Title: Cheetah Being Retired (Scrapped?)
Post by: sdcfan88 on February 19, 2021, 11:26:29 PM
Haven't seen it mentioned on here as I know this park is one of the lesser talked about Herschend properties but Wild Adventure's only custom wooden coaster is reported via TPR and social media to be placed in "official retirement" in favor of "future developments" and will not return to operation for 2021. Some speculate a possible RMC conversion or a refit with the new track GCI is putting out but knowing how Herschend treated Ozark Wildcat I bet its just gonna be a full on demo with nothing worthwhile to really replace it. We shall see.

I'm willing to bet they will refurbish it and market it as a new attraction.

Ozark Wildcat isn't really applicable here, it was a closed eyesore (in the city's view) that was turning into a liability. It was never going to run again, unfortunately.

Cheetah feels like too big of an attraction to lose, unless they are planning on also taking out the SLC and some other rides and taking the park down a notch to focus on animals and the water park.

Well, it was confirmed that the ride is being disassembled. Weird choice to me, I still don't get it. I guess they are refocusing that whole area on animals.

Hey Shave, when you say disassembled - could there be a chance for a rebuild somewhere? Or is this a bulldoze and scrap type removal?

I don't know why they would want to rebuild it somewhere else, not like it was an earth shattering ride, unless there's a property of theirs where it would fit better for the demographic? Anyway does seem like an odd choice without knowing their ultimate plan.

The blurb in ACE news actually said they were carefully taking it apart to salvage. Amuse rides is the company doing it. It sounds like they want to recycle some of the structure into a new ride somewhere, maybe a smaller coaster. Not sure they are doing it for WA though, but time will tell.
