Random Talk / NFL Football 2011!
« on: August 11, 2011, 09:03:41 AM »
Well folks, here we are on the cusp of yet another season of the NFL! After all of this "lockout" crap, I am ready to tee it up and kick off! Who are you cheering for? What are you watching?

Here are my things to watch off the top of my head...

1. Are the Chiefs for real? With the brutal schedule playing the Patriots, Jets, Steelers and Packers, we'll sure find out!

2. Can Matthew Stafford stay healthy and the Lions get in the playoffs?

3. Can Sam Bradford and the Rams turn the win corner?

4. Do the Jets finally cash in on Rex Ryan's boast of winning the Super Bowl?

5. Do the nasty Steelers get fined six ways from Sunday for more nasty hits?

Thoughts? Opinions? Discussion.......

Branson Talk / Beverly Hillbillies cast rooms
« on: August 05, 2011, 11:54:16 AM »
Does anyone know if they marked the rooms where the cast stayed?? I believe Junior said the place where they stayed is still there. Anyone know if the rooms were maybe marked with a picture in the room or plaque or something?? If not, that would have been a great marketing tool!
I remember one time, my grandparents had some work done on their house and had to stay in a motel. They happened to stay in a room where Johnny Cash stayed when in Kansas City once. It had his picture and a small paragraph that told he stayed in that room, etc. etc.
Maybe they should figure that out and do it now?!

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Culinary School porch?
« on: July 18, 2011, 03:08:50 PM »
I need some clarification here if y'all could please...

Sometime back, it seems I remember someone posting that the Culinary School had a wrap around porch and you could purchase drinks at the school and sit around back in rockers and chairs? Seems like someone posted pictures of this from the back porch. I have two questions here...

One...is my remembrance correct

Two...what is the view of from the back porch?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Thank you to video!
« on: July 13, 2011, 08:46:38 AM »
I know my headline doesnt seem to be SDC Talk, but this is...

I know we are batting around the SDC TV web cam ideas, but thank God for home videos of the present day! I hit YouTube pretty regular and ride the FM and FITH over and over again! Someone posted a FM video on YouTube where they start from the very beginning by taping themselves walking up to the entrance and and all the way through! It's pretty nice seeing that and listening to the many sounds of the FM where you hear the warden and the water and the banjo. I love those eyelevel videos that people shoot because it gives you that "being there" feel through your own eyes.

I love to go out on the front porch and play YouTube on the wife's cell phone and relax to a virtual FM ride!

Other Parks / The "Old" Worlds Of Fun
« on: July 12, 2011, 10:38:22 AM »
I was just wondering how many of you had been to Worlds of Fun in Kansas City and if you had memories of it from years ago. Do any of you remember the Cotton Blossom riverboat? The marionette puppet show? The old dolphin show with Skipper and Dolly? The jungle cars that were like the taxi cars? How about the mascot characters?

Will you share your memories and favorite times from the "old" W.O.F.?

Random Talk / Hi to Everyone!
« on: June 29, 2011, 08:53:01 AM »
Hello SDC family!

I thought I would drop in and say Hey. I know it's been awhile and I have kinda faded from view on here. I have been dealing with a lot and it has had a domino effect in my life and, to tell the truth, I have just lost the zeal in which I was on here. I hope to be back soon and be back to my old self. I hope you are enjoying health and happiness and are doing ok. I miss being here in the "neighborhood" and will try to get back as soon as I can!

Best wishes,

Andy

Good afternoon, Everyone! Good to see you all again. I am sorry I have been gone for so long and have missed the back and forthing with you. I wanted to duck in here real quick and leave you a top ten that kinda hit me. I hope you are all well and ok and I will try to get back here regularly like I was. Hope you enjoy this top ten! Take care, All!!!!

Top Ten Ways to Open SDC on Opening Day

10. Patch in NASA audio. Have launch crew do countdown to open gates!

9. Geraldo Rivera is there LIVE! to open the lost SDC vault! He finds, to his embarrassment, nothing but small pieces of old rides.

8. Billy Crystal hosts the ceremony. Does huge musical number, "Ode to Lye Soap!"

7. SDC gives Roseanne a second chance at the National Anthem!

6. Barney Fife recites the opening of the Constitution! (With Sheriff Andy's help)

5. Pee Wee Herman is MC. Secret word is "opening." Everone goes berzerk when word is said.

4. SDC gets Fonzie to open gates. The Fonz blow on the side of his fist, hits gates with said fist, the gates open, and he replies "The gates.....are officially.....Open! (pause) Aaaayyyyy!"

3. SDC gets Red Green as MC. He cuts the ceremonial duct tape ribbon!

2. COMEDIAN RIP TAYLOR AND HIS BAG OF CONFETTI! (You older folk will get that one! LOL!)

And the number one way to open SDC on Opening Day.....(and I think we will all agree on this one)

Junior gets to throw out the first obnoxious tourist!

Have a great one, SDCers! Hope you liked it!

« on: May 18, 2011, 10:04:44 AM »
Hey to all of my SDCFans family! I am sorry I have disappeared on ya' all. I have had much to do in my history research and personal life and have kinda backed away from the internet a little. Actually, I have backed away from the whole computer!  :D

Anyway, I am still around and have missed jawing with all of you. Also sorry, I havent had a new Top Ten in awhile. I will drop in again soon and try to get back into the thick of things! Until then...take care, be safe and be careful and I will be back as soon as I can!

Andy
