General Silver Dollar City Talk / Big Boy Seats ...
« on: June 06, 2016, 08:46:09 PM »
Do you think SDC should invest in having a few of these seats on Wildfire, PK and Outlaw Run?  I have rode all of them but just barely.  Last year I could do wildfire, this year, could not by just a couple of inches.  I would think that with the average american size getting bigger they would at least have some seats that those of us that are a little larger than the rest could also enjoy all the rides or why spend 60$ a day to just walk around?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Ride theme songs ...
« on: June 05, 2016, 09:30:48 PM »
I read on another thread that SDC, for their 50th anniversary, put up some of the songs associated with rides in the park.  Is there anywhere they are still up on the web that I can listen to or download them?  Thanks

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Thunderation !
« on: June 05, 2016, 08:05:18 PM »
I posted this along with another comment I made under the construction rumours thread but thought it be best to be put out here.

Does anyone have any press releases, photos, videos from when tnt was announced and/or opening day of it?  I know Bob Phillips from KODE tv station in Joplin did a Phillips file on it but would have no idea how to find it.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Saloon Show
« on: June 05, 2016, 11:59:55 AM »
Nothing reminds me more of my gramps then going to watch a show at the ol Silver Dollar Saloon.  Since gramps passsed a way a couple of years ago, it's very emotional for me to go to SDC since him and I and my cousin would go camping every summer and every day we would be at SDC so it has a lot of special meaning for me.  Still yesterday, watching the gang take out mean murphy, I got choked up thinking of my gramps.  Anyway, since last year was carrie nation and this year mean murphy, the same shows I saw 20 years ago it go me thinking, how often do they change the show or will they keep one theme and use it for year after year? Also, if anyone has any old pictures of the show, or video even, I'd very much like to see them.  Thanks.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Employee days ...
« on: June 01, 2016, 05:37:57 PM »
I'm going Saturday, June 4, as part of an employee day at my employer.  Just curious, how much do you citizens just love having corporations come in and just over-fill the park like that?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Thunderation last night ...
« on: July 19, 2015, 10:47:37 AM »
My wife and I love Thunderation.  Ever since it opened when I was a kid, it was the first ride of the day when I showed up to the park.  My wife has continued that tradition with me.  We went last night, mostly to see the Globetrotters, but also because we wanted to ride Thunderation at night.  We have gotten to do that a couple of times this year and it's way awesome.  We talked with the girl that worked there and she informed us that after the fireworks go off, they'll re-open about 10-15 minutes after just to make sure nothing was compromised by the fireworks since they were shot off near the ride.  Completely understandable.  After watching the fireworks at Echo Hollow, we went straight to Thunderation.  There was a good line in front of us and it just kept growing.  As we were waiting, one of the guys came up and said that maintenance had to come and inspect the track.  I get that, no problem.  We were informed that it would be 15 minutes or so for them to do that.  Well, it kept getting later and later and later and later and finally at 9:50, 10 minutes before the park closed, they shut down the ride.  Very disappointing.  There never said why it closed, I don't think it had anything to do with the fireworks but I don't know.  I think if you knew you weren't going to re-open it, just say it right away and not let everyone waste their last 45 minutes of the park by standing in a line for a ride that won't open.

Construction/Rumors / 2 More Days !!!
« on: August 11, 2014, 01:57:23 PM »
I'm really getting excited for what's going to be announced on Wednesday.  If they are putting it where Geyser Gulch is, that's a big area for one small ride is what I'm thinking. Also, I can't help but think it's somewhat related to Fire in the Hole theme since their calling for action for the Fire Brigade. Can anyone drop just a few hints to wet our appetite anymore?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Thunderation down?
« on: August 09, 2014, 10:15:09 AM »
I kept checking the wait times for TN yesterday and it was always 0 minutes whereas every other ride was at least 20 minute wait. I just checked and said it was temporarily closed. Hope nothing serious.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / First Time in a Long Time
« on: August 08, 2014, 12:11:37 AM »
Yesterday I took my wife to SDC. It has been at least 13 years since I've been there, at least. I only live an 1 1/2hr away and we go to branson quit a bit but never to sdc. I went a BILLION times growing up. My wife is from OKC and went as a kid some 25+ years ago. Man, such great memories. It was also very tough and sad. I lost my grandpa going on 3 weeksnow. I went with him several times, made a lot of great memories with him. Nearly lost it several times but it was great to relive those memories.

My wife isn't big on rides but she absolutely LOVE Thunderation !! She could not get enough! Of coursr, i was more than happy to accompany her. Rode Outlaw Run for the first time. That legit scared me to death. What a great addition to SDC !!! Loved it. I can see why it gets all the press, simply fantastic.

Awful crowded today but still had a blast.

Thank you for letting me join the discussion!
