Branson Talk / Re: Breakfast-
« on: February 03, 2015, 08:31:13 AM »
Yep, Dockers it is (or was)! Thanks!
Now that I'm married and live in Springfield we usually just do day trips, so no breakfast for us in Branson.

Growing up we stayed at Treasure Lake, so we had our own kitchens.  On occasions that we did go out for breakfast (other than the city) it would be:
 * Golden Coral
 * some buffet in town in a building shaped like a riverboat (the name escapes me--I have no idea if they're even open now)

Branson Talk / Re: Baldknobbers: Reality TV??
« on: January 27, 2015, 12:04:15 PM »
I couldn't find anything on yesterday afternoon, so I somehow ended up watching 1.5 episodes of Branson Famous.  Reminded me of why I don't usually watch "reality" tv; it's so stupidly over-the-top dramatic.  The first time the girl started her singing confessional I was really thrown for a loop.  Oh well, if it helps them make some money...

I can't believe they are already closed for the season. They'll be open again before we know it, though!

Yep, got Marvel Universe live in LR with the kids in a couple of weeks, the week at Disney in Feb, and tHan geared up hoping for warm temps for SDC opener. Time will fly by.

We were there last weekend, and it's great to see how much is done already.

Chittlins, you'll have to let me know how Marvel Universe Live is.  I've heard really mixed reviews, and I'm wondering if I want to see it when it makes it my way next year.

After getting passes the past few years I think my hubby is burnt out on the city again.  It was like pulling teeth to get him to go this season.  I hope we'll still get passes for 2015 (or at least one for me, and he can use the BAF if he ever feels like going).

In my experience Saturdays during Old Time Christmas are INSANE!  Crowds so big you can't even move. I image Friday will have fewer people.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / 2015 Schedule
« on: November 18, 2014, 11:05:51 AM »
I noticed the 2015 Operating Calendar is out (here at this link)

Some things I noticed:
In May they're closing on Mondays instead of Tuesdays.
Bluegrass & BBQ is weeks shorter this season, only 3 weeks,
to make room for Season Pass Appreciation being 2 weeks again.
There are 3 nights they'll be open until Midnight: June 6, July 25, and August 1.
Southern Gospel picnic looks to be a few days longer this year, and Country Music Weekend is now 3 days instead of 2.
Harvest & Cowboy fest runs all the way through October, with the park being closed the first week of November to prep for OTC.

Here is the Weather Guidelines For Rides & Attractions

Quote
Precipitation
The following rides will not operate if any form of precipitation is present: Electro Spin, Grand Expo Coaster, Mighty Galleon and PowderKeg.

Check the list for the temps at which rides close (it's between 40° and freezing).

I don't know about the parade if it's raining, sorry.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: OTC 2014..What do you think?
« on: November 13, 2014, 08:29:18 AM »
On topic by 50% I went to get the ornament the night I was there at the park and check on the new passes possibly order them.  In the schoolhouse there were 3 ladies behind the counter.  1 was doing nothing at her register but paperwork and the other 2 were slowly processing passes.  I stood there for 25 min and was 3 people back in line when I got there.  The end result was frustration and lost interest in the situation and I walked.  I would hardly think I am the only one that isn't interested in using more than 30 min of my evening at the park waiting to get  a free ornament and simultaneously shelling out $200 for next years passes.  I expect better service than this at SDC.   This needs to be sped up.   I did not understand why they were asking every question for every person and these people appeared to be current pass holders.  Why the system would not allow them to scan the bar and then confirm that no info had changed.  Instead apparently they have to confirm each bit of info for each pass purchased.  Very slow, I lost interest, if they are going to give away ornaments don't make me wait in line for 30 min to get one.  Do this at 2 or 3 park locations.

We had the same experience the past two years (haven't been down yet this OTC).  At the very least they could do one line for just ornaments.  I feel like I'm wasting my night by standing in line for 30 minutes or more just for a free ornament.

I know some parks allow you entry for the rest of the 2014 operating season when you purchase a 2015 season pass. Does this work for The City's 2015 season pass? Also, does anyone know the price 2014 season pass holders pay for an additional single day ticket?

If you buy a one day pass for SDC during Christmas then you can upgrade it to a 2015 season pass for $50.

Like FITH, they stop you at the building & only let 3-4 sets of riders in the numbered lines, you are not all stacked up IN the building.

Powderkeg they stopped you at the top of the stairs that go over the top of the coaster, & its the same, only about 3-4 sets of riders standing in the numbered lines.

Outlaw Run they stopped you at the numbered lines but did not let you go. Just 3-4 sets of riders in there too. I guess so it would not get all crowded & stacked up.

All lines were just barely out the buildings to the major roller coasters. All the other rides we did not have a problem. I liked it because its nice to have ya'r 3 feet of personal space. Maybe i'm weird, but it just seemed faster to me, i dont know why. Maybe if people see what they think is a long line, they move on to another ride. I dunno....  ???

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0B1rS6LGY3Y -- Heres my lil' video, Enjoy!!

On Sunday at Outlaw Run they were only letting one train worth of people into the stalls.  There were some upset folks in line, wanting to sit in specific seats.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Rudolph Parade, New for 2014
« on: October 17, 2014, 08:35:45 AM »
Not having kids yet, we avoid the parade. (It's amazing how empty the rest of the park is during parade time!) I know Rudolph isn't in theme at all, but Rudolph is one of my favorite Christmas movies, so we'll watch it probably once.  IDK, I guess with it being Christmas I don't mind.

Fun SDC brochure from 1983 (I think), detailing "Evenings are really special at Silver Dollar City!". Highlights the Echo Hollow dinner show, and special craft demonstrations at the park from 5-8 pm.

We're going to hit up the City for the Harvest Fest this week--either Friday afternoon for a little while, or on Saturday.  I can't remember the last time we actually went to SDC on a Saturday, we try to avoid it when possible.  But we still need one more festival!

That doesn't sound too bad.  At the moment we're at a point where we personally don't need the lockers.
