Random Talk / Re: NFL Football 2011!

All H-E double hockey sticks is breaking out here in K.C. after that brutality we witnessed against the Bills. There is already talk of hearing...

"With the first pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select....Andrew Luck, Quarterback, Stanford."

I do believe Todd Haley is on the hot seat!

Random Talk / Re: Where were you on September 11th 2001?
« on: September 01, 2011, 12:31:49 PM »
I was in bed and just waking up when my father knocked on my bedroom door and told me a plane crashed into one of the WTC buildings. I thought "Wow?!" I asked if it was a big jet or a small plane and he said he just heard something about a plane hitting one of the Twin Towers. I got up thinking how bad that sounded, but had NO clue of what it really was. I went about my day, eating breakfast and gathering some clothes for the day and later turned on the tv.....

My jaw hit the floor! It took me a second to grasp what I was really seeing!

A couple of years later, I had this thought......
Can you imagine those Americans who were probably oblivious to the whole thing for awhile?? Farmers way out in their fields, gradeners and groundskeepers at homes where everyone in the home was at work?? I thought about maybe that widowed farmer who gets up at 5am and goes out to farm way out in his huge fields.....can you imagine the impact it had on people like THAT?!

To be honest, it bothers me. It really bothers me. I saw some God awful and horrific pics that I pray I can get out of my head someday and I tend to shy away from the marking of the event. I know that may sound selfish, but when I saw some of the things I saw just from the media, it shook me to my bone marrow.

God love and bless the USA and those victimized by the ruthless &#@*%$@* that's out there!

Well, I have learned about the talent of Terry Sanders from this site and have seen and read about his many characters. But.....he didnt think some of these were a good idea or really fit. I imagine you'd all agree. So....

Top 10 Characters at SDC Terry Sanders thought better of

10. The Grinch at Christmas time.

9. Captain Scuttle (You Benny Hill fans will get that one)

8. Dean Martin

7. Fred G. Sanford (The G stands for Grand Expo!)

6. Lil' Abner (Right area......wrong park!)

5. Elverna Bradshaw

4. Gong Show host, Chuck Barris ("Ahh.....we'll.....Ha!.....we'll.....ahh.....we'll be back with
    more.....stuff!")

3. Former flamboyant stage announcer for "The Price is Right", Rod Roddy

2. Walter Brennan (actually.......he might be able to tweak that one)

And the Number One Character at SDC that Terry Sanders thought better about doing.....

Ed Sullivan! (Tonight......rrrright here.....on our stage...at the SDC Saloon.....we have....a really big shew!)

Sorry to some of the younger folk out there. A few of these are a little past your time.

Random Talk / NFL Football 2011!
« on: August 11, 2011, 09:03:41 AM »
Well folks, here we are on the cusp of yet another season of the NFL! After all of this "lockout" crap, I am ready to tee it up and kick off! Who are you cheering for? What are you watching?

Here are my things to watch off the top of my head...

1. Are the Chiefs for real? With the brutal schedule playing the Patriots, Jets, Steelers and Packers, we'll sure find out!

2. Can Matthew Stafford stay healthy and the Lions get in the playoffs?

3. Can Sam Bradford and the Rams turn the win corner?

4. Do the Jets finally cash in on Rex Ryan's boast of winning the Super Bowl?

5. Do the nasty Steelers get fined six ways from Sunday for more nasty hits?

Thoughts? Opinions? Discussion.......

Well, it seems we are getting a break from this intense heat, but I had one "It's so hot" idea hit, so here it is even if it is kinda outta style now....

It's so hot at SDC that the ladies in HH were so irritable, they tell people "Get your crap and get out!"

Branson Talk / Beverly Hillbillies cast rooms
« on: August 05, 2011, 11:54:16 AM »
Does anyone know if they marked the rooms where the cast stayed?? I believe Junior said the place where they stayed is still there. Anyone know if the rooms were maybe marked with a picture in the room or plaque or something?? If not, that would have been a great marketing tool!
I remember one time, my grandparents had some work done on their house and had to stay in a motel. They happened to stay in a room where Johnny Cash stayed when in Kansas City once. It had his picture and a small paragraph that told he stayed in that room, etc. etc.
Maybe they should figure that out and do it now?!

Hey tinaalsgirl,

Are you still in Independence? I can point you to another Henning spot. Do you know or remember where Beebe's Batteries is on 24 Highway?? Right behind it is a big grassy open area where a few steps go up to a house that isnt there anymore. That's where Paul lived as a child thru his teen years.

Glad I could be of help to everyone! I was watching them this morning. Hey Junior, when Granny is talking to Jed on top of the hotel in SDC episode 2, she mentions all of the area men that are already married and she names Jack Herschend.

I dont know if I have mentioned this or not before. I know I have told you all that I know of several known spots of Paul Henning around here in Independence, Mo. But I found one thing particularly interesting where Paul's parents are buried. Just a few yards from where they are buried, there is a stone with the name, I kid you not, Clampet. One T at the end, not two. Now, I dont know if this is where Paul got the name for the show, but I find it very coincidental!
