thoughts on DOllywood, Blazing Fury was a great ride but just by having the Fire in the Hole Song SDC it beats it hands down.  It does look great with the rockwork but that is the setting its in.  Fire in the Hole used to have alot of that same rockwork but they removed it in the past 10 years because it was falling in ( I noticed DOllywood is having the same problem.
Tennessee Tornado is a great ride but regardless of how it hugs the hills Wildfire is much - much smoother and it is also a people hog, you don't have much of a wait with 32 riders a shot.
The theming to Dollywood was great, I was surprised that the water in the ponds and fountains was as green as it is, you would think they would use a little chlorine but...
The 50's part is what I didn't get, there wasn't much there but the theme was drastically different.
Dollywood has alot more money behind it.  That's the way it is.
SDC however is the forerunner between the 2, it paved teh way for Dollywood. It came first so its age will definitely show next to Dollywoods.

I will state as a fact the parking situation at DOllywood is very poor, very poor at the water park as well. That was my only real b!tch about the place.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: SDC Overflow Parking
« on: July 16, 2010, 08:01:28 PM »
Are they using the parking that is off to the left of the entrance where the road splits?
There is a remnant of a parking lot there but I have never seen anyone parked there.
I do have one question.
On peek days where the people park in the fields and such do they allow them to fill the pay to park first as well?
Meaning do they keep that lot half empty?

I honestly haven't see that lot full since they finished it.
Granted I do all I can to avoid busy days at the park.
