Branson Talk / Top 10 Branson Faves
« on: July 10, 2010, 01:53:53 PM »
What do you do when Silver Dollar City is closed?

1. Farmhouse Restaurant - yummy chicken fried steak!

2. Dick's 5 and 10 - always walk out with a treasure!

3. Go Karts! It's become a tradition. I wouldn't recommend the lumberjack one with the two towers because it's nothing but a lot of right turns.

4. Driving around Indian Point looking at all the resorts and reminiscing about the places we've stayed in the past.

5. We went to Shepherd of the Hills last year and it was reeeeeaaaaaalllllyyyy lame. You'd think it would get better since they do a million shows a day.

6. Ride the Ducks is a lot of fun but not something we do every time.

That's all I've got - not quite 10! I've got a few places I want to try out. If you have any input, please let me know!

1. The homestead tours at Shepherd of the Hills or any of the other activities there besides the show.

2. Wine tasting at Stone Hill Winery

3. Visit the College of the Ozarks.

« on: January 22, 2009, 11:52:44 AM »
There are videos on the SDC website of all the craftsmen explaining what they do at the park. I don't know how long ago they were posted on the site, I may have just overlooked them. I wanted to share it with you in case you did the same!

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Marvel Cave Group Pictures
« on: June 09, 2008, 01:32:36 PM »
When I did the Marvel Cave tour as a kid, I remember having a group picture taken before we went into the cave. My parents told me they did that to make sure no one snuck off during the tour or fell into an undiscovered abyss. It scared the crap out of me. There was a girl with a huge pink mohawk in the picture and I thought, "Whoa, no one will lose her!" When I went last year they didn't take the group picture but they did have a photographer in the cathedral room to take souvenir pictures. I guess all these years my parents were lying to me about keeping track of people and those group pictures were just for souvenir's sake. Hmph.

Random Talk / Silver Dollar City Art Exhibit
« on: June 08, 2008, 09:35:46 PM »
Back in April there was an art exhibit featuring artists from the University of Oklahoma. I went with my friend and was extremely shocked to find photographs of Silver Dollar City. There were snapshots of Fire in the Hole, the Flooded Mine, baldknobbers, and the train robbery. They looked like pictures I would have taken on my own vacation to the City except they were taken with a professional camera, enlarged, and framed. The artist also had pictures from Dollywood and I forget what the point of her show was but it had something to do with her not having an appreciation for frontier theme parks. SHE WAS SELLING THESE PHOTOGRAPHS FOR $600!!!!! Here's one of them: http://www.flickr.com/photos/haterpotater/2395097848/in/set-72157604417649000/
