We went to the park this past Saturday and Sunday. Thanks to our trailblazer passes we walked right on to MRF.  It was a nice ride but honestly I think I liked LR better.  It seems like you bounce off the sides of the channel quite a bit and can be a bit rough.  It also seems like most of the ride time is tied up with with transporting the boat from one point of the ride to another.  Boat seems to spin quite a bit, and fast too sometimes.  Don't get me wrong, I still think it is a great ride but not one I would wait more than about 15-20 minutes to wait.  On Sunday we went right to the ride and rode it thru the regular line the later on used our TB to ride it again  The park was pretty empty, parking lot not very full, but I think everyone was on line at MRF.

We also ate at Ribhouse.  When we went thru the line and got our food, I was impressed by the amount of food they gave for the price.  I got the brisket and pulled pork.  To me both seems on the dry side for my liking.  Flavor was not bad, not anywhere close to the best bbq I have had but probably good for a theme park.

I was there on Saturday. I rode MRF twice. I waited 90 minutes each time and the wait was worth every second. You miss a lot when you use your trailblazer. There are a lot of cool details in thee line. In the second waiting area there is an amazing view of the ride out the window. It also is a ton of fun being in line and watching the boats drop through the ride que building. To each their own bu I will happily wait any amount of time for MRF.

The next time you go to the smokehouse get the turkey. I have tried all the other meats and the turkey is the best every time.

I'm glad you got to ride over the weekend. It took me 4 separate times in line to finally ride. Granted those were during the soft opening phase.

Fair enough. I don't think I will make as many spontaneous trips this summer like I did last summer.

But thankfully wearing a mask does not impact things too much for me. I suspect that midnight madness will be pretty empty this year. I can not imagine wearing a mask in that typical heat and humidity.

I was struggling to figure out what could be missing from the elevator lift. It would be very cool if it is complete or near complete.

A conversation I had in line at Fire in the Hole was that SDC may be shooting for the end of July as a open date.

Take that for what it is. I heard it from a guest who talked to an employee.

At any rate it is better than nothing!

When we rode fire in the hole the guy putting us in line said they had done a bunch of work to the track and it was now very smooth on the drops. He wasn’t lying, it was quite a bit of difference. The ride looked and rode great. Hard to believe they would put work into it to just tear it down soon.

I rode Fire in the hole this weekend looking forward to what you described. To me and my family it seemed to have rode rougher than it ever has in the past. Not sure if things changed from Saturday to Sunday or not.

I will try it again but if is still rough for me I will be passing on this possible last year.

What is the story with how things are going to transpire moving forward after this weekend?

We were planning on going middle of next week and have heard about season pass holders leaving within just a few hours after admittance due to masks in heat, many indoor locations were closed off, hour+ long waits due to staff cleaning the rides between each ride cycle, etc. This was just over the weekend.

Any word if these precautions were done in a limited testing cycle to see how they affected the ebb and flow of availability and customer satisfaction? I've also read on their FB page comments about the misery in attending.

Thanks

I think it depends on the mask you wear and if you have little kids. My family and I were there from 9 am till 5pm. It can be a challenge with masks but not impossible. We had cloth masks and I wore a wide brimmed hat. I think both mate a difference for me.

The biggest thing was the lines were funky enough for me my focus was not on the rised but mroe on the fun of the experience of SDC,

Make sure to catch Lindley Creek!

Anyone going to wear one of these masks?

I would if they made it in dry fit! :)

Looks like they aren't selling TrailBlazer passes anymore.
They are still selling 25 Super Splash Passes per day for WW.

I am glad to hear Trailblazers are no longer sold. They won't be needed in this time.

Looks like they are selling 4800 SDC tickets per day and 1056 WW tickets per day.
I wonder if season pass reservations are from a separate block or if they are subtracted from the number of daily tickets. Or it might also be a combination of the two.

If that is the total number on park you will have the park to your self.

Good question if season pass holders contribute to that number. I guess we will find out come the opening weekend.

I'll be in SDC on June 14. I can't wait.

That is good to hear. But I think it would be wise to implement a reservation system now, so it will be normal when it is needed in the fall and Christmas.

Because I was just a little guy back then, I always considered it a drop, too.  I had already spent a LOT of time on the water of the lake, and "dropping" in a boat was disconcerting!

Glad to know I'm not the only one.

It took some convincing for me to ride the flooded mine the first time. I didn't ride my first roller coaster until I was in 6th grade. And the only one I would ride was the mine train at six flags.

12
The mine hasn't had a "drop". What you're remembering is, when the loaders release the boats, they drop up to a foot, settling in the water as it enters the main channel.

Fair enough. I was a little kid when I rode it before the guns. Before the 90's I only got to go to SDC every few years.

I'm thankful I got to ride the Diving bell and got to ride the Greedy Brothers canoe ride. I also remember getting to ride the pump car ride.

13
I would love to have the original ride back with the drop at the beginning.

I am a little lost on your statement there......a drop at the beginning of The Flooded Mine??

It wasn't a huge drop. But there was a little change in elevation. The water was rushing and there was a sign that said keep your hands and head down.

It probably seemed more than it was since I was younger at the time. The took it out when they added the guns to the ride.

14
I would love to have the original ride back with the drop at the beginning. However, the guns were a part of my childhood so I'm still a bit partial to them.

I would love to have an archival SDC park where we had the tree house. The old play area where the tom and hucks water ride is now, have the canoe ride on lake silver and rube dugan's diving bell.

Since I can't, I enjoy what hasn't changed and fondly remember what has changed.

But it would be nice if there was a week where the guns were not active and you didn't hear the sound of people shooting.

15
I like the guns but it is not the reason I ride. Our family does have a lot of fun competing with each other.

But there are times I'm happy my gun does not work.
