Construction/Rumors / Re: SDC's 2011 Project
« on: September 03, 2010, 10:24:54 PM »

I am tired of waiting for an announcement myself.
I watch this thread but see notihng new.
Has anyone asked at the park while they were there?
I was in Dollywood this summer and was told that the swing was coming next year, before this was announced publicly just a few weeks ago.
Maybe they need to be asked.

I don't think they would do a Zipline.
While I was in DW there wasn't anyone using there ziplines at all.
Mistake they will not repeat.

There has been a lot of comments concerning the letter they sent and the tone that it took.
I wonder if the suits are reading these posts and if they realize they really blew that one....

Special effects are the first to go in a ride and its sad because they are what makes it special and gives the experience the edge ( for me anyway).
While standind in line for PowderKeg a rider asked the man ride op ( a grey gentleman that is usually there) who made the ride.
He explained over the P.A. that is was a company out of Utah and added that although Wildfire could operate in a hurricane that PK was very finicy, said that when the tracks are wet the wheels spin on the first hill and will sometimes not make it over.  Maybe this is why they cant get the cars wet at the dip. I must say that when I was there the other day the concrete on those bins looked like they were " hard water" stained, meaning they have been used.

I would love for them to refresh the boat trip, show, and food.
Its a pretty expensive venture if you are not going on a deal.
25 for a seasons pass holder isn't bad, but its still a lot of $ for the same old thing.
Maybe T.O. leaving will allow for and precipitate a fresh start.
Change is a good thing

I think recycling is a wonderfull thing, I am glad there is a cannon in FITH and More glad it is from FTG as it has a history to it.  That's the way things should be.
The ability to utilise things that would otherwise be pitched opens a lot of possibilities.
Its smart, earth friendly and allows for a story.  I would have rather they took the prisoner miners with the projected faces and used them elseware not just replace them. What about you?

2 thoughts on that diagram.
If they did that & its possible.  They would probably open up the walkway near Wildfire as it would really not be possible to have the shows at the Operah house that close without some other traffic relief. Its too much of a bottleneck as it is.
The other thing is the water fall would need some work done to the backside as it is pretty raw back there.
The land would probably also need to be sculpted on that bank.  But if you consider the views of the water fall and the ability to see the activity from the restaurant it will either benefit the area or take away the sereneness.
Personally I think the area there is possible but what will they do for the people waiting for the theater, its such a mess now.

I personally think that the Powder Keg song s#cks.
Its not a FITH or FM theme song that's for sure.
I just wish they would play something besides currant music ( and if they skip that theme song I will never say a word)
But they should play music, the guests are more important that their personal tastes and wishes.

It was slow today but even yet the line for Powder Keg was 30-40 min.
They are rarely running 2 trains when I am there.
Restaurants and several snack stands were closed today.

Face characters were out in force today, Ill tell you I hate to see the Madonna head sets on them but what are you gonna do.
They however weren't getting any feedback from the audience.
I felt a little sorry for them.
Maybe we are just to difficult to entertain these days.

No plastic fan in the restaurant.
However there is a metal one on a stand.  I did check the manufacturers info on the plate of the fan and it said made in 2009.
I immediately sounded a compressed air football siren in the restaurant followed with a very stern and loud announcement that I was from the SDCFANS Forum and wanted to see a manager, ' THIS FAN IS NOT IN THEME'!!!!!

You all would have been so proud of me, I blew that siren the whole time they were physically taking me to the front gate......

Rode this today and you can see where certain sections of track are not " square" even on the lift hill its not straight.  I am sure its almost impossible to get sections that need repair exactly at the right angle and all.
Its still a fun ride.

1 pm today a group of us were hungry so we tried Big Jacks but there was a church group of 50 kids waiting to get in so we went to the mill restaurant.
We had a chicken / catfish buffet.
The chicken was mis-cut pieces, salty and cooked to death. The only thing that really was worth eating was the broccoli salad.  The catfish was OK but showed ALOT of dark skin when you ate it.
There was a group of 7 of us and we all agreed however when we paid it ran 2 of us 30.00 to eat.
Guys that's just crazy.  They couldn't keep the food stocked and it was a salty mess.
I could have sat down and been waited on in Branson for 15.00 a person.
The cookies, funnel cakes, pop corn, Arctic lemonade we all great and we had no complaints.
I chalk that up to experience, I will not trust SDC with another fried chicken buffet, and never NEVER will I pay 15.00 for something like that at SDC again.
