Title: Restaurant recommendations and revues in the Branson Area
Post by: mhguy77 on March 18, 2019, 04:10:46 PM
How about a new thread to highlight recommended Dining spots in the Branson SDC area.  I am often stumped to choose the next good spot to go and this might be a good place to get a new idea.

What are the best Italian spots in the Branson area.  We tried Reed Spring Pizza last year and it was very good.  It was a little bit of a drive from SDC but worth it.  I would recommend when you are ready for the drive.   It was not a big place so if you have a group you might want to call.  It was a little higher priced than a chain spots but the pizza was also much better, I myself dont mind paying for quality.  4.3/5

Reeds spring Pizza is my go to spot in the Branson Area. A little out of the way but the Pizza is incredible and they have a great rotating craft beer selection.

For Great Fine Dining we also like The Keeter Center at School Of The Ozarks. Only one problem is no alcohol or Wine available. Food is 5/5. Total is 3.75/5 because of no wine available with your dinner.

My favorites are Keeter Center, Branson Centre Stage, Cantina Lareda, and Jane Dough Subs.

We really enjoy breakfast at the Belgian Waffle and Pancake House. The place is very clean; the food is great; and the wait staff is very friendly. It is cash-only, but they have an ATM if you need it.

I really miss the old restaurant at the College of the Ozarks. Before the fine-dining Keeter Center, they had a family-dining type place that was fantastic. It was our favorite place to eat in the Branson area.

Reviews?:  OK..

Get'n Bast'd- BBQ/smoke food, Best in town, Hands down, None better !!

Little Hacienda om SOTH-  Dont bother, weak service, food is average at best, too $$$  !!

Casa Fuentas on STH-  DONT EVEN THINK about it!!!   LOL

Grand Country- good buffet all day long, good price.

Cheeky Monkey- on south 165- Bar and Grill, cold beer, friendly bunch of people- Excelllent puller pork sanwhich, Quesadilla is good also,  dont get the nachos..  This is a local BAR!!!  not really family friendly after 7 or 8 pm..  But daytime..!!  not problem..

Rocco's Pizza- north edge of town on 248.   Good stuff!!

Bucket List- little Bar in Branson Meadows, daily special, GOOD chicago style pizza, other bar foods..

Scooter's Bar and grill on Gretna- Dont bother, slow service, Beer too high..

Billy Gails on 265-  Breakfast is great- usually a waiting line..

Mr B's Ice Cream- old branson, just up the road from Dicks 5 & 10. Fresh ice Cream,  frito chile pie, sandwhiches, priced very fairly, nice place to stop in if your downtown shopping, or worth the specail drive..

Vaskens deli... Its ok, try it and see what you think.

McFarlans- good food, fair price, big portion, good service- just good "home cooked" food..

Been to lots of places in town... these just come to mind.,  I tried to NOT include franchise stores..

I also dont spend any time at The Landing, so anyplace down there in unknown to me.  Although I wont step in the door at Waxy-O-Sheas..  Tried it, wont go back.   LOL

Been to most of these places and I agree on most of them. Have not been to The Cheeky Monkey yet but  now I want to try it. My only disagreement is Grand Country. But I just do not do buffets. Also, Billy Gails. Tried it a couple times and both times I felt like I left a high school cafeteria. The Gravy was from a package and the Pancakes were to tough to cut with a fork. To me it is one of those places that get confused with quantity of food versus quality of food. I will give them this, they do give huge portions but it is not good.  To each his own.

Defiantly gettin Basted. I can taste that right now.

enjoy it... NOTHING bad on the menu,
tater salad is the best in town, I compare to mine.. its good!!
Fresh made on sight Pork Rinds,
If you have help, order "Nachos".  BIG portion and good...
Pulled pork sandich is good,
ribs fall off the bone good,
Amazing choice of sandwhiches.

! thought,  I ALWAYS order BBQ sauce on the side..  I like my smoked food with NO sauce,  Kind of like a good steak.... If cooked properly shouldnt need any sauce on it... ;D

We like Black Oak Grill at the Landing when we want a large lunch -- prices are lower than in the evening -- and lunch prices last until 3 pm. Recommend the meatloaf.

We also like Reeds Spring Pizza. Hungry Hunter out by Table Rock Dam is good for breakfast.

Some of my favorite places:

*Reeds Springs Pizza

*I love the BBQ Pork Nachos at the Buzzard Bar at Big Cedar Lodge. Clay Self plays most nights and is talented and funny.

*The Fish House next to the Bass Pro Shop on the landing.

As a local in the area there are a few places that I would like to recommend. If you're looking for pizza try Mr Gilberti's in Hollister off of Acacia Club. Small place, easily missed if you're not paying attention, but great Chicago style pizza. Also in Hollister, actually on Downing Street is Little Hacienda for Mexican. I know the one in Branson didn't get a good word earlier in this thread, but that one caters to tourists and is more mass production style. The location in Hollister is much better, great service, good margaritas, and some really good queso. If there are any fans of Indian cuisine here, besides myself, India Clay Oven on 76 across from Walmart is excellent. Go for dinner, the lunch buffet is good, but dinner is so much better, and try the mango lasi if you go. Gettin Basted and Danna's are great BBQ places. Billy Bob's if you're looking for a burger, but make sure to bring cash.  If you're on the Landing, Black Oak is great for lunch or dinner. Waxy O'Shea is a nice little Irish Pub that has music quite often, get the scotch eggs there.

Alright, now that I've made myself hungry again I need to stop  :D

Absolutely Agree.  Hacienda in Hollister is good,  I just dont usually drive that far to eat, But for sure is an option since they screwed up the Branson location >:(

Danna is great for BBQ and other food,  Always busy.    Since Gett'n Bast'd opened, they have lots of dining room space, so I havent tried to go back to Danna's, but excellent food.

Billy Bob's !! Of course, new location last year, more room, easy access from 76,  GREAT burgers...!

May I also make a late night snack recommendation for any other sweet tooth folks out there.  HURTS Donuts the glazed blueberry strusel covered donut is probably one of the cheapest and best they offer.  Fun to stop in a buy 6 different donuts and bring them back to the room. Monster donuts with lots of filling and toppings. Next to Dick Clark Theater at the light.

Late night snack of breakfast. I love just about everything there. My personal favorite is the cosmic brownie donut. I've never been able to eat more than two of theirs in one sitting, so heavy but so good.
