What crafts or skills would you like to see brought back to SDC
I would certainly like to see the split oak baskets, broom makers, and even a wooden jon boat being built.

All of the above! Plus, bring back the woodcarver's shop back to it's glory rather than the few tools, sparsely made local products, and the Chinese made junk they have.

Timber guy is still there. Hubs has a conversation with him every time we're there. Blacksmithing is a real shame. It hasn't been good since Wayne retired. The focus is more on making aluminum signs than actual blacksmithing, so the blacksmiths don't hang around long since they aren't too interested in aluminum sign quotas. Fifteen min. show a few times a day is really sad, especially with the renewed interest in blacksmithing around the country.

Would also like to see the return of the letter press. One is still available, I doubt the ones rusting outside the old print shop can be saved.

Not a craft per se, but I miss the big music box in the HH during the fall . . . .

As much as I enjoy the charm and intrigue of the various demonstrations, I would also enjoy seeing new opportunities for more hands-on, interactive offerings. Things like Carries Candles that allow guests to take a closer look at how things are, or used to be me made, combined with the chance to make and take home. There are few things more gratifying than being able to become your own artisan, or have a hand in creating something special and uniquely your own.

Those are still around, but they don't work well with modern pennies. Hardly any copper at all, so they're much harder.

Pewter spinning. It used to be done just up from the depot in the old silver shop.
