On my visits this year, I have found that I am in the minority in thinking that Thunderation isn’t that bad. I understand why people think it’s rough, but I have never considered it to be close to unrideable. I do always sit in the middle row of a car, which I think helps, instead of being in a wheel seat.

The operations this past Saturday were interesting. Right at park opening, when it was raining, TT, WF, and OR all had only one train running, but when we came back at 4 they all had two running. Then by 9, OR was back down to one train but WF still had two going which I found interesting since OR actually had a decent line (around 20 minutes).

PK opened at around 12:30 on Sunday after being closed all day Saturday, even though the board at the entrance said it was closed on Sunday. Once it reopened, it didn’t seem to have any downtime the rest of the day.

We also got to take advantage of the early ride time on Monday for season pass holders, which is a great benefit along with the first hour trailblazer for gold and diamond passholders. We were in the park at 9 and rode PK, FITH, Barn Swing, OR, MRF, Firefall, TT, and TNT before 10:30.

I was at Silver Dollar City over the weekend. It was my first time riding Mystic River Falls since I’ve only been in the park at Christmas since it opened, and I was surprised that it seemed to be very reliable the three days I was in the park. I don’t think I ever saw it closed while I was there. All the rides seemed to be running well with two trains on Powder Keg and Time Traveler all three days and two trains on Wildfire and Outlaw Run on Saturday. Thunderation still only has one train available.

We did the tasting passport and had the BBQ chicken & cheese waffle cone, BBQ pulled pork pizza, BBQ tater twist dog, BBQ pulled pork nachos, and BBQ chicken mac and cheese. All dishes were good and you definitely get your moneys worth.

They are continuing to work on the parking lot, but lot two seems to be done except for some fencing possibly. It is slightly confusing with how many cones they have set up, but the signs do a pretty good job telling people where to go.

Random note: On both days when riding Thunderation, they announced that iPhones left in the cubbies need to be turned off or put in airplane mode. Does anyone know why that would be? No other ride made that announcement.

Does the back side of the Fireman’s Landing building look like anything but a warehouse? It would be nice if that entire building looked the same now that we’ll see the whole thing.

Palallin, even if you download the app, it is not updated to announce show cancellations. When we were there one day in December all of the morning gazebo shows were cancelled but were still listed on the app. The first 2 Dickens shows were cancelled but that wasn't on the app. No signs up either.

I was also in the park when Palallin was, and the Dickens shows did not show up in the schedule on the app. I was wondering if Dickens was never on the schedule for this week because the app (and signage by the Opera House) showed Lindley Creek was performing there December 27-30.

I also found that post interesting. I’m planning on being there tomorrow and Wednesday, so I’m hoping the threat of rain both mornings keeps some people away until later in the day.

It seems to me like it will be difficult to enforce this and hard for guests to know when they have to wear a mask. I feel like it would be easier just to keep the rules the same as they are until you can get rid of the mask requirement entirely, or at least until you can say something like “masks are only required indoors”.

2 things come to mind.  First of all, I am not buying into the hype surrounding the virus, but if you are showing any kind of symptoms, stay at home.  With that said, what kind of MORON goes into public, much less SDC with symptoms.  The 2nd thing that comes to mind, I guess their temp checks are pretty much useless.

I thought the same thing about going out with symptoms, but also realize that it’s very possible a person could have symptoms without noticing any changes in their physical health. I know many people who always seem to be coughing and others who have headaches frequently. So depending on what symptoms this person had, maybe they hadn’t even noticed any changes in their physical health.

....and all of this could have been avoided if they’d just made the passes good through the end of 2021.  There’d be no one asking for refunds or people wanting to roll over passes to 2021.  It would have just worked itself out.  Guess Cedar Fair knew best after all

Seeing all the backlash, (and I am sure they are aware of it) they might cave and follow suit with Cedar Fair.

Well when they promised a full season of unlimited visits, people have a right to be upset considering the visits are no longer unlimited.

Honestly it will just be nice when people can stop arguing about how to respond this virus. There isn’t a good solution. All these stay at home orders have negative consequences just like going out has risks. I wish people could just let people do what they feel is right.

Yeah no.  WOF hasn’t been ignored.  Please don’t speak on a topic you have little to no knowledge on.  WOF to SF would be a death blow to the park.   

Ok Oh great know it all who's knowledge far surpasses all others, what improvements has WoF made in the last several years outside of a few flats that rarely open?

This year was a retheme of a restuarant and a pitiful attempt at a festival with a few booths and a small parade.
2018- one small flat and a replacement of a helix on Timber Wolf, which half fixed the ride.
2017- 2 flats- an old recycled troika and an old recycled Condor that rarely runs and was down most of 2017 and 2018
2016- a few kiddie rides
2015- nothing
2014- Windseeker, ok, a decent addition this year
2013- nothing (joining the 2 parks together is not an addition)
2012- nothing- oh, except adding Fast Lane
2011- Planet Snoopy- adding a kids area and a carousel.  Not bad.
2010- "Hot Summer Lights" and a Subway sandwich shop.  whoopee

Plus the new entrance and addition of Winterfest in 2017 and Dinosaurs Alive in 2013. Also new slides in 2013 and a new kids water park area in 2015. Also, I would say joining the two parks together was a big deal. They added new slides in the process and I’m sure both parks saw an increase in attendance since they only had to pay for one ticket.

I don’t think the park would be any better off today if Six Flags had owned the park over the last 10 years. With Six Flags St. Louis being so close also, decreased competition likely would cause both parks to not add as much.

About Lake Silver...

On the lake, add a water fountain show complete with  choreographing to Dueling Ban........err, Ozarkian Music. 5 minute show on top and bottom of the hour.  This was quite common in Europe from Palace Gardens to theme parks. Older folk crowd pleasers they are.  Puy du Fou had a smaller one on a lake/pond about the size of the former Lake Silver.

While that would be nice, I don’t see how they would make any return on investing in that. I doubt anyone would go to SDC just to see the fountains, especially when the Landing has fountains for free. So I don’t think the park would see any benefit in investing in a fountain show. Also I feel like a fountain show would be difficult to see having MRF or FL in the background most likely and would create more crowd issues with people stopping along the path to see the show.

You know how many times i go the landing  or down 76 when I go to SDC, 1 out of  20 if that.  It is not relevant.

Not my point. I was saying that if you wanted to see a fountain show, you could go to the landing. I doubt anyone would decide to go to SDC or not based on a fountain show when they can go to one for free. Therefore, while a fountain show maybe wouldn’t cost much, it would likely cost more than it would make SDC.

While it’s there for a potential rollback, there are definitely brakes on the switch track also, though I don’t know if they would do anything if there was a rollback. Does anyone know if there’s actually ever been a rollback?

American Plunge lines will get long if it’s a hot day, and if you like water rides Riverblast is one that everyone can ride. It’s hard to know what lines for those rides will look like this summer because they got rid of a water ride this offseason. Also, Thunderation technically is not a wooden coaster, though it is rougher than some other steel coasters.

When I was at SDC at Christmas, I put my phone in the cubbies at Powder Keg then it was gone when I came back.  I talked to a ride operator by the exit and went back in to look for it and somehow the main ride operator had it. I still want to know how she ended up with it.
