I remember those bags, Rube ... that is so cool you still have them, as well as the tickets. I only wished I kept some of those things as well. Not sure why that image has stayed with me all these years, but it's what I always remembered when we visited.

... And while I am thinking to do so, may everyone here have the happiest of holiday season!

Hi Junior - Even before your invite, I discovered your site here ... just some great pics!!! Ironically, before I found this board, I was desperate enough yesterday to actually write SDC and ask if they had the image of the original entrance sign that Pintrader so kindly shared. Anyway, I heard back today from Suzanne @ SDC, who was just wonderful ... even though she did not have access to that original sign image, she did offer up their trove of 60s/70s images to me ... ask, and ye shall receive! I've no idea what she has, or if she'll need me to provide specific attractions/sights to see if they exist. But I did reply, and await what she will say - not sure how unique they will be for the die hard fans here, but as long as I'm not violating any copyrights, I'd be very open to sharing these with the group.

It sure feels that way, History Buff! Thanks for the warm welcome ... and yes, sanddunerider, I was just stunned at how fast the pic appeared, thanks to pintrader ... this after years of searching. Obviously I was looking in the wrong places. Nice to have a place to share the memories with others who appreciate it just as much. We spent many years going every summer ... I have just the tiniest of memories of the park just being a craft village with free admission (anyone wanna confirm this or say I'm crazy?) ... amazing how much, yet how little has changed, the core essence remains. Always loved to "dine in the mine", recall the float trip fondly, remember how I wanted no part of "Fire in the Hole" when it opened due to a fear of coasters (long over that!). We'd also always tie the visits with Mutton Hollow & Dogpatch ... such fun times.

Pintrader - Wow ... just wow. I'd no idea I would see a pic so quickly, much less at all. Kinda emotional right now - you've no idea how much this means. Thanks doesn't quite cover it ... wishing you the best of holidays and everything thereafter!!!

Wow ... a message board with some real fans!! I grew up going to Silver Dollar City every single summer from the late 60s thru the 70s ... we always stayed south of the park at the Red Eagle Resort with the great individual cabins. My parents and their friends, who used to go with us every time were even offered the chance to purchase the property, which they declined ... what regrets! Anyway, since it is very apparent there are true fans here, is there a photo floating around out there of the original Silver Dollar City entrance sign? It was the one with the miner and the pickax ... I fondly remember seeing this as we approached the park, coming up from Branson, and then again right at the parking lots for the park. I've been working on a project for the family, and would LOVE to have a photo of this sign to include. All of my internet searches have been in vain ... reaching out here in the hopes someone might have captured this moment in time. Thanks in advance from a old, but new fan!
